If you don’t have a neighbor horror story, you might consider yourself a lucky one, as quite a few of us have likely encountered an aggravating one or two. Some stomp around as if they roam from room to room doing cartwheels, others sing louder than they should—the volume often seems to be positively linked with lack of musical training,—a few start picking fights over matters that don’t even matter; the list goes on and on.

If one of these situations already evoked a sigh or flashbacks—we’re sorry; if not, scroll down to find one that likely will. Today, we have listed some of the most patience-testing, anger-inducing, plain-annoying neighbors out there, as shared by the ‘Mildly Infuriating’ subreddit. Covering everything from shoveling snow—or poop—into others’ territories to shooting firearms inside apartments, and so much more, these sure are some colorful examples of just how unhinged some neighbors can be.

Insanely insulting but, simultaneously, hilarious that she thinks that that's what a drug addicts paraphernalia looks like or that people who use needle-drugs can sustain a clean home and disposition.

Call the police and report her for throwing infected needles onto your property. If you can get her on camera then that will be a bonus

You could report her for dumping medical waste in your area. That will get her attention, albeit, not the attention she was seeking.

Don't touch them with your hands, you'll leave fingerprints on them. I doubt she's smart enough to know she's doing that too, so if she should ever call the police on OP, they'll only find out that the syringes were from her

SkyBlueandBlack

Fingerprints aren't very reliable -- they're frequently smudged or too partial to be of use, and the oil from your skin (which is what a fingerprint is) is oil. Leave the item out in the sun for very long, that oil is going to get melty, blurring any fingerprints. Which, by the way, it turns out are not *that* unique in the first place. But you're right, don't touch them with bare hands -- you don't know where that needle has been.

those syringes are also far to large for what addicts use... even law enforcement would know that (and see it for what it is)...the woman is not only delusional she's ignorant too ,she probably doesn't realise that her behaviours will be monitored also, had a similar neighbour years ago,the local housing authority saw right through her complaints, yes some were valid but most weren't....she complained she could hear excessive laughter from my property (I was alone watching a comedy on TV, didn't complain about TV noise just me laughing), vacuuming in the middle of the afternoon, yet not a peep when I had lady friends over and we were obviously having a very good time 😉😉😉

So there's this pharmacy somewhere in town that's convinced she's an addict or a dealer as she weekly buys syringes?

She's trying to get you evicted, so someone such as a landlord has oversight. Bring them the evidence and have HER kicked out for littering, harassment, plus endangerment if any of them have actually been used. Set up a camera to show that they are thrown, dropped or placed there daily by another party. Why drag this out and transform it into your routine?

I don’t see the problem from a weight point of view. I would imagine that the balcony is built to hold 50 / 60 stone (several large adults and some extra weight for safety). I don’t think this looks anywhere near that. There is a safety concern about things falling off the balcony.

One doesn’t necessarily have to be friends with those living around them; but a good rule of thumb would be not to make their life any worse either. Yet some people don’t abide by such rules, this way likely encouraging their neighbors to consider moving away.

In Britain, for instance, as much as 60% of people seemingly don’t get along with their neighbors, according to a Daily Mail survey; nearly 30% of them say they would never socialize with the people living nearby.

When it comes to the US, the situation might seem worse, as nearly three-in-four (73%, to be exact) of them dislike a neighbor, LendingTree reports. However, on the upside, roughly as many of them like at least one person in the neighborhood.

The pictures on the list are just some examples showing what makes certain neighbors difficult to bear, but the reasons are nearly limitless. Some of the most common ones, though—for Americans, at least—include neighbors giving off a “weird vibe”, as well as being loud, rude, or nosy; their pets causing trouble is also in the top five.

Another reason some people are far from fond of those living nearby is the latter not upkeeping the exterior of their property; apparently, this annoys as much as 16% of Americans.

Well, the rest of the neighbours should park around and behind him, so that he can't move his car. And keep his car "locked" for a whole day. It's not illegal, you don't need to even touch his car, and he'll learn a valuable lesson. If he doesn't learn, next time it's two days.

LendingTree revealed that the antipathy Americans feel towards their neighbors is not only based on what the latter do—or don’t do, for that matter—but also on competitiveness. It pointed out that as much as 17% of them feel financially pressured to keep up with those living around them; among those with a homeowners association, the number rises to 36%.

Despite the competition, a similar number of people—37%, to be exact—would rather have neighbors with the same views regarding a certain important matter: you guessed it right, political beliefs.

