We're all guilty of lying from time to time for our own personal gain. And of course, no one's here to judge you, after all, it's a dog eat dog world so everyone deserves to do a little something to help themselves. But when you think about it, how do you separate an innocent white lie and legit nasty lie? Well, this series of tweets about people lying for personal gain will show you how far people will go in order to get what they want, and honestly, you can't really blame them, some even managed to get married to the love of their life just by fudging the truth a bit.

My dad used to do this on nature walks. Found out years later that the 'lesser spotted throat warbler' was a thrush.

That reminds me of this 6 year old kid in our neighborhood. He saw a banana and said he didn't know what it was, so we let him eat one. It turned out he didn't know what any fruit was so we were always giving him some. We thought we were doing him a huge favor. Got talking to his mom one day who laughed and said he would say anything to get food and he was familiar with all kinds of fruit! We were so taken for a ride!

I also have no idea. It must be some local place that you have to know about to understand.

From Their web site: Every Buca di Beppo Restaurant has a Pope Room decorated with statues, photographs and other artistic representations of popes past and present plus souvenirs straight from the Vatican! Each Pope Room is furnished with a single round table, large enough to seat 12 to 18 people. It's a good restaurant and if you go, better be hungry and pace yourself when eating!

You booked a specific room at a restaurant so you could go to dinner dressed like you were attending a Ghost concert? Were you born on Hallowe'en, or do you see this as a way to stick it to the church?

Probably the latter... and I find it amusing. However, I wish they’d had enough people to attend the party, so they wouldn’t have to lie about the reservation. That’s rough on the wait staff and restaurant... not getting enough people in the reserved room to be worth it, financially, for the restaurant and staff. Otherwise? Fun!

It's Buca di *Beppo (Joe's Basement). The Pope's Table seats 12 to 18 people and has a plastic bust of the pope under plexiglass in the middle. There's also a Chef's Table that seats 6 to 10. They are set up in a semi-private dining room that's typically used for groups.

It sounds as though the restaurant likely lost money since they could have had a bigger crowd in that room. Pranks are fun, but only if they're victimless.

I assume that the Pope room required a great number of people?? So how many showed up?

What does dressing up have to do with lying about the amount of people showing up?

He lied to get the pope room. He wanted that particular room because it fit with the theme for their costumes.

How could you invent Jewish holidays? I mean, there's a calendar. You had a Jewish professor? College staff are really that stupid?

There is a similar post to this in this BP article that was posted by a man; it has positive comments on it.
