And the masquerade continues... I continue the mask project in the second lockdown. After the first corona mask project in the spring, I wanted to hang up the masks in the word's truest sense. But during the second lockdown in Austria, the experiences in my own environment with the coronavirus and the events of the first days of November prompted and motivated me to continue the mask series.

While in spring, it was the motivation to keep those around me happy, since this lockdown, I see it as a primary goal to motivate people to wear the mask, not by warning, but with humor and charm. Catch up on my previous masks here and here.

In this lockdown, a new mask is created every day and presented via various social networks. The motifs make use of current global events, political decisions, or simply the artist's experiences. In addition to the terrorist attack in Vienna and the USA's presidential election, it is mainly film characters, pop art motifs, and heroic figures that Kretschmer embeds in these days' current events. Each mask is unique, and behind each, there is a statement that they are not intended to warn. They are intended to entertain, but above all, to motivate. And not only to take the mask requirement seriously, but with humor, to take these days a little more calmly, enjoy the time with the family, and support local trade and the social environment.

How long the mask project will be continued is still unclear; the last mask will probably be designed when the new mask requirement ends. Today, a total of 100 masks have been designed; how many will follow is not yet in sight.

Voldemort

Voldemort

Lockdown 2.0 Day 26. The second character from the mask series "Guys without a nose." A gentleman who so rarely plays the nice boy or has a talent for dramatic exits, whether as an English patient who then turns out to be Hungarian, as a drinking friend of Oskar Schindler, a business traveler in Bruges, or in this case, as the bad boy in a fantasy film series. Today's mask is dedicated to my dear old fellow student MöMö! Keep on catching the train to Hogwarts!

Davy Jones

Davy Jones

Lockdown 2.0 Day 28. The third member of the mask series "Guys without a nose." Davy Jones, one of the bad guys! It is well-known that you don't need a nose underwater anyway; with tentacles, you can somehow get this shortcoming under control, I think. We don't have any bathing weather today anyway, so please your noses, tomorrow we'll continue with the masks! Stay healthy!

Bane

Lockdown 2.0 Day 19. Batman already existed last Saturday, and so that he doesn't get bored these days, I present—BANE. Pro: a shining example for all of us when wearing masks (I almost don't know him without mouth, nose, and jaw protection). Cons: He wanted to pulverize Gotham. You do not do that! Dear people, have a nice weekend! Stay at home, watch some classic films again, and call your mothers again!

Lila Cow

Lockdown 2.0 Day 11. The brown cow likes to do the moooooo thing, the purple cow, the pudding. A cheer for the purple cow, the only cow color that we recognize here in Vienna and will probably see for a long time. Dear people, stay at home, stock up on treats and wine. It doesn't look like the end of the tunnel is in sight. Happy Friday the 13th! Don't buy indiscriminately from online corporations; rather, buy from the Schedis, the Haasen, the Caleos, Paschingers, and all the other small dealers in your communities!

Stay safe, take a look at yourself, and be nice to the shop assistants who hold the position for us!

Ninja Turtle

Lockdown 2.0 Day 13. Last Sunday before the Hardcore Lockdown. Four childhood friends (from the same household, mind you) took the opportunity to visit me in my studio. Michelangelo, Donatello, Rafael, and Leonardo have always been wearing their masks, but if you consider where they live, corona is really the least of my worries. I'll get to cleaning & disinfecting right away. Stay healthy! We'll make it!

Watching The News

Lockdown 2.0 Day 7. If I watch the news late at night, I will lose my sleep! It's really no longer on a cow's skin what's going on in the world these days. At least I have both hands free for beer, popcorn, & co. and can still look horrified with the mask. Anyway, it'll get better again, call ahead! Stay healthy!

Hulk

Lockdown 2.0 Day 21. There are many reasons to be angry with green and blue these days—you have to turn on the TV. And yet, too much anger is bad for the heart and the complexion of the skin. So it stays positive. At some point, this ghost will also be over.

Hell Boy

Lockdown 2.0 Day 20. We are in Hell, boy. Lockdown 2.0, a lot of things that we appreciate and love but are not allowed to do. Unfortunately. But also many things for which we really have a lot of time now as for my two snot boys. Often annoying, but a unique time that you learn to appreciate. Or not... Hell is what you make of it. See the positives these days. That makes it easier. And before the question arises... it's the boys' turn this Sunday, next Sunday there will be a mask for my little lady. Stay healthy!

Vetter It

Lockdown 2.0 Day 18. Vetter It. A tribute to all hairdressing salons, pedicure studios, dog hairdressers, and, and, and... No system owner, but (partly) responsible for ensuring that we can step outside the door in a handsome and well-groomed manner. Anyway, let's make a virtue out of necessity; fashion trends repeat themselves every 10-20 years anyway. I tell you, the hippie hairstyle is on the rise if the lockdown is still going on. This mask is dedicated to a dear friend from Gmundentagen, who looks amazingly similar to this member of the Addams Family. Make love, not trouble!

Metropolis

Lockdown 2.0 Day 22. The Metropolis' Maria (Fritz Lang "Metropolis," 1927). Another classic film from the Roaring '20s. It's funny how people imagined the future almost 100 years ago. The mask of the great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-grandma of C3PO is dedicated to my old LEF droogie Ezio, who suggested this mask in June, before the end of the first mask series. Stay healthy and call your grannies again!

Helping Local Stores

Lockdown 2.0 Day 10. Today again with a request! Since trade is also suffering a lot from the current situation, support on your part and our part is critical. The Gmunden city center shops were imaginative & want to accommodate their customers & are now offering "private shopping": Since there are also some childhood and school friends among the dealers, it is imperative to support the campaign. But I think all traders will appreciate a little help these days. Not only in Gmunden but also in Vienna, Munich, and Hintertupfing.

On Rose Monday, it goes to the Ebenseer carnival ball in a traditional tattered robe. This carnival season will probably be canceled for the first time in 100,000 years. Therefore—in honor of the shredded ball—today's shredded mask, to let the tradition live on at least in part.

The Dark Knight

Lockdown 2.0 Day 12. Nanananananananana—BAAAAAAATMAAAAN! Since childhood, this constant companion is still in gray tights, now with the voice of a chain smoker. Pro: protects us from bad guys!
