This Mother Finally Gives Birth To A Girl After Having 10 Boys In A Row
241Kviews
Probably no one would argue that some of us like to stick to the plan at whatever cost and some of us would just rather go with the flow whenever possible. But, as the saying goes, man plans and God laughs. And despite one’s beliefs, probably all of us can find some kind of beauty in the surprises life brings us. This particular British family has probably had more of them than anyone else, especially when it comes to parenthood. But how else can it be living with so many children, they sure are in for a rollercoaster. Scroll down below to find out about their latest one!
This is the Brett family with their newest addition, a baby girl
After having her youngest son with quite an unusual name of Rothagaidh two years ago, Alexis Brett became the first Mom in Britain to give birth to 10 boys in a row and thought her family was complete. But it later turned out life had a little surprise planned for her and the whole family as well – a new addition. Therefore, just a couple of weeks ago, she became a mother of 11 just at 39 years old. She has spent more than 8 years being pregnant during the last 18 years of her life and is now very happy with her big family.
The girl is named Cameron and is the 11th child

After her long streak of boys, Alexis finally gave birth to a baby girl and decided to name her Cameron. The happy parents say she changed the family dynamics quite a bit with all the brothers being super attentive not to wake their little sister and being more well-behaved in general. This sure brings much joy to the parents, who say this last pregnancy was unplanned but did get them over the moon, as they expected it would be yet another boy after finding out about expecting another baby. The delighted mother adds that they are definitely stopping now. “There’ll be no more. I said that last time but this time, I absolutely mean it. I love my family as it is now.”
The first 10 being boys that are now aged from 2 to 17

The family is used to people commenting by now and not all the remarks are very pleasant. Alexis says, “Some people think we must be on benefits but we’re not. David has a good job, which means we don’t even qualify for full child benefit.” Her husband is a train driver and usually leaves the house around 5:30, leaving his wife to use the little quiet time she has in the morning before the kids wake up to enjoy her cup of coffee and a shower. Even though life is not easy being a mom to 11 kids as she has to do 49 loads of laundry a week and hoover seven times a day, Alexis plans to get back to work as a part-time fitness instructor in a few weeks.
After Cameron was born, the mom of 11 says she feels the family is now complete

Of course, it is not all sunshine and rainbows and Alexis admits to sometimes exchanging looks with her husband David and thinking, “What have we done,” but the kids always come up with something surprising then, melting the hearts of their parents and making it all worthwhile in the end.
And the Internet is slightly conflicted about their news

It's just utterly ridiculous in this day and age to have that many children.
So much breeding, this is why the planet is in collapse.
The planet isnāt about to collapse. The planet it will survive. That said, the megafauna (elephants, rhinos, polar bears, etc.) are pretty much screwedāand itās because the ZPG movement (Zero Population Growth) of the late 1960s/early 1970s came and went without really effectively getting their message out there. Prior to the 1960s, birth control was unreliable and frequently not used at all; however, The Pill changed all that. That was the genesis of the Sexual Revolution, and birth rates did go down, but not nearly enough. Iām glad Iāll be dead when things get really bad; I really donāt understand how people can bring children into a world of increasing scarcity.
And the reasoning behind this would be...? I'm not trolling here, I'm genuinely asking.
If this was the norm, it would take one single generation for the total population to rise fivefold. Probably more like quadrupling, since not everybody can or want to have children. It is bad enough to add another billion in a generation.
Hi, Orillion. I absolutely agree with you. I did not imply that this is common at all, I tried to answer his question in a way that would also make people think. Later, I checked what I said about adding another billion in a generation. I am troubled to say that I was off the mark by a fair bit. Right now, we will become a billion more much faster than a generation. To Full Name, if much more people than now chose to not have children, and many more would opt for fewer children, then the chances for longtime survival of humans, as well as an awful lot of other species on our little planet would increase greatly.
@Monika Soffronow I'm fairly confident in saying families like this are, and will always be, extreme outliers. This is not a case where people will read this and go "we should have 11 kids too".
The ignorance in the responses to your question are astounding. Do these people also criticize people that have zero children? If we all had no children then the population would go to zero in one lifetime.

Who are you to say? Some people want 0 and they wanted 11. Plus they can afford them!

If you can't figure this out on your own then I really don't feel like helping you.
Why
Overpopulation is a thing! Stupid, selfish and downright evil!
They're rank amateurs compared to America's Reality TV right-wing-extreme-Christian baby factory known as the Duggars.
Apparently the entire country of India also didn't read that memo!
The fertility rate for India in the year 2017: about 2.3 children born per woman of childbearing age. According to the World Health Organization, 2.1 is the replacement rate.
this!! thank you
And what does that have to do with you and this day and age?

