Breathtaking Portraits Of Ballet Dancers Practicing On The Streets Of New York
A few months ago we featured Omar Roble's amazing photographs of ballet dancers on the streets of Cuba. Well now he's back with another mesmerizing collection of famous dancers performing on the streets of New York City.
The Puerto Rico born, NYC-based photographer, who has over 200k followers on Instagram, works with dancers from the American Ballet Theatre and The Dance Theatre of Harlem (and many more) to create his stunning street portraits of dancers in motion. Set against the urban backdrop of New York, the calming composure and elegance of his subjects creates a perfect contrast with the hustle and bustle of everyday life in the city that never sleeps.
“Ballet dancers make us feel as if their movements were truly effortless," Robles writes on his blog. "This while pushing their bodies to the very extreme of what is humanly possible. It is that grace and elegance which mesmerizes us.”

Such joy and abandon! I hope the landing was safe... that road paint can be very slippery.

The line of reflection is at an angle, not direct down the mirror line. But as you say, it is hard to see how her whole reflection is in the mirror. Brilliant shot

He just belly flops onto her. And they have to do this many times just to get the picture right.

A lot of Break dancers freeze like that (without the pointed feet, of course).

Such explosively joyful movement. They push themselves through grueling athleticism to make these moves look as fluid as water pouring from a pitcher. Stunning human beauty and achievement.
