The 1970's was a crazy time to be a kid.... We played outside all day, rode our bikes for miles, and when you said you were going outside to play with your friends, you didn't come back till dinner time! Railroad tracks, bridges and brooks, all were your playground. Share a story or image that shows the joy of true freedom!

10 years old in 1979.... "Mom, my friends and I are going camping on top of Mark's Mountain!" "ok, have fun!" We proceeded to pack drinks and sandwiches, hike two miles through peoples backyards and fields until getting to the base of the mountain. Followed the trails up to the top, it took us three hours. Set up camp near the top and camped out.... In the morning I woke up and there in front of me, about three hundred feet away, was a hot air balloon with a couple people waving at me in my tighty whiteys!

The 70’s was the best time to grow up ever. We smoked pot. We went to the roller skating rink, and tried to make clumsy adolescent connections. Did he hold your hand while you skated together? Did he pay for your slice? Parking. Misbehaving on weekends, but also doing the things. Going to school. Responsible for your homework. Helping out at home. Funk. Rock. Disco. I loved it all.