It's her body and her choice.
But it's not her planet

People can have as many children as they want what gives YOU the right to say its "utterly ridiculous". It's THEIR choice.

Says who? You? It doesn't make any less sense for this woman to have ten children then it does for anyone to not have children. For all the talk of pro-choice in society some of you @sshats sure do like to sh1t on the people who decide to embrace having children. Get lost.
Its not about having children, it is about having 11 (eleven) children! Why do you make so many? Do you think the kids are happy wearing their older brothers' clothes and not having any attention from their mother being bussy with the latest baby? Do you honestly think it is a good idea? Also - the Earth is overpopulated and soon we will have to restrict ourselves to having one child - why she gets to have 11 - how are her genes better than anyone else?
Victoria, would you defend my right to use nuclear weapons? No, I did not think so. Not everything is, or should be, on the "my-choice-if-I-want-to spectrum. At the present moment, we, as a species, by means of overpopulating it, are destroying our one and only planet as efficiently as if were nuking it. Besides that, try to rein in your pottymouth a little, you will find that people will be more willing to engage with you.
I have seen and personally know far too many people to whom it is just another boost in their Family Allowance or an increase to their welfare cheques ... I won't even start on all the women running around having babies just try and 'keep their man' o_0

Yeah, we need a lot of vegetarians to compensate for that incredibly huge, selfish carbon footprint.
Believe me, it's not vegetarians who make all the difference in terms of carbon footprints. Like, be a vegetarian all you want, but that's not a very good reason given the evidence.
Well, the dad is a train driver enabling many people to make their journeys without cars so I guess it balances out.

We're constantly being told in the West that we need immigrants because we're having too few children and that our populations are below replacement levels.
Ever think of adopting a girl after say the 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th boy?
She probably wouldn't be eligible. Suprising amount of rules around adoption.
Indeed. In the UK, friends were made clear very quickly it wasn't going to happen unless one of them gave up their job, and strongly preferably she (senior lecturer) if not he (full professor). Who cares their colleagues in similar situations are raising their (own) kids no problem.
Nowhere in the article does it say that she was trying for a girl. A lot of the in-article commenters assume that too, and the use of "finally" in the title sure implies it, but reading through it really sounds like she just wanted a lot of kids.
Adoption is too hard in many places. It's both faster and easier to go for IVF or get a surrogate to bring a new child into this world than it is to adopt a child in desperate need of a home. I get that it needs to be strict to ensure kids don't go to bad parents but come on......
Not sure if there's a religious aspect here, but a lot of fundies won't adopt because they believe that children can biologically inherit their parents' sin.
In a way that's true. Epigenetics. There is indeed a nature component to nurture vs nature.
Actually, after the 2nd rug-rat.

Ever thought of minding your own business and not judging a woman for having as many kids as she wants?
The dad tho he looks like he lost his will to live like 4 boys ago and they just kept sucking the life out of him each time she had another.
True but he could have done something about it, lol.
Very true, technically he is 1/2 a contributor........I was gonna say "or is he" but all the kids look EXACTLY the same so he is definitely a contributor lol
Each time she had another? it takes two to get pregnant, if he didn't want any more he should have put a knot in it.
Well, I assume he did contribute...
hahhahaha true
Looks like the second tallest kid had a lot of life sucked out of him too lol

That is just mean.
I'm completely okay with letting people live their own lives as long as it doesn't negatively affect others, but that doesn't mean I can't shake my head in wonderment at the absolute insanity here.

I'm curious whether their incomes can support the kiddos or if they receive assistance from the government.
'Alexis says, āSome people think we must be on benefits but weāre not. David has a good job, which means we donāt even qualify for full child benefit.ā'
Reading is good. Try it. You can start with the very fucking article you're commenting about.
People are upset because of the name Cameron; are we skipping over the fact that the youngest boy is named Rothagaidh?
Why are people so upset about that name, anyway? "After finally getting a girl you'd think it would be girlier", honestly she seemed pretty neutral about the gender. Much as the writers are playing up that angle, it doesn't sound like she thinks she "finally" got a girl at all.
Yes it does sound like she 'finally' got a girl: "After Cameron was born, the mom of 11 says she feels the family is now complete." How else is one to interpret that?
ROFL
good luck to any boy who breaks her heart...
LMAO
I'm surprised by some of the very judgmental comments on this post. I don't know why they chose to have so many kids, but it's really not my business, is it? If they are able to take care of them physically, emotionally and financially, then it's not my problem. Some people have no kids. Some people have one or two horrible ones. Some people can make 11 brilliant ones. Let's not rush to judgment.
wish i could upvote this more! disgusting how many people here are shaming this woman
Congratulations, I came from a family of 11.
I notice the keyboard warriors are blasting this family, but haven't said boo directly to you. Pathetic keyboard warrior cowards they are.
Well, duh, āFull Nameā. Itās not Danās fault that he came from a family of 11. Why would someone say anything to him?
I want to know if after giving birth to 10 kids does labor go something like this " 1 contraction, a sneeze, and a baby"?
Well, close. The father stands back with a catchers mitt.

