who's to say a doctor can't be an artist too? jokes aside, I'm serious about one thing: you don't have to be a professional artist to be considered an artist. I am a hobbyist artist and I draw about once a week to once a month. don't be discouraged by art! it's only hard to get into if you're self critical and hesitant!

All professionals have hobbies on the side to destress and stay sane. Plus, you shouldn't have to be a doctor if you don't want to. I'm from a heavily European family where they believe that women (like myself) should be receptionists, seamstresses, housewives, and more "feminine roles" while squeezing out kids. I'm 23, going into a Fitter and Turner apprenticeship (which is making anything out of metal, in case you don't know), and I can't have kids because I had a hysterectomy due to cancer of the uterus. I think your parents either want you to be a doctor to look after them for free out of obligation when they're older, or, they want you to be wealthy and successful. But what is the purpose of being alive if you don't pursue what your heart desires and makes your soul burn bright? I don't know about you, but I'd rather be poor and happy than rich and miserable.

You can do both! Doctor for job, artist as a major hobby! Or go into art therapy as a doctor? See what makes you happy and what you're good at and see how you can marry them.

Be a medical illistrator.

Study hard, be smart, do art for medical and scientific publications. ;) Seriously though, you can and should get your parents to invest in design education because even if you do become a doctor, knowing design will give you an edge. Also, getting into a good US premed program or medical school at all requires more than just good grades in math and science. You need a diversity of interests that you have shown excellence in. Handy that those can also be good fallbacks if and when you are part of the frankly rather large pool of people not accepted for medical school or the much larger pool of people who get to that point in their lives and decide it was never a good fit in the first place. Oh, and also just FYI, doctor pay is going down (relative to inflation) and medical school costs are going up. I know a lot of doctors who are very good at their jobs and work quite hard, but are not particularly rich, and I have watched political and economic winds eroding that too.

LOTS of exercise along with the meds helped me. No super processed foods, junk foods, etc. without the exercise and meds the only thing that helped was 3:1 keto. The first thing I did in the morning was run 3k and it was the last thing I did before bed. If I was starting to feel worn out I’d do bodyweight workouts at night. I was doing yoga in the middle of the day. I was also on a high-ish dose of Concerta. Only time I was functional.

I also have ADHD, I was formally diagnosed 25 years ago but unfortunately it went untreated for almost 10 years. At the time ADD/ADHD was not quite understood/researched so my parents decided that no treatment was the best option out of the short list of treatments. Anyway being on meds for me has worked wonders as well as staying as active as you can physically and mentally. I also try to stick to a routine and write things down. Have your doctors suggested any other treatment options? I hope you find what works for you asap.

Have you tried/thought of a psychiatric hospital? I know it sounds really scary, but I started about 1,5 months ago for my autism, but ADHD and ADD are also part of the groups there. I also have (had?) depression, but I am genuinly enjoying being there. Because the focus in our department is on things like ASD and ADHD, they're very (VERY) flexible with everything, there are also people who come just during the day. But I honestly can't explain how much I like being there, everything is so comfortable and everyone is equal! It makes the relationship between us patients and the therapists, nurses, psychologists... very natural, and not as if we're teacher-student or something :)

I recently heard about a DNA test which tests your compatibility with different medicines. Maybe look into that? Hope it helps :)

Run run run...and no, walking won't do it. Amphetamines work but are not good for your heart and didn't work as much as running. I had a world renowned adhd specialist tell me that running is the only way...I didn't listen and only started after a breakup... it changed my life! FYI, it takes a couple months of running to feel the change, so don't give up!

No, it's the eyes, you get one looking great and you move on the the other one and you can't get it to look right, so next time you try to do them at the same time but they still don't look right... I need more practice with eyes.
