Queens Gambit is a literal masterpiece icl
I have watched this one all the way through at least 3 times. Loved every single time.
Got the wife to watch this with me by enticing her with a story about chess and the promise of cool looking sets and locations and she was game even knowing that I would be lusting for Anya. The best thing about it was Anya, by far. Then she did a scene in lingerie to the song Venus by Shocking Blue (a song I love) and my wife was very happy for me. Great series, would watch again!
We were all trapped in our homes during the pandemic, so TV became our only source of entertainment. A show about chess? Okay, whatever. But, I would've watched this mini-series regardless bc it was interesting and well done.
Should be #1!!!!!!!!!!! I have watched the series 3 x's & will continue to watch it over & over! It's absolutely amazing!!!!!!!
You might have already seen some of these, but some might be new finds for you. Don't you just love it when you do come across a new one, right before the weekend, and now your plans for the night are all set? Well, that's what mostly happens with me.
However, I am no expert when it comes to understanding the things behind the screen, so Bored Panda got in touch with Akashneel Duttasharma—a director and writer—for an interview. Speaking about the recurring themes or storytelling techniques of the best Netflix shows, he said, "Let's be honest, the main theme across all successful shows across OTT leverage is 'binge-worthy.'"
"And some of the global successes of Netflix are just ridiculously bingeable. In pure storytelling terms, strong shows on Netflix always have an extremely strong 'hook' in their concept. Something that's referred to by writers as the 'Shiny Object'. It is a theme that is so captivating that the audience can't look away out of fascination."
When we asked our expert if there are any Netflix shows that he believes are overrated or underrated, he started with an apology. "Sorry to say to all the crazy fans, but I always thought Money Heist is overrated. I found the plot a bit contrived and the drama unnecessarily melodramatic. But hey, that's just me! Millions across the world disagree."
Meanwhile, speaking of an underrated one, Akashneel said that it'll always be The OA for him. He strongly believes that the creator, lead actor, and producer, Britt Marling, is a genius. The show has a mind-bending inter-dimensional mystery at its core while staying brutally emotional, he added.
ALICE IN BORDELAND TRUST ME
I also wanted to understand the impact Netflix’s global content (e.g., Korean dramas, Spanish thrillers) has had on audience viewing habits. Akashneel quite beautifully narrated, "Just the other day on the bus, I saw a completely normal, middle-aged man watching Demon Slayer on his phone in Hindi (an Indian language). Audiences are just exposed to so much content across continents."
He explained that now they expect the same quality and storytelling from the Indian industry. For younger generations, he added, K-dramas are replacing Indian family-based soap operas, because it's more relatable. He also claimed that western series are captivating audiences across generations, so now the Indian industry has no excuse for lackadaisical content.
why has no one said Superstore :( hands down the best show on Netflix
Behind her eyes!! Best show I’ve ever watched
Lastly, we also wanted to know which show he finds binge-worthy, and Akashneel chose Squid Game. He narrated that they have managed to leverage the well-beloved hook of the Battle Royale, while showcasing how the emotional struggle for wealth and self-respect has become ubiquitous among younger generations.
"What makes a show binge-worthy is its ability to get you invested in the characters and their journey. You can't stop watching because you want to see where your favourite character goes," he concluded.
Why is no one mentioning You 💔
Idk if anyone has watched this but.. Atypical. ITS SO GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOODDDD

Supernatural
One of my all time favourites. Now that enough time has passed, I rewatched the entire series. At the time I was disappointed with the last season(s) along with many. But with enough perspective, this time I just enjoyed the entire ride. There are still seasons, storylines and specific episodes I like much less than others, but as a whole, it's great. I also think that Jensen Ackles was hiiiigh above the rest of the cast, and if the story went a bit downhill over time, his acting skills sure went waaaay up. He just got better and better, got deeper into his character, and made Dean very real. In his other works, I usually see him as an adequate actor, nothing major. But this role was so much his, he brought absolutely everything out of it that was humanly possible. Great job.
GINNY AND GEORGIA. I know the lines better than the actors do
It's typically the kind of show I watch for the drama only (and I love it)
One of us is lying is such a hidden gem
Anne with an E
the vampire diaries hands down
I've tried watching it twice, but I could never finish it
Manifest, best show I have ever watched
Would somebody please spoiler the ending for me? I watched the first two (or was it three) seasons and it became more and more crazy and I stopped watching it, but I aways wondered what the heck happened with that plane.
The blacklist trust me
Well, it started out great, then it just went on and on and on and on, not really getting anywhere. As many others, it would've benefitted from a much shorter run and a much clearer idea on what it really wanted to be. We're all sad when a good show ends, but it's better to end early with a good, sensible closure, than dragging out just to keep it going, then getting into the trap where you kept a mystery going so long, now you have no way of ending it in any way that won't feel cheap or silly after all that build up.
Alchemy of souls
Best! Season 1 is sadly much, much better than season 2 but still worth watching it. How they managed to go from fantasy to heartbreak to sometimes comedy is really impressing. The chemistry between the actors is also pretty good, i was sometimes laughing tears. It starts a bit confusing but give it a chance if you have not watched it
the 100
Was a good show but it seems as they could not really figure a good way to end it. But highly recommend.
13 reasons why
Julie and the phantoms I know EVERY line and alll the song but I’m STILLLLLL mad that they left me on a cliffhanger and only one season😔😔😔
Gurll queen of the south has me in a chokehold 😫😂
Desperate housewives! I am so obsessed with it 🤩😭
oh how I wish that were on Netflix here, it's not available in my territory, bummer! I loved watching it on TV back then.
"Beef" was amazing, where road rage blossoms into the most insane quest for revenge by seemingly normal people ever.
for those who enjoy fantasy and anime, "delicious in dungeon". very funny with a few horror and sad moments thrown in!
Honestly, Fleabag is so good that I'm literally sad that there's nothing like it... Wow!
Murderbot, but I have what I call second season dread as second and subsequent seasons often fail to live up to expectations. I watched 3 seasons of Resident Alien and 3 episodes of season 4. Too many shows start to limp along the longer they go on
I’ll add a few. Lou, the Diplomat, Your Honor, the Tailor, A Man in Full, Rose Island, The Billion Dollar Code, The Six Triple Eight, Tell Me Who I Am and Worth.
Blast! Missed that is was on Netflix. Best series, that continues to give new details with every viewing? House of Cards. Best shows? Love, death, Robots and Black Mirror
Adolescence, Dark, Mr. Robot, Sеx Education, Dept. Q, Black Mirror, Dexter, Six Feet Under, Clickbait, The Kominsky Method, Tales of the City, Shaun the Sheep, ...
I don't have Netflix and I get annoyed how many of the shows I want to watch are on it :) I could go to my mum's place to watch, but then I would have to put up with her talking throughout
Bridgerton. I read the books years ago and enjoyed them. I know some folks don’t like how the stories have been changed but I like that Julia Quinn is involved and is participating in the rewrites. I like that I don’t know exactly what is going to happen. I like that even though it’s historically inaccurate, they have made space for POC to fill main character roles. To those getting all het up about authenticity, it’s a series based on a series of historical romance novels. It was never really authentic in the first place. And Outlander! Another series of books I very much enjoyed. The author is also involved. It’s amazing to me how close the Netflix series is to the books. And I want a Jamie!