and conceiving; like throwing a hotdog down a hallway. i'll see myself out...
I can't believe how many people here are shaming this incredible woman. Obviously motherhood like this isn't for most people, and takes an insane amount of work and dedication, but I applaud her for raising such a beautiful family! Shaking my head at all the people criticising her and calling her ridiculous and saying she should adopt. Her family is big and beautiful.
I've grown up around many families this large, as a homeschooler myself I understand very well how demanding this kind of life can be, but I also know that with the right structure and support around her it con be an absolutely wonderful and enriched life. Maybe she has relatives who help out or maybe she hires nannies for the younger kids, who knows, but who are you to judge someone you don't even know?
This comment is hidden. Click here to view.
Ok, so you think she can help all her 11 children with homework, love them equally, give them personal time and support. She will listen to their complaints one by one and make them feel valuable? Or she will send them to an older brother to solve their problems? This is not a healthy family, poor older children
This comment is hidden. Click here to view.
How can you not see the absolute look of shellshock on that poor dadās face?
Sasha Albanese, youāre wrong. Dad earns good money as a train driver, and Mumās a fitness instructor, returning to work soon. Donāt judge everyone by your own standards.
How in heck can she be thinking of āreturning to workā even part time? What, is she going to make the older kids bring up the younger while sheās out playing? Because thatās what it will appear to the whole world that she is doing.
That's exactly what the Duggars did. Foisted off a lot of the child rearing onto the older ones. Disgusting phonies.
After considering responses I just want to say: "That's stupid. You're stupid."
Ok, come on with all of this negativity!! I think this is beautiful. The family looks well put together, happy, maybe a bit tired and frazzled around the edges, but it's their family. If having a big family makes them happy, who the hell are we to judge?! They're not receiving government assistance, the kids aren't made out to be uncontrolled hooligans tearing the city apart. They're not harming anyone. Leave them alone and let them be happy! The mom doesn't look like she's falling apart. In fact, so looks soft, feminine, happy. The dad probably wore the same expression 1 kid in, and it hasn't changed 11 kids in. Leave them alone.
Have you heard of overpopulation?
What does this tell her boys; that they aren't enough.
If at first you don't succeed, try try try try try try try try try try again
I understand the desire to have a lot of babies! Totally! I also think being a good parent is extremely important, and I think she is that. But things have changed in our world, unfortunately. With overpopulation, resource depletion and especially the climate crisis, having 11 of oneās own kids is irresponsible, in my opinion. And to express pity for the mother because she has no time, has to do so much laundry, etc. Why? She chose that life. Sheās not doing the world any favours by having a large family. Also, why should it be a big deal that she can have babies? Whoopee. What an inane article.
I like that she's happy, but it's a really strange way to be happy, that looks like an obsession for me, or just pure - whatever thing. Whenever I see a mother having so much children I ask myself did she do anything outside of making those, being pregnant and giving birth? What a fulfilling life - to constantly look after and clean after a football team :D It makes me sad that some people never grow beyond their biological purpose of life and grow their own potential, but are just reproducing as much as possible... And let the hate and downvotes begin :)
There are many countries in which it is not unusual to have five or more children happily; my boyfriend is one of eight. What disturbs me is that so many people insist on "girly" names: are we still there, where we have to divide people by "acceptable" sex-oriented labels? And, as it happens, I did a search on the name, and its origin is, in fact, as a Scottish girl's name.
My mother finally had me after 4 boys. I personally wouldāve given up after the second child, regardless of boy or girl. Gender is irrelevant.
I don't understand her at all.
And because of this kind of rampant procreation the earth will be effectively dead and none of those kids will ever reach old age
Thankfully, very few people have families that big nowadays. Most of my paternal ancestors in the 18th and 19th century had families that big, sometimes even bigger. Wife #1 would die in childbirth bearing kid #9, so the widower would marry again quickly to have someone to look after all those kids... and then she'd have 9 or 10 of her own.
Very few people in the US have families that big nowadays.
This comment is hidden. Click here to view.
not true.. many people in the developing countries have 9 - 10 children, which grow up uneducated and dont have much chance to live a normal life.
Humans will all die off because these people haven't heard of Trojan? As I've said with others, you're more than welcome to set the example, showing us how the earth would be better with less people in it.
See, condoms are for people who don't want children, so while I'm sure they've heard of them, that's not really the issue, here.
