Drawn by artist Dan Piraro, Bizarro is a single-panel cartoon strip that has been going since 1985 and has been published in over 360 newspapers and magazines.
One of the old-school cartoonists, Piraro has made the transition into web-based comics, a completely different ballgame where the competition is fierce and most artists struggle to make even a basic living from their craft.
Piraro is a prolific artist who aims to make a new comic every day, 365 days a year. Residing somewhere in Mexico with his beloved wife (who he refers to as his ‘Olive Oyl’), his takes on the absurdity and mindlessness of modern life are designed to make you think, as well as laugh.
According to his bio, his single panel gems are a “unique concoction of surrealistic imagery, social commentary, and witty plays on words. Indeed, if Salvador Dali, Garry Trudeau and Oscar Wilde had an illegitimate child, that child would be Dan Piraro.”
While he has produced thousands of comics with a variety of topics and themes, this list deals exclusively with therapy. Piraro often includes his ‘secret symbols’ in his comics too, the number he has included is indicated right above his signature. Look out for an eyeball (the Eyeball of Observation), a piece of pie (the Pie of Opportunity), a rabbit (the Bunny of Exuberance), an alien in a spaceship (the Flying Saucer of Possibility), the abbreviation "K2" (referring to his children Krelspeth and Krapuzar), a crown (the Crown of Power), a stick of dynamite (the Dynamite of Unintended Consequences), a shoe (the Lost Loafer), an arrow (The Arrow of Vulnerability), a fish tail (The Fish of Humility) and an upside down bird (the Inverted Bird).

There is an anecdote about Shtirlitz - a Soviet spy in Berlin (In the TV series he is played by a famous actor Tikhonov): Shtirlitz wakes up in a prison cell. He doesn't remember how he got there, what day on the calendar and who is in power. He thinks for a long time and finally decides that if the Gestapo enter the chamber he will say: "Heil Hitler, I am SS Standartenfurer Otto von Shtirlitz", and if the Soviet soldiers enter, he will introduce himself: "I'm a Soviet intelligence Colonel Maxim Isaev". At this point, the policeman comes in and says: "Damn! You were so wasted last night, Mr. Tikhonov!"

I am an English teacher and I use these brilliant cartoons at my lessons at https://inyaz-sochi.ru/. My students and I could understand and laugh most of them but this particular one is not funny. Could you kindly explain the background of the joke? Or I just plain stupid and don't get it? )

Yes! This NEEDS to be upvoted! Part of the reason why I couldn't go through my anxiety therapy was because the amount I was being charged caused me more anxiety.

You are not alone in this, the price for therapy/psychiatric care is ridiculous. A few of us are "lucky" enough to be disabled Vets and if we play our cards right, we can get reduced or free care. In the U.S. mental health is treated more like a taboo than an actual human necessity, and most people are left out to dry when it comes to any monetary aid.

True story...if you really question yourself when handling a baby you will notice that there is a thin line between being overbearing and serving for a small one. There is more dignity in a newborn currently filling diapers than many people realise, and there is a lot that you can do to sustain this dignity. (And no, I am not being sarcastic for once.)
