Sometimes, when everything feels all a little too much of the same, all it takes is changing the perspective. You could say that about the work of the talented photographer Dimitar Karanikolov, who takes incredible bird's-eye photographs.
The artist told Bored Panda: “I’m trained as an architect and I specialise in doing 3D architectural visualisations in my studio, which I like to call 'photographs of future buildings'. The same principles of light, colour, and composition apply as in classic photography when creating these virtual photorealistic views. At first, I started doing cityscape and architectural photography for my work, and then I moved to travel/aerial photography which became my second profession lately. I’ve been traveling on specialised photo expeditions in recent years, trying to capture authentic environments and portraits, and unusual perspectives with my drone.”
“I love the top-down viewpoint that can only be captured with a drone (or satellite), it is kind of an architectural 'plan' view and completely different from the human perspective,” Dimitar explains. “Ordinary objects and scenarios look much more exciting from above. I’d like to show that drone photography is not only good for panoramic landscape views taken from high altitude but also for close-up pictures of people, which give a sense of scale to the abstract natural patterns."

Thank goodness they're whale sharks, otherwise this could be an entirely different picture.

Load More Replies...These are beautiful pictures Dimitar! And thank you for labeling them.
Load More Replies...Such a beautiful picture, that I would like a week of vacation there ...
Better not sleep walk, or even walk around at night without a light of some kind!
The white dots looks like birds, Large Birds but really somthing like seaguls or pegions.
I wonder why they would do it this way. Couldn't they just carve it out of stone.....above ground.
👏😮👏WOW 👏😮👏 DO YOU GET OUT MUCH? PAUSES FOR A MOMENT..... YES, YES I DO!
Load More Replies...I'm sorry, but that is so ugly. Looking down into that dark hole is depressing.

I don't know about those houses, but the vegetation around them is more than beautiful...
Wouldn't have thought Zanzibar. The modern looking houses seem more like Hawaii!
Doesn't really fit in with the environment. Kind of like coming across a rather rude surprise in the middle of beauty.
I don't know why, but the presence of people in a beautiful landscape like this, spoils the photo ...
I know what you mean, but it helps to understand the scale when there isn’t a banana available.
Load More Replies...Very interesting considering the environment that this bit of ocean has encroached into. Also a beautiful white beach.
Are we unhappy with our lives? We have electricity, computers, etc ... What do these people think about their lives?
They probably don't know any difference. But a lot of these pictures do make me think!
Load More Replies...Are these tents? It looks bleak and reminds me of the terrible famine in the eighties. The other photos of Ethiopia look very lush in comparison.
Thank you for sharing all your beautiful photos!!
Load More Replies...This view just makes me sad. All those people living in such cramped quarters.
Is that an archeological dig behind this building? "Let no land stand empty" Too busy for me.
And what do they people that live here think about their lives?
Load More Replies...For me, I'll never get any where near these sites and it was a wonderful experience to see them!
I just posted a comment on all of the images with the location. You are welcome :)
Load More Replies...You are right. The author of the article did pick up some images from my Instagram that are not shot from the air. There are 6 in total, the rest 44 are done from the air (with a drone, from hot air balloon or helly) - hence "bird eye" views