They’re going to get into serious trouble for abusing 911 for something they know isn’t a real danger & they will truly regret their actions when they get a hefty fine for wasting time (& potentially putting others in danger, who could’ve been helped sooner, if it weren’t for their false alarms). I’d keep some popcorn close at hand for that moment, LOL. 🤷‍♀️😏

It's not legal in the US. You cannot put a camera facing into someone's fenced backyard, into their window, or anywhere else on their property where they have Reasonable Expectation of Privacy. My neighbor is a convicted child s3x offender and we consulted a lawyer before installing our cameras, as one of them looks at our shared driveway.

The reasons for Britons hating their neighbor seem to be similar to those living in the States; from troublesome pets to unattended gardens, they seem to hate it with a passion equally as strong. However, the things that annoy them more than anything else are not the same as those of their American counterparts, as people in Britain seem to be aggravated by annoying driving habits the most. According to the Daily Mail, there’s nothing worse for them than someone blocking their driveway or parking in their space.

Another thing Britons detest—number seven among the 20 reasons they hate their neighbor—is the latter hosting too many late-night parties. Ironically, reason number 19 is neighbors getting annoyed when the Britons themselves have a party.

True, but there are also people who hate dogs, and even if the dog barks for ten seconds they will complain. We don't know what the situation is here. The dog may bark a lot and drive everybody crazy, or it might be a normal dog, that barks in normal situations, and the neighbour is an a*****e.

Despite the numerous ways they can get on our nerves, neighbors can reportedly have a positive effect on our well-being (well, at least the less annoying ones can). A Rutgers study revealed that low levels of contact with people living nearby are linked to lower levels of satisfaction and psychological well-being in middle and later life.

Spanning over 10 years, the research found out that even though neighbors might not prevent an individual from facing certain hardships, they are an important part of one’s social landscape, whether it’s providing assistance that they do or ensuring daily communication.

Yes, I'm not sure about this one. If your kids play football, baseball or the like, you must make sure the ball can't go over the fence. Once, it's an accident. More than once, it's a nuisance and a danger. What if you are sunbathing peacefully and that thing hits your face? Or if it hits a child, or a dog? Are the neighbours going to pay for the doctor or vet? If you want to be respected, respect other people's property, too.

We live in a neighborhood where not everyone (including us) has a fenced-in yard so it's not uncommon for a ball to find its way into our yard once in a while. The kids are always very respectful about asking, if we are outside, if they can come get their ball. If we aren't outside, I've seen them get the ball and then go right back to their yard without bothering anything else in the yard. It doesn't bother us, but then nothing has been hit or damaged either.

I love when people get pissed someone parked in front of their house/apartment. My house is on a corner lot and my driveway is in the back of the house so I park there and my husband and son park on the side of the house. There is room for another two cars there and two cars in front of my house. I don't get annoyed that someone parks in front of on the side of my house because WE DON'T OWN THE STREET!

Actually this is not "entitlement" as they are not entitled to those street parking spaces. This is an OVERINFLATED sense of entitlement. Entitled is fine. We are all entitled to certain things. Having an overinflated sense of entitlement is the problem.

I lived in a US town not long ago full of no-neck cops on steroids and my neighbors would call them anytime someone they didn't know parked in front of their house. On a public street, not blocking their drive or hydrant or anything. Cops would look up license plate data and ticket vehicle.

Had something like this happen only she came out and yelled at me and gave me 60 seconds "to get it gone". I laughed, she called 911, police gave her an important lesson on the difference between public property and private property and the misuse of the 911 system.

For some, the importance of having friendly neighbors became evident during the pandemic. Due to the lockdown, restrictions, and health-related matters, some people had to rely on the kindness of others, some of whom often lived right next door.

A study on individuals supporting their neighbors during the early stage of the COVID-19 lockdown revealed that they used different means of communication to reach out to those living nearby who needed some sort of help, making even greater effort to contact vulnerable groups.

Their ways of supporting others included everything from delivering food and medical prescriptions, to providing information, advice or even sharing of experiences. Quite a few of such individuals reportedly felt more involved in the neighborhood life after the pandemic and showed interest in committing to it even more in the future.

Where I live, there is a ditch weed that looks a lot like marij- but it isn't (not sure what the actual name of it is, I call it ditch weed). Had a co-worker years ago who moved here from a state (I'm in the USA) where it doesn't grow. He was all excited that "marij- grows in the ditches here." We had to tell him do not, under any circumstances, smoke that. It won't get you high but you will be sick (maybe even dead).

The last line is kind of irronic. And how can he, as an attorney think that the police can do anything just because somebody invites other people to come over and visit them? What laws does he expect them to break, and does he know the law at all? ...and why that kerning? it just makes it super hard to read. So many question, but I guess they all boils down to him being crazy.

