Artist Captured 17 Incredible Transformations Of Neglected Animals After They Were Adopted And This Might Warm Your Heart
Interview With ArtistSome animals are not lucky enough to have a family and home. They spend their days wandering around and searching for a warmer place and food, putting their lives in danger.
Thanks to good-willed people, some unfortunate beings are being taken care of by various shelters and NGOs all around the world. They contribute to making the days of abandoned pets happier and to finding their new home.
Let us introduce you to one Brazilian photographer, Elayne Massaini, who decided to show the transformations of neglected animals by photographing them after they were adopted by kind people. The woman told Bored Panda that the idea to take pictures of the pets came after she saw "before and after" pictures of a rescued dog on social media. "Seeing a big difference between the look of sadness of 'before' and the expression of joy and well-being of 'after', I wanted to take pictures of dogs that came from adoptions or rescues and that today live happy and healthy lives with their families who love them very much."

Kim
Poor Kim! I would love to know her story, but for now, I am just grateful she's alive and thriving thanks to someone who really cared enough to help her.
Look at that resilience! Dogs have such wonderful bounce back and full of love!
"It is a huge transformation in the life of a little animal. I thought of showing this difference, to show that love is worth it, love and affection win and that it is very worthwhile to save and help these little creatures."
Cachoeira
oh, this looks so much like my boy! 🥰 probably a rat terrier mix like him. he was the same way when we got him, even had awful hotspots, just like that. his were on his neck and belly. all he needed was allergy meds and to be fed properly. we adopted him 12 years ago. he's currently poking us in the shins with his cold little nose to inform us it's dinner time. ok, here I come 😆
So full of fear at first but then burst out of it's shell to say I'm ready for my close up
Thank you for those who rescued this great soul. The look of abundance taking on the world.
Looks like he was self-harming out of fear, which isn't unusual. He looks wonderful, happy, and healthy now!
Awww this sweet doggie looked sad but the new photo shows the happiness with a huge smile.
Mell
The change in their faces is as extraordinary as the change in their bodies.
The confident alertness - such a difference when loving-kindness is applied.
Wow Mell sure looks sooo much better. These animals deserve great forever homes.
Wow! Love and a home make a difference! All animals should be loved!❤️❤️❤️❤️
Elayne shared with us that she is a 52-year-old widow, has 2 children and loooooves animals.
Elayne's long-term dream was to photograph animals around the world so she took a photography course in 1993. "It was just a hobby and I never thought that one day I would be a photographer."
The woman also has some pets of her own, 2 dogs (Maggie and Milka) and 8 cats (Simba, Cookie, Nala, Atena, Mellow, Mogli, Kiara and Abu), all adopted. Some of them she rescued from the street and some she adopted from a shelter.
Bento
Bento I see a little smile lol. Love the sweater lol. It fits greatly.
Mia
"I've been a photographer since 2005 when I started photographing horses. Then I decided to photograph food, newborns, weddings, events, etc. I worked in several areas. Anyway, in 2015 I decided to focus on pet photography.
In fact, in 2007 I took the first photos of pets, but in 2015 I really left the other areas of photography to dedicate myself exclusively to animals."
Nina
I am so glad Nina found someone willing to invest in a wheelchair for her. It can make as much difference in a dog's life as it can in a human's life, and she looks like she's enjoying every minute now! Good Girl!
Idk why she has a cart if she has 1 back leg, usually it's for animals who can't use their rear (or front) legs at all. I seen dogs run around with a missing leg just fine.
Jack
Although a little too much. Jack might need a little bit more exercise ;-) Very handsome dog!
Load More Replies...Eyes have gone from vacant to content and happy. So relieved and proud of rescuers, volunteers and the care they provide to enable these kind of transitions!
The artist also shared some challenges she faces when photographing animals. "The hardest part of the creative process is that pets don't understand exactly what we want them to do. Like children, some collaborate easily and others give us a lot of work. However, the key to success is love and patience.
The best part is seeing the gratitude of pet tutors. They arrive at the studio thinking we won't get good pictures because the dogs aren't trained. And then they fall in love with the pictures. They love their dogs as if they were their children.
Photographs are a very important memory. Unfortunately, pet lives are shorter than ours. And I am very happy to be able to provide these memories."
Gretha
Amor da minha vida!!! Obrigada por ter me ensinado tanto sobre o amor e a gratidão ❤️
Dalila
What makes Elayne passionate about photography is the power that photography has - to freeze moments. "Through photos, we can relive important memories that never come back. Through photography, time travel is possible."
Piquininho
Looks just like some white markings or flea powder.
Load More Replies...Magoo
This looks like one of my end of life dogs! I am so happy handsome Magoo got the retirement he deserves.
Put some weight on a filled that snout just right for his lovely goatee. Looks like my mom's now angel. Best dogs to ever have
"Animals deserve all the love and respect we can give them. They are loyal, friends, companions and don't hold grudges or hurt feelings. I am very grateful that I chose to be an animal photographer."
Princesa
Princesa may be rocking a 'kennel clip' in the first pic, usually because of extreme matting. She's certainly rocking her pink bow and jacket now!
They look like two different breeds. It's hard to tell because the fur is long on the second picture
Ganesha
Those markings on Ganesha's head are called "medicine hat" in some cultures.
Pele
Boris
You can see the marks on the paws. He was old at the second photo.

I want to give Bel all the treatos... and then take Bel with me when I go shopping for more!
Costela
She really beefed up 😳 looks like a true survivor turned warrior
Guys if you're ready and responsible, get a pet from your shelter. Don't buy them from a random person on the street, and try not to purchase online. Let's help the floofs at our own place before adopting exotic foreign breeds.
Exactly!! I don't understand how people can pass up these sweet, neglected babies! I may have a soft heart, but so far I have three rescue dogs and three rescue cats.
Load More Replies...I took the "unadoptable" dogs for my rescue group for more than a decade... they come in looking entirely different sometimes. I had one little girl, Desi, who was so starved when she came in, she couldn't even grow hair. Now she's living the life of a queen with the cousin of her rescue vet... it is so rewarding when they bounce back! Desperata-...21d3e1.jpg
I refuse to believe these are the same animals, it was such a glow up 😍😍😍