Yeah, right... Healthy minimum fertility rate for country should be 2.1. TFR for UK in 2017 is 1.74 and is constantly declining over the years. A lot of people choose not to have children or have only one child, so this family is totally outnumbered by child free families.
That's population explosion in one household https://youtu.be/fNxctzyNxC0
any guy who breaks her heart is gonna get one painful ass beating lmao
Oh god...imagine being the only girl with 10 brothers...
Hopefully the dad isnāt full of toxic masculinity ideologies and the boys then arenāt inculcated into it.
jesus, give up already
The comments are tremendously hypocritical. You dickheads are all alive and think that's just fine in an overpopulated world, yet these kids shouldn't be alive for the same reason? Fucking kill yourselves then and set the example. This family is such an outlier that they are an absolute drop in the bucket. You are all giant hypocrites unless you live in the woods and hunt/forage for food. Wait, you're on the internet so you are also contributing to all the "global warming/overpopulation" problems. Assholes.
I didnāt ask to be born. I wish I hadnāt been. So bite my shiny metal ass.
Totally agree! Families that large are such a rare sight these days, at least in Europe, and some people still have nerve to blame them for overpopulation.
Omg. I completely agree , right on the money. And HILARIOUS!! I CAN'T LOVE THIS COMMENT ENOUGH!!
Dad doesn't look so thrilled. lol
Naaaaw. She didn't "give birth"...she WHELPED a singlet. Carbon footprints galore, here. Ugh. And do not pretend it wasn't their goal: "After Cameron was born, the mom of 11 says she feels the family is now complete." Complete, as in feeling fulfilled by a girl baby. This is disgusting. I don't give a crap if the spermy the dad has a good job as a train driver. He could be HIT by one tomorrow and she'd be minus a paycheck. Selfish, irresponsible fools.
Not only a grotesque carbon footprint, but they look like a family of serial killers.
This is repulsive and exceptionally irresponsible
So she had Draco Malfoy and the entire Weasley clan?
"After Cameron was born, the mom of 11 says she feels the family is now complete" Goodness....I would HOPE so.
Oof. 10 older brothers.
What this would tell me if I was one of her boys was that I wasn't good enough. She didn't stop until she had a girl.
I'm going to say what I know we're all thinking, but hope isn't true: I bet you could park a freighter in her buhginer. Lololol Good. Freaking. Grief. 10?! Really? Do they hide in there when it rains?
My grandparents did almost the same thing. Had six girls until they had my dad. FINALLY a boy they could name after my granddad. :P my mom has three sisters, so I have nine aunts and no (biological) uncles... :')
Is Plan B outlawed in that country?
It's like the opposite of "The Loud House"
And this is why you always use condoms, kids.
That last photo just sums it up!
wow! I know a family that just had their 13th
Who the hell produces 11 chidlren nowadays??? Our overcrowded planet is going tits up and a woman who lives in a country not only allows her to control her own body but also has free birth control pops out one after the other. God help any children in the middle if they actually have any issues/problems that need a certain amount of time or money to take care of!
There are plenty of child free families to balance it.
So you are allowed to exist but these kids aren't? If the planet is overcrowded you are more than welcome to show us an example of it having less people. Maybe others will follow your lead and you'll get what you want.
shame on you for judging this woman because she chose to have a large family. A few extra kids in one family won't make even the tiniest difference to overpopulation in the large scheme of things. And you have no idea of her financial situation. If she chooses to open her heart to a large family and commit to raising those children I applaud her.
Only one dude got his mumās white hair XD
So a happy couple has the family of their dreams, takes care of them on their own income entirely, and people can only comment heir own preferences for how many kids they think other people should have, or how to name their children? How about leave people alone to live their own lives and be happy? What's crazy is a lot of the same people will fight for "reproductive choice", but when the choice is different from their own (to have a large family), all of a sudden they come out criticizing and demanding that other people can't decide to get pregnant as many times as they want????
What a foolish thing to do. Iām with the negative comments here that are using reason and rationality (Iām NOT with the ones who are just being name-calling assholes spreading the āwelfare queenā myth).
Everyone is so ready to jump on the wagon to bash this married mother and father for having so many children! That they are happy with and are taking care of as a family! But I donāt see anyone bashing these little tramps that have one baby after another with different fathers and depend on the welfare system to support them with all the aide they can freely get each time they pop out another one? Come on here!
Yay, another ignorant person spreading the āwelfare queenā myth. Do some actual reading instead of getting your āinformationā from conservatives who hate the poor and want to stop paying their fair share into society.
Pffff...:D
Lincoln Loud, in reverse y'all!
Damn this comer section is a warzone

