This Shelter Pit Bull Thinks He’s A Cat, And His New Family Keeps Posting Photos That Prove It
Dogs are social creatures; they love being part of a pack. They’re also quick learners and can adapt to environments all over the world.
Mako the pit bull is a very good boy and a perfect example of both of these things. Just in an unusual kind of way.
When Bethany and Samantha Castiller adopted him from a shelter, they wondered whether the 2-year-old would get along with their cats.
“We initially kept the cats in a separate part of the house because we wanted to slowly introduce them to the new dog,” Bethany told Bored Panda. “He started jumping up on the small tables we had around the house and we thought he was just super excited and full of energy.”
Turns out, Bethany and Samantha had nothing to worry about. Mako was probably already familiar with being around cats. Very familiar. So familiar, in fact, he even thinks he’s one of them!

Like with many rescue pets, you could say it was Mako himself who chose his new family. “When we went to the pet shelter, Mako had looked over his shoulder and gave us direct eye contact and we just fell in love with the little guy,” Bethany said. “At the time, he looked like a bobblehead because his head was so much larger than his body, we just thought he was adorable.”

It wasn’t until Bethany and Samantha introduced the pup to the cats that they realized he kinda acts like them. “They would be on the counters and he would jump up there with them. He just wanted to be around them all the time.”
Looks like Mako had clearly grown up with cats in his former home, causing him to adopt elegant feline tastes and behaviors. How else would you explain a pit bull up on top of the fridge? Or the cupboards?

Here’s what people said after seeing the good boy

Aw, Mako is obviously very happy thinking he's a cat! What a very good boy!
We rescued a cat who was obviously raised with dogs, and a dog who was obviously raised with cats (only confirmed by close observation—-they were both rescued off the street, so their histories are unknown). So we say Smudgy is a dog in a cat suit and Scruffy is a cat in a dog suit. It all evens out in the end.
"He's a weirdo, but he's OUR weirdo." What a sweet group.
Load More Replies...Seeing him on the top of the cabinets is a bits scary. Not sure what weights they're made to bear but I'm pretty sure it didn't factor in the weight of a Pit Bull on top of them.
He has such a beautiful expression on his face, very serene. I don't know if that makes any sense?
Mako looks so happy! But I would imagine you would have to own some very sturdy furniture to own a dog that size who thinks he's a cat.
Left the house, ran back in to grab something. Pug was standing on the table, frozen with that “Oh c**p! If I don’t move she won’t see me” look on his face.
He'll go along with anything... love Pitties for that.. hate how it's used against them... ;(
I've got a cat that thinks he's a dog. Inside cat that's never been around other cats only dogs
I don't believe for a minute that dog jumped up on the refrigerator! Cute sure but definitely staged!
I love how the cat is in most of them. Cat: "hey, you saw how to do it, no go do it." Dog: "okay!"
I have to ask if Mako does the ultimate feline favor of using a cat box?
i think that you got a very special dog.Thank You! for sharing Have a Great Day!
Amazing animals! That cat in the first pictures expression is priceless! This young lady is very lucky to have animals that get along so well!
I love Mako, he is very handsome, actually he is adorable, getting on the tables may be the reason he was given up, thanks for being smart and adopting a Pit Bul, they don't deserve the reputation as a bad breed, if I could I would have one, pretty cats for him !!!
This is wonderful! But, when Mako jumps to the counter, does he do the classic cat ‘butt-wiggle’ maneuver first? :-D
I would have fallen for that face too! I have a dogcat. We should get them together!
I'm in love with that pooch. What a cutie pie. So he thinks he's a cat.... I think we can say he's Species Fluid or a Trans Cat! LMAO
