It's really hard making black icing. You add the black food colour and it goes grey, so you add more still grey so you add more and you soon realise there are way more shades of grey than 50!

I worked at a grocery store during the pandemic. One of my co-workers was a young guy who had a seemingly endless access to, er, shall we say, a range of pharmaceuticals and other substances that he definitely did not have prescriptions for. He was also really into "poppers", which are small tubes of nitrous that are supposed to be used in whipped cream canisters. I tried poppers once and it was honestly terrifying and not really an "enjoyable" high. One night during closing shift, this guy did a couple poppers and suddenly laid down on one of the produce carts in the produce department backroom (where we were all hanging out) and his lips turned blue and he became completely unresponsive. I was a split-second from calling paramedics when one of the produce guys slapped the kid across the face and roused him. I did a lot of drúgs during this phase of my life (I'm not ashamed to talk about it) but nitrous is an absolutely terrifying drúg that is NOT worth the inherent risk.

Kind of a funny story here, or I found it funny at least. I have a telescope, and was waiting all year for a particular thing to be in the sky, this would have been July/August time, so warm nights, I was in shorts and no shirt. The thing wasn't in the sky until like 2 am, so I waited up until then. The time came, and my view was blocked slightly by a neighbour's house, so I stacked the telescope on some garden chairs, put up my ladders, and stood with one leg on a garden chair, one on the ladder, whilst peering through my telescope. I forgot milkmen existed, so while my pale a*s is 4 ft off the ground in the middle of the night, peering through a telescope, the milkman came around the slightly higher road opposite my garden, and lit me up with the headlights. I must have looked like a d**n criptid to him, long pale creature in the middle of the night...
