Tourist Vs Traveller
But a traveller do it with an apn not with a smart phone ;)
Load More Replies...I like how the traveller respects and captures non,/important moments in history with a camera. The traveler shows the world in a different perspective that would not exist without him/her.! :DD “Amazing Work!"
Wow Wow Wow This is what i felt after reading post and seeing pictures. Its seems to engaging and one can have great family time. I am so looking forward for one visit here. Thanks for sharing info https://www.bumbleboom.in
The photo on the right will end up meaningless. If it is good, it won't be any different than photos already on shutter sites. Photo on the left would be unique.
The best ever depiction justifying the content and its distinction ....... https://indiagoldentriangletours.org/
I agree with the points you mentioned about the difference between tourists and travelers. https://www.saiprashnavali.com/

I would say number 2 should be....if you call yourself a Traveller...then you are a tourist. Seen thousand of 'travellers' in Van Vieng all watching episodes of Friends waering the same smelly clothes and drinking Beer Lao...such adventurers. Meanwhile down the street a well dressed Korean 'tourist' was using his recently learnt Lao. I would call the Korean a traveller not the mass backpackers.
Tourist always keeps moving forward, no matter the circumstances/consequences
Appreciating the time and energy you put into your blog and detailed information you present. It’s great to come across a blog every once in a while that isn’t the same outdated rehashed information. Wonderful read! https://www.triund-trek.com

But are you stuck with those other people or can you just move from group to group, that's what I think this signifies
Load More Replies...no it implies that people are tourists more often than travellers and that tourists outnumber travellers enormously
a traveller will travel alone, then meet people in the country they travel, a tourist bring his s**t with him, and his F... culture, can't open an eye to another culture
Tourists are guided around in a group, like sheep. The tour guide (shepherd) decides what they will see, where they will shop, etc. Travellers are more likely to head off on their own, talk to the locals, find the places the tours don't go to... So this one gets my vote. But Travellers don't necessarily have to sleep in tents, climb mountains, lug around a tripod and expensive camera, etc. So I think the rest are bogus distinctions.
How so IvanaDuric? We love cruising but not at the expense of ruining a town.
There is nothing worse then crowd from cruis ships. Please boycott them, they are destroying life in my town!
Or.. They keep your town alive by buying stuff from your town..

I think it's supposed to represent a well worn route vs the path less traveled.

How is the traveler charging his phone and camera? Or are they powered by the mystical kinetic energy of a hippie?
Too easy to put people in boxes! Each person is an individual and therefore not one or the other.
I don't think a dslr is a must if you just want to keep a memory, any modern mobile phone and (prefereably) a powerbank would be more durable and easier to carry around.
Tourist Vs Traveller
It's the difference between cheap generic c**p that's pushed onto out of towners versus buying a momento that captures the essence of the memory.
it depend on where you go... i mean... would you buy Praying Flags in NY? don't think so
Sometimes it is the torn entrance ticket to some park, show, etc. or sweet wrapper.
I think it's talking about what souvenir you'd buy.

You can be a traveler and do both of these things. Taking a cab in a foreign place is an adventure too!
Exactly. This implies you can't be a traveller in a city.
Load More Replies...Yes see the sights but then get off the beaten track to xplore a whole lot more.
Tourist Vs Traveller
I know! Just because I don't climb mountains doesn't mean I'm not a traveler.
Load More Replies...Travelers must only go to tropical places, because you wouldn't dare sleep in a hammock in Siberia.
Tourist Vs Traveller
This is dumb. So to be a traveler I have to sleep in a tent and only wear 1 shirt and never see any major symbols of the place I'm seeing? I love to travel to experiance the local flair but I don't sleep in a tent and I don't miss out on seeing what I want to see and I bring more then one shirt. I'm not going to sleep outside in Iceland in November .
This is such a pointless and misleading, misinformed piece of cr*p it makes me sick.
So because I have physical limitations that preclude me from camping I'm not a real traveler?
Yes, as all comments point out, this is just stupid generalizations signifying nothing. I like to say "I'm a great tourist" because I explore where I live. I also lived in Asia for three years, during my forties with my wife (so not because of that not-uncommon "Asian women" fetish some Americans demonstrate. So, visiting 20 countries, I'm a traveler, but no cartoon shows how one's zeal to learn about unfamiliar peoples & customs, and smiling at every person one meets on the globe makes traveling more fulfilling!

Wow. Hitchhiking is illegal in America? I always considered hitching an informal method of carpooling . . .
Load More Replies...Silly, very silly post... After visiting over 35 countries and living abroad for over 4 years in 3 different countries I've learned one thing: travellers don't judge people, they don't categorise or patronize them. Very silly post!
Amen to that... It feels like this article was just written to "glorify" the traveller who wrote it. It reminds me of hipsters, keeping on listening to music nobody EVER heard, spraying their science about everything (especially when nobody asked them), and pretending so hard that they are so not mainstream (when hipsters WAS a fashion thing). Tanks god, people like you show what a real traveller is.
Load More Replies...My boyfriend and I hitched from Ny to Cali. All good experiences. But instead of sticking our thumbs out on the side of the road we would chat with people at gas stations, then ask for a ride if the vibe was right.
.... that can get you killed in Australia, anyone hear of wolf creek?
Okay, yes, I apologize, I meant USA - it's a habit for those of us from the U.S. to just say "American". I didn't mean any offense. It's illegal in almost all states, probably because it's potentially so dangerous. http://www.hitchhiker.50megs.com/custom.html
Thanks for correcting that usa/america confusion. 'Potentially so dangerous..' All my hitchhiking experiences were good ones. I think states/ countries should let people decide what they want to do.

Actually #2 is a tourist. Who would come to India to do parachuting? :-/
Lol RyanPhung, your comment just made me laugh so loud I'm sure I woke up my entire building
Load More Replies...It means tourists visit well known objectives while travellers take time to explore lesser mainstream activities that a place can offer. The Taj Mahal is there as a famous building people go to see, could just aswell be The Eiffel Tower or The Pisa tower, etc
Excellent information you have shared, thanks for taking the time to share with us such a great article. I really appreciate your work. https://www.iiad.edu.in/programmes/fashion-design-course/

can anyone explain to me why Tourists prefer GOA than GOkarnA? Why do traveller prefer GOkarnA?
As of today, it is more or less the same. Gokarna has also become very commercial. Not as bad as Goa, but it's getting there!!!
This might be the first "article" in BoredPanda that I really dislike. It feels like the author is a traveller and wants to take the "I am the coolest" credit while saying that the tourist is a show-off a**e. The beauty of travelling is totally missed in this one and that is a thing that both tourists and travellers share: the love of discovering new places, in whatever way it feels right and nice to us. Plus, the two things doesn't exclude one another. I can be a traveller and a tourist at the same time, even in the manner of this article.
Tourist shaming is one of douche-filters I apply on potential friends. Like come on. You're not better for sleeping in the motherfing woods. Just fking enjoy your bloody life and stop making other people feel less valid.
What a load of pretentious nonsense. This isn't the difference between tourist and traveller, it is the difference between tourist and hipster tourist
Hipster is now the generic and meaningless name to "stuff people do differently than I do and act snobbish about" apparentl
Load More Replies...This is absolute b******t. I don't agree with any of these comparisons. Not one. Logically actually, just look up the meaning of tourist in the dictionary: a person who is traveling, especially for pleasure. A traveler according to the dictionary: a person or thing that travels. A tourist can be a traveler and a traveler is often a tourist.
Hm, I think you can also be a traveller, if you are not into camping and hitchhiking ....