While some people hate their neighbors—a few might love them—there are also individuals who don’t know their neighbors to begin with. Pew Research Center revealed that 57% of Americans say they know some of them and roughly one-in-four believe they know most of them. It also pointed out that it’s the older generations that seem to have a larger circle of acquaintances living nearby.

I used to have people block me in all the time once where I rented a house. I tried to be nice. I went house to house. I finally called the cops and they went house to house. They finally began just calling the tow trucks. At this point in my life, I'm not nice anymore and I wouldn't even hesitate to call a tow for this car. Now in my old age I've had to make more than one emergency run to the ER - if your car is in the way, out it goes.

Pew Research Center also found that even in the age of digital technology, neighbors tend to communicate more face-to-face (20%) rather than using the phone or email (7%).

Another interesting thing the survey revealed was that despite not knowing a lot of them, people tend to trust the neighbors they do know; roughly 66% of Americans—who know at least some of their neighbors—would feel comfortable trusting them with a spare set of their keys in case there’s an emergency.

This camera pic is less obvious to me than the fence ones in terms of 'evil'. They MIGHT have placed it there for intruders and it just happens your basement window is in that direction. I say this because a close friend has a neighborhood weirdo (drug and mental health issues) who has come to the side of their house and tried the the windows at night. They know who it is - don't don't have proof. Video from a camera like this would provide the proof.

or instead of standing there taking pictures, try shooing them off or water pistol them they'll soon associate that with "not a good place to be" and avoid the area...same with cats (the shooing doesn't work with those arrogant psychos) but the water pistol works a treat especially if you mix citrus in the water 😉👍 super soaker!!!! that's the word I was thinking of instead of "water pistol"

Yes, depending on the regulations of the town you live in. I'm in the US and can buy the chicks locally in the spring, just like chickens. Or get them on the internet if no local source. Many towns have noise ordinances though, and peacocks and peahens are extremely loud.

So, we specifically don't touch our garden at all for the first 15 weeks, from the start of Spring. Some of our neighbors complained a bit, until we explained our rationale. While it may look a little unkept and untidy by most standards, our garden blossoms with the most incredible wild flowers for those few weeks, and with that comes an abundance of pollinators and small birds, it is like an oasis compared to our neighbors who only have manicured lawns. We then keep it nice and trimmed for the rest of the year, but you best be sure that for the whole of Spring, my garden is going to look a little wild and I love it!

I also love it! But I also think there is a difference between having a garden that's a little wild for a bit to encourage pollination vs someone having a lawn that makes their house look like Freddy Krueger lives there.

Short mowed lawns are an ecological disaster. Those 'pests' that the comments are complaining about are native animals desperately clinging on to what tiny fragments of habitat remain available in built up areas. Without the bees, bugs and caterpillars, the whole food chain starts to crash and burn. Small birds need live food for their babies, and weed seeds as food to sustain them through the winter.

Once I ordered some small canisters off eBay. UPS couldn't find my address so they delivered them to my OLD address. I found this out because I knew they had been delivered and that's they told me. So I drove over to where I lived in my old trailer park and surprise, surprise. The renter there had opened my box and had all the canisters out on the porch, apparently going to use them for planting. I knocked and no one answered, so I dumped the canisters and brought them home. I did let the park manager know what I did, though. He couldn't believe it but I had the opened box with my name and new address on it to prove it.

I know, not really the point...Idk what the item was or how desperately it was needed, but most of the time Amazon will replace the item. Take a picture of your front porch for comparison & let them know your neighbors claim they don't have it. So, I have a habit of removing the label as soon as I get a package (OCD? Don't ask) and wadding it up in a tight ball and trashing it. And I order *a lot* online. So, it *could* happen that I get someone else's package, and if there's no packing slip, I might conclude it was a gift from someone (I often send surprise gifts like this). I once wired a relative some "surprise" money with just a note saying "Enjoy!" but not referencing the amount, and the bank screwed up and wired double the amount and was tben asking my relative for a refund! Oh that pissed me off. (Sorry, tangent). Anyway, things happen.

my experience (atleast here in UK anyway) is if recipient of package isn't home then generally the delivery person takes package with them and leaves a card through the door to arrange alternative delivery time...or if you know you're not going to be home you can contact the delivery company to make alternative arrangements ie: safe space, safe and trusted neighbour or even different address also more often now the delivery person has to take a photo of named recipient with package at named address ...we had huge problems in UK the delivery firms got told yo clean their act up

There are lots of “country lanes” like this where I live, which is on the very edges of a big city. There’s lots of homes built off these tiny lanes. My friends house is at the end of one. When a car approaches from the other direction, one of you pulls over to let the other squeak by. This guy is just being an entitled jerk. I’m laughing at what the damage the duct tape will do to the paint on that car though.

