Definitely a traveller. :)

Tourists are guided around in a group, like sheep. The tour guide (shepherd) decides what they will see, where they will shop, etc. Travellers are more likely to head off on their own, talk to the locals, find the places the tours don't go to... So this one gets my vote. But Travellers don't necessarily have to sleep in tents, climb mountains, lug around a tripod and expensive camera, etc. So I think the rest are bogus distinctions.

I don't think a dslr is a must if you just want to keep a memory, any modern mobile phone and (prefereably) a powerbank would be more durable and easier to carry around.

It's the difference between cheap generic c**p that's pushed onto out of towners versus buying a momento that captures the essence of the memory.

Sometimes it is the torn entrance ticket to some park, show, etc. or sweet wrapper.

You can be a traveler and do both of these things. Taking a cab in a foreign place is an adventure too!

Yes, as all comments point out, this is just stupid generalizations signifying nothing. I like to say "I'm a great tourist" because I explore where I live. I also lived in Asia for three years, during my forties with my wife (so not because of that not-uncommon "Asian women" fetish some Americans demonstrate. So, visiting 20 countries, I'm a traveler, but no cartoon shows how one's zeal to learn about unfamiliar peoples & customs, and smiling at every person one meets on the globe makes traveling more fulfilling!
