We have all grown up idolising certain actors and actresses because of the looks, versatility, charisma or other qualities that they bring to their various film and television roles, or maybe because of the way they've conducted themselves in real life, only to have their lives tragically end.

Whose loss have you found the most hard-hitting, and why?

For me personally, I think the one who stands out most, whose loss was an "OMG No!" moment has to be Alan Rickman.

Ever since he came to the world's stark attention in "Die Hard", he was noted for the amazingly nuanced and believable acting he brought to so many great characters. There was an undeniable humanity that he breathed into his roles that forced viewers to connect with those characters, even when they were despicable. His perfect portrayal of sarcasm, for instance, was one of his great strengths that just drew you in and made you identify with the people he played - even if you would really rather not!

I'm very glad he was chosen to play Severus Snape in the Harry Potter films. He acted the part so very memorably, that his extinct talent will be preserved in the minds of a younger generation for decades to come. Thank-you Alan Rickman - R.I.P.

The two that stand out are the movie cowboy Roy Rogers, and Sir Ian Holm.

Roy because he was my crush at 5 years old and because he seemed like a wonderful person.

Ian because he was the first of the LOTR cast to pass away. He leaves a legacy. I'm just lucky to have been alive when they were all here.
