Vampire Butterflies
How does that work? You take the butterfly on a binge weekend and ask it to choose between flower juice and blood?
They'll drink urine, too. I think they'll drink anything with any sugar in it, blood and pee included.
Load More Replies...I wish I didn't know this. My son at 6 was afraid of butterflies. He liked to look, but the idea of them landing on him freaked him out. I told him, don't worry, butterflies only drink flower juice. To which he replied "And sometimes people juice." I still call blood people juice. I just didn't know my kid was right.
The insect world is extreme: blood siphoning is a quest for nutrients but insects are cannibalistic. Insects are very needed as a mass collective, to supply every food web in every ecosystem on Earth.

As weird as it sounds, I've seen a few pics of dead bodies outdoors with a buncha butterflies all over them or all over the puddles of blood.

I've seen pictures of dead bodies where they're doing it. Pretty crazy.
Load More Replies...I learned this a few years ago and I can never look at butterflies the same. I figured this out because I stepped on something, bled, and while I was sitting and waiting for help from family, a butterfly dropped down and started drinking from the little puddle. Did research after that and found out it’s because they need the minerals