Nevermind the name, how can you afford 11 children!?!?
This comment has been deleted.
I mean it's their business, they look happy, healthy and well cared. It's not the worst case: Imagine there would have been 10 girls, they would have to build a shed just for the sanitary articles! And then...no, I stop here.
The 11th pregnancy surprised them ... WHAT? Didn't they learn anything? Anything? Why did she have so many children? Just to have a girl? Is she going to stop now? I think it it absolutely selfish to bring that many children to the world - do you even think she will have time for all of them - no, they will basically raise themselves. Maybe the girl will get all the attention. Also .. the planet.
"Is she going to stop now?". Read the article.
I know plenty of women who don't have time even for the one or two children that they do have.

Why does that one kid look like Joffrey Baratheon lol
Imagine all those college fees.... Like goddamn that's too many kids
The odds of this are 1/1024. Crazy
Great. More people...
Over population is a real thing. It's great that you can fed and cloth all of them without assistance so it's kind of like nobody's business until you agree to publicity. I only had an older brother which seemed normal to me. My friends that had 3 or 4 siblings always commented on how lucky I was to have parents with so much time for my brother and I. They felt lost in a crowd and felt the parents just didn't have time to focus on each child. My parents knew every friend and the friends parents. They went to every school play, choir performance, softball and football game, parent teacher conference and dance recital. When my brother and I met and married our spouses my parents doted on each of their 5 grandchildren making each one feel special. I don't see how you could possibly do this with 11 kids. Even if you could you would be too tired. My Mother was number 10 out of 11 children. That is why she vowed to only have 2. My grandmother had 46 grandchildren.
It helps to be in a country where everyone does the same thing. If you're somewhere where large families are unusual, parents don't always have the same support or training for so many children.
It's a vagina, not a clown car...
11 kids and you name the girl as a boy
Cameron Diaz might not agree...
People like this should be sterilised
you first please
The third from last boy already has the "attention deficiency chubbyness"
Nickname haha
You're killing us all. #Overpopulation
When you're worried your welfare will get taken away.
British family and there is a cap on benefits allowed.
Poor dad. He working working and working...
All families come in different shapes, sizes and numbers. Having 11 children is not something you should hate on. In this day and age I guess it would be considered "unusual" but it's certainly not a bad thing and I've got mad respect for this Momma! You go girl!
What a silly name for a girl, obviously wanted another BOY ??
Cameron Diaz...
Like a backwards Loud House.

I mean wtf , what is the point of this. I work in obgy ,only a masochist would wanna be pregnant that many times. Oh poor ,poor mother Earth. I wish Earth could have abortions.
I actually love being pregnant, my body my choice right???? So the Earth should be able to kill my very much loved, very much wanted, 3 children (4 actually, one in my belly right now and I am excited!!!!) at it's will, against mine? By the way, they do very well in school, are fed healthy food, and we take them in family field trips every week. My pregnancies are healthy, I get tired and that's about it. No pain...so I don't exactly find it unpleasant.

I don't agree with people doing that to get a boy, I still don't agree when it's for a girl. There are already to many people on this planet. Also, I guess the message to boy 3 to 10, at least, is "hey, you don't really count, we wanted a girl".
did you even read the bit in the article saying they were happy with their family as it was, they weren't trying for a girl, and number 11 was a surprise?
Then why the remark about feeling 'complete'?: "After Cameron was born, the mom of 11 says she feels the family is now complete"

Just pitiful. There's no reason to have so many kids unless you're adopting. They must be incredibly uneducated as to what's going on in the world - overpopulation, global warming, etc. A great copy of one of those USA reality show families the world loves to make fun of. Get your tubes tied woman.
"There's no reason to have so many kids unless you're adopting." How about "They're self sufficient and they seem like a loving family"? How this affects other people is beyond me. Off yourself if the world has too many people.

So irresponsible. Adoption isn't that hard, if they are able to raise so many children, they would be allowed to adopt. Bringing so many children to the world that is dying from overpopulation is just cruel for Mother Earth. Shame
You must have horrible parents then. They brought you into this already overpopulated world. Make sure you shame them constantly.

Why do you think that?

National Health abuse. But we need it here in America.

Can't he use condoms, or finish on her face?

In your opinion.

Yes, says me. My fuking opinion. Yours sucks.