On public road yes, on private road often not. [Which is what allows you to make any sort of parking restrictions ("families with kids" at supermarkets e.g.) which do not really exist... ] so, if on private apartment parking, it's only management that can do something.

It's illegal. And you want to remedy it asap, it's infringing on your property and if you leave it long enough, they can claim it's a valid build because you didn't come forward. It can also make it so you can't sell your home in the future when buyers ee the property is encumbered by your neighbors deck.

Here we go again....BP is, unfortunately, full of passive-aggressive people who are more apt to destroy someone's property rather than have a chat first. It's entirely possible that the neighbors had a contractor build this and the contractor screwed up. What if the neighbor hadn't noticed this mistake yet too. The lot of you would rather just assume the neighbor is malicious and you'd rather respond in a similar malicious manner, which is waaaaaay worse. Being clueless, not using your big kid words, and resorting to Neanderthal behavior.

That's pretty rude ! If there is no communication just start hanging things on them, like Cradle chairs " Amazon $50.00" Thrift stores $10.00. If it was installed by a Pergola/patio cover company, It will void their warranty !

Tell her that she will pay now for a new hedge trimmer, or later in court, along with the legal fees.

A long time ago a neighbor asked if he barrow my lawn mower. A friend gave it to me, it was really old, but ran good. So I let my neighbor use it. Brought it back wi three wheels. When I asked where's the wheel he said they sell wheels at the Home Depot. Last thing I let him use. I you barrow something, return it cleaned up and in good condition.

Reason #23 why I don't lend out my tools to anyone. Too many times they've come back broken, if they came back at all.

We keep our good ones locked up in the shed. My Father-in-law has a habit of "borrowing" things and never bring them back or better yet, lones them out to his friends without telling us where it went.

Don't lend things that you can't afford to replace. That's been my mantra for many a decade, and it works.

I do this myself nearly every time I use my old trimmer. I recently bought a battery version - cheaper than replacing extension leads.

This is what kept happening to my dads every time he let the neighbour borrow it. Flex got shorter and shorter until he said enough was enough and to get their own.

This happens. It just does. It's also not that big a deal in it's self. If you look into it you will find the cord is cheap and easy to remove and replace. YouTube can also help.

ask him nicely not to do so and that it's unacceptable....if that doesn't have desired effect....undo top bolts, grind off ends of bolts to make them flush with brickwork, pass back (in a baggie) all removed parts "these bits belong to you".... remember to record your actions ,sound and vision and most importantly do it in a calm and considered manner (no swearing,no aggressive attitude)

I think sometimes I feel this way by November. People putting up lights when thanksgiving hasn't even came yet but I'm not going to write nasty notes about it. It is annoying to see the commercialism of the holidays so damn early especially for retail shops. Can Halloween past before we start advertising Xmas

Exactly, although it is starting to get excessive, this past September I've seen at least 3 houses with more than just the lights; But i'm not going to write a note about it.

Busybodies who have nothing better to do and who desperately need a hobby other then harassing people for every little thing that bothers them. Probably sits in front of their porch or garage and bothers everyone daily since retirement. Yeah, we got one of those obnoxious persons. And such an obsessed little bully he is.

As a person who has their birthday around Thanksgiving, I could give a f**k when holiday decor becomes available or if someone keeps their lights out year around. My family had a rule - no christmas decor until either after Thanksgiving or my birthday, whichever came second, but that's just my family. I'd be a huge a*****e to insist upon others - Dude, life is hard, if it brings you joy, go on with your bad self - it isn't hurting anyone. As for shops putting out holiday decor in August, whatever. Most businesses (in North America) make a big chunk of their yearly money during the holidays - why not start it early. If you don't like it, don't buy it.

If your hours are unsociable, maybe try to be quiet if you can? If you're slamming doors at 5 am every morning, people have reason to be annoyed.

got to have some consideration for others in the early hours...noise travels better/louder in the dead of night/early hours... probably wouldn't hear a thing shutting vehicle doors with the same vigour in the daytime....though I'd rather the complainant spoke with me directly and not with a "threatening" letter,or atleast write the letter differently, aggression only begets aggression

"dear neighbour, would you mind shutting your vehicle doors with a bit less vigour.... appreciate you have to work ungodly shift times...it's no one's fault that noise travels louder at such times it does wake us up with start/shock then struggle to get back to sleep again, really appreciate it , many thanks"

My neighbor leaves for work while it is still dark in the morning. Every day, he remote-starts his gigantic, diesel-powered pickup truck and lets it run for 20-30 minutes before he leaves...right outside my bedroom window.
