The sad part is that Hitler at least had a tigger to go off on - France's demands based on the Treaty of Versailles, the annexation of the Ruhr area and using african colonial troops for the occupation kinda shifted the opinion of the people towards him. If it was necessary to feed or give my kids a chance at a better life, I would cross any border. I would steal. I would do what it takes. I don’t understand why people don’t get that. I feel like the people doing these things are desperate. They aren’t coming on a long vacation or to try to scam the social services in our country. Why hate people who are trying to survive. I don’t understand why we hate poor people so much in this country, blame them for being poor, and punish them so much for it.

Well, all presidents have deported undocumented immigrants. Biden had deported more in his first two months than Trump did. That's not new. (No country just allows everyone in who wants in.) What you need to focus on is Trump's doing this without due process, defying court orders, misusing alien enemies act, and with enhanced cruelty, and things like allowing agents into F*****G SCHOOLS! And not bringing home Kilmar Abrego Garcia (I think his name is). And deporting people for things protected by free speech (which applies to everyone in the US, not just citizens.) The trouble is the pathway to citizenship is very time-consuming and expensive. Immigrants sneak into the US illegally because they don't have the time or money to do it legally. They have kids and family members to care for, so most of them want to get into the US and find some kind of work and shelter as quickly as possible. Not saying I think it's right to do it illegally, but I understand. And if I were in their shoes, especially with children to care for, I would probably do the same thing.

Trump's reasoning behind his tariffs do not make sense either, it's natural that some countries have trade deficits with others. One analogy I saw summed it up nicely. The writer was saying that he has a trade deficit with his barber. He pays for the barber to cut his hair but his barber does purchase his services as the barber has no need of them. I have a rifle. My sister has 4. Most of my town is hunters and sportsmen, there’s lots of guns. My parents have a gun and a really fun pellet rifle haha (I know that doesn’t count lol). We do have guns in Canada. And self-defence laws :) idk why MAGA insists we don’t haha, there’s that lack of education again. They’re not the same guns the US has but we’re not gun-less.

The difference is that here in Canada people need to prove they're responsible enough to have a gun, while in the US, anyone with hands can have a firearm. Fun fact, our gun laws also cover crossbows, because they can be left loaded, which is dangerous.

There are countries with high numbers of guns per capita yet extremely low rates of gun violence (Sweden, Finland, Norway, Switzerland, Japan, ...). I don't necessarily blame the prevalence of guns in the US; I blame the culture. If we want to fix things, let's start with overhauling the NRA. They shouldn't be allowed to lobby. They should go back to their original charter, education.

The problem, from my view, is whose God? My SIL, a very religious person, espoused prayer in schools. "So the kids in Dearborn Mich. would pray to Allah"..(huge Muslim population). "Oh, NO!".."but that's how it works!". The founders weren't dopes, through history they KNEW most conflict comes from whose God is better. Americans do not need to 'get rid of Republicans' they need to get rid of people who wrap themselves in the Constitution, but dismiss little details like the "Establishment clause'. The 'good' ones in the GOP agree on most things with Dems, but differ on details.

Because the U.S. lets ordinary people have guns that were designed for mass murder. Most Canadian gun owners have hunting rifles, not designed or intended for shooting at humans. And we're careful not only who gets one, but also that they are stored safely. You can be subject to a random inspection of your gun safety practices in your home. Proper locked cabinet, ammunition stored elsewhere under lock and key. Bet you anything once a USian has a gun there is no follow up or accountability for the way that gun is used or stored.

Still hard to believe he won ALL the Swing States. That said, there is excellent research on how, in only those states, there was notable last minute shifting of votes. Michigan for example, until election day, had Harris the clear winner, but on the day, she lost. There are investigations happening.
