7 Years Ago She Said "Yes" To Me With This $500 Fruity Pebble Of A Diamond When I Was Broke. I Make $200k Now. I Surprised Her With An Upgrade For Valentine's Day

She said to return it, that "anything else would be a downgrade" because of what this little dot means to her. So I am returning this $8k upgrade and I'm taking her to Korea and Japan this winter instead for the same price.

This should be at the top. The world needs more people who care more about the love than the price tag.

One important reason why we, as humans, love wholesome content is because it helps build and reinforce hope. Psychologists really can’t overstate just how crucial it is for us to feel like there is a chance the future will be better. Interestingly, researchers have also found a connection between hope and creativity.

After all, making something new means committing to the possibility that his unknown thing will turn out well. Positive thinking, which can be toxic in a few instances, ultimately helps keep our minds active and helps us maintain our desire to keep trying.

One important part of hope isn't just “teaching” us about the possibility that good things can happen, it’s reminding us that they have happened. Unfortunately, our brains can be a bit selective with what they remember, leading to us “conveniently” forgetting the good things we’ve gone through and just focusing on the bad.

It is important to remember that hope can be problematic in large “doses” as some people, overwhelmed by positive emotions, can start to develop unrealistic goals and expectations, which will just come to harm them in the long run. This is why real stories are important, but they need to be “tempered” with the help of a specialist, like a therapist, if a person is really going through a depressive spell.

Researchers have also established a pretty strong connection between hope and not just mental health, but physical as well. People dealing with recovery after injury and illness tend to always do better if they demonstrate or report feelings of hope, versus feelings of intermittent sadness. So when you are looking at a list of wholesome images, perhaps bookmark it for a rainy day, it could actually help.

I have a few bits of my dad's writing from after his accident. His brain damage was catastrophic, but for the first few years after he came out of his coma, he could still write a word or two. He had multiple strokes after that, and died 21 years after his accident. I lost "my dad" on the day of his accident, but I treasure each bit I have left of him from before - and after - his accident.

I too had the last of my student loan forgiven. I have been paying for the last 28 years, and I have worked for either public schools or the state since I graduated. In reality, I paid back far more than I borrowed in total, and while I know some people are very angry about loan forgiveness, for those of us that have served the community instead of taking higher paying jobs, this is really important. Yes, I chose to serve, when I could have "done more" ... but if some of us don't take on these jobs, there would be no one left to teach children or tend to the necessities of our communities.

The Bush and Trump administrations claimed the credit for their big tax cuts to the rich - without any mention of the rest of the U.S. taxpayers, who had to assume the burden. I've never seen an administration that credited the taxpayers, and I go back to Truman. (Yes, folks, Harry S Truman.)

I'm one of those. My parents made enough money but chose not to support my college education. I worked part to full time throughout college for my living expenses and paid tuition with loans. I spent 20 years working both full-time and part-time at the same time, paying the loans back, and paid twice as much, almost exactly, as what I took out. AND I AM SOOOOO HAPPY FOR THE PEOPLE WHO DIDN'T HAVE TO STRUGGLE LIKE I DID! I'm so glad the world can be a little bit better.

My husband is 45, and we just paid off his loan last year. Was it a struggle? Of course. Would we love to see others NOT have to struggle. 1000x YES. Funny, because I remember hearing from my parents' generation how much they hoped for a better future for their children. I wonder at what point that transformed into needing them to suffer the same hardships that they did.

Nice way to buy votes. People put in writing that they'd repay their loan. Now a political faction, not congress, buys votes rather than have student loan debtors fulfill their written loan obligations.

The feds do not "forgive" student loans, as they are only the guarantor of the loan. They bought your debt from the bank, and then placed it into general government debt, to be paid back via taxes or govt borrowing. It is just a shifting around of the debt, and one the Supreme Court said was illegal, as only Congress could do it, and Biden admin has been doing this is defiance of the Supreme Court which is illegal and sets up a precedent for Admins to ignore the Supreme Court at will (so if Trump wins, enjoy what you standards you established for him). A study by George Mason U discovered 80% of those who benefit from such programs are middle and upper middle class, but the payments of the debt end up being disproportionate on non-college educated lower income. They called it the greatest wealth transfer program for the poor to those earning better than them
