UGH, my former SIL was a RABID JW. I threatened to kick the sh*t out of her for telling my 4 year old she was going to hell for celebrating Christmas. One of the main problems I have with organized religion - yours is the only TRUE faith. Some of the most hypocritical, backstabbing, lying pieces of sh*t I have ever met claim to be Christians (and for some reason they always seem to go into politics).

The term "meme" - contrary to what one limiting the term to the rise of social media only might think - was made for broader use. Way back in 1976, Richard Dawkins coined the term "meme" to describe an idea, behavior, or style - some theme, that spreads between people by different means of imitation - writing, speech, gestures, and rituals, among others. He derived the term by shortening the Ancient Greek word "mimeme", which means an imitated thing.

I can answer this one! Plastic recorders are pretty cheap for schools, usually easy to physically play for children because of the small holes, and help kids learn some basic note-reading (EGBDF, FACE) Unfortunately, unless you are a professional recorderer (recorder-ist?) they typically sound real, real bad.

If taught properly also teaches control, finger dexterity, aural skills. The note reading and memorisation teaches intervals, and all music has a relation to mathematics.

Also, one can easily play the recorder compared to other instruments such as a flute because of the required air amounts. Thanks to that, recorder is easier to pick up. It can also help transition into other instruments especially woodwinds. This also probably gives kids experience with a pitched instrument where you have to use air. That is just my theory.🤷🏻♀️

I still play the recorder, but a wooden version. Honestly, our recorder group won prizes. We played Mozart and Handel. It was the greatest thing for learning musical notation. Helped with my maths oddly. Cornwall. Mid 1960s to 1970s. Was so disappointed that recorder groups are no longer a thing!

I saved a turtle once. It was on the road so I thought "oh poor little fella, I'll grab you and go put you in the dam". I was only up the road from my old work (big farm). The stinking thing pissed all over me and I stunk like turtle p**s all day. I don't blame Mario for not wanting to touch them

True story: “Wake Me Up When September Ends” is based on a tragic personal event in the life of Green Day’s frontman Billie Joe Armstrong. His father died of cancer in September of 1982, when Billie Joe was 10 years old. When he got home from the funeral, he went into his room and cried. Well depression become normal and the hairs style got out of fashion. People stop dressing like that just, I my honest opinion, they expected the style to evolve. For younger generations a deviation from the normal is fake happiness in a world of real sadness and this is why this style stoped appealing to them and otjers style appeals to them. Any way this was used as a drop of diversity in Hollywood in some movies because they thought it would create contrast by exaggeration, so if you are upset by any decision the movie industry does in America look at the old movie and see that while the details have changed the big picture is the same. They use different elements to create the same efect.

for me it's more like laying in bed with the curtains drawn & noise canceling headphones on to block out the fireworks :( i have autism & a tic disorder, so my sensory issues amplify the loud noises & bright flashing lights, which in turn sets off my tics for hours as the fireworks go on & on. psa, guys!! fireworks are bad for the environment, they scare animals (both wild & domesticated), & they're harmful to those with disabilities you may not be able to see!
