Scandinavians are serious about their green roofs. They've had them for a while now and it doesn't look like they're going anywhere. They even have a competition every year to determine the best green roof project in Scandinavia by the Scandinavian Green Roof Association! But there is a reason why Scandinavians like these green roofs so much... They are not only a beautiful feature for a house, but they also offer numerous social, environmental and financial benefits. They absorb rainwater, reduce winter heating costs, reduce summer air-conditioning costs, provide insulation, and are long lasting - just to name a few.

Keep on scrolling to take a look at Bored Panda's compiled list of the most unique and beautiful living roofs in Scandinavia.

It wasn't the roof that caught my eye, it was the moguls for a lawn. Must need a goat for trimming that.

That is not correct! Iceland and Faroe Islands are NOT a part of Scandinavia but part of the Nordic countries. Only Norway, Sweden and Denmark are the Scandinavian countries.

It is actually a museum and everyone can go inside. It is not just one house but several ones connected to each other, each "room" with a different function. This is a classical old icelandic farm, the part you see on this picture is the largest part and the main living area for the inhabitants. If you google the name (Glaumbaer) you will find pictures of how fascinating it looks inside :)
