From people and plants to cars and buildings, time eventually wears everything out. Sometimes it takes weeks or months, other times it can take years or decades, but eventually everything begins to crumble beneath the unstoppable pressure of Father Time.
Check out this fascinating list to see what we mean. Compiled by Bored Panda, the pictures below contain everything from marble floors worn down by feet to kitchen knives that have almost lost their blades due to years of constant use. Don't forget to vote for your favorite, and feel free to add to the list!

When My Brother Was Born In 1985, My Mother Purchased Two Identical Teddy Bears. The One On The Left Has Been My Brother's For 30 Years, The One On The Right Has Been Kept In Storage For My Brother's First Child Who Was Born Today
I wonder if the one on the left has been through the washing machine a few times? :O
It's hard to believe they were they are identical teddy bears!!!! Amazing!!!
This makes me think of the book The Velveteen Rabbit. (Right bear to left bear: "Someday, I'll be Real too...")
Your brother has been playing with a teddy bear for 30 years? Isn't he a little old for that?
Before And After Power-Washing. New York Used To Be A Much Dirtier City Back When The Northeast Ran On Coal Plants
And on a positive note, technology has advance to the point where it may take centuries for the residue of the Industrial Revolution to build up like that again. :D
....don't worry. Trump will make sure that never happens.
Load More Replies...I wouldn't put the blame all on the coal plants. When I've visited the city , auto exhaust & dirt particles are everywhere. I have returned to the Plaza , or, wherever else I've stayed, & washed grayish grime off my face after walking outside for an hour or so.
I'm with you. Dirty old town. Except it's not that old. :)
Load More Replies...well. With "Back-to-Coal-Trump" it will look that way again, soon...
That's also from decades of car exhaust in the city. You see a lot of tree trunks in the parks that are nearly black.
And Trump wanna revive the dirty Coal Industry when there are opportunities for cleaner energies. There are job opportunities in Solar and Wind power industries, from manufacture to instillation to cleaning and maintenance of solar cells and wind turbines.
Makes you think about what "bring back the coal industry" really means.
Glad I liv in Canada where 80% of our power come form hydroelectric dams.
And what happened to all of that dirty water? How was that disposed of?
They did this in Scotland years ago, looked great, but the stone is now subject to the weathering that it had been protected from previously
Trump wants to MAGA back to the dirty coal times on the left of the past

Well now, you shouldn't believe everything you reed on the internet. Shame on you Bored Panda!

Load More Replies...To anyone wondering this is real! THis is my father and he drove a truck for 28 years! HE was in the New England journal of medicine. HE has a heart of gold. Don't judge a book by its cover
As a photographer the story that this photo tells is amazing. To the woman commenting that is her father, cherish him always. This is a good reminder to always wear sunscreen, but in his haydays they didn't think those things.
This outcome is true for me, also. My left forearm and hand near the car window is much more age spotted than my right arm and hand. My case is not as extreme as this photo shows, but it's there all the same!
My Grandfather Has Carried This Silver Dollar In His Pocket Since 1952
My grandmother gave my dad (her son-in-law) a silver dollar for luck when he went to WWII. He carried it until he died in 1986.
It's Lady Liberty. It's often referred to as the Morgan dollar, after the designer, if you want to learn more about it.
Load More Replies...I bet he like to fondle this coin while in his pocket, sort of like a worry stone.
I think it's the acidity of his skin... coins were made from purer metals BITD. I played the flute (briefly) in the 1070s, and I wore all the silver off the 'buttons' or whatever you call them. I had a silver-toned flute with copper-toned buttons! I was told this was due to the ph of my skin.
My grandfather had one that looked like this after carrying it for many years.

Footprints Are Carved Into The Floorboards By Monk Who Has Prayed At The Same Spot For 20 Years
Wood doesn't work that way. It would only be worn down if the monk hat moved a lot over that place, but he didn't . Just standing on wood wouldn't make dents - it might lower a section, but not carve out footprints. Especially not the toes! there's no weight on a toe, how would it indent so far down that you would spot the individual ones? Sorry- I call "fake" for this.
The monk did move a lot over the same place. Over 20 years, he kowtowed a few thousand times daily. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/picturegalleries/worldnews/4840238/Footprints-are-carved-into-the-floorboards-by-monk-who-has-prayed-at-the-same-spot-for-20-years.html?image=7

At least he has something to show for praying. Normally u get nothing. This still does seem fishy but cool idea.
What do you mean you get nothing? Ever hear of faith? That tends to be the usual reason people pray is because of their faith in someone or something. Praying isn't like a magical lamp where a genie pops out and gives you 3 wishes like you seem to think it is.
Load More Replies...The Marble Floor Of This Bank Has Been Worn Down From Years Of People Standing
If you see the central atrium of Congress, the floor is worn and uneven from people walking across it. It's rather remarkable!
Load More Replies...Marble is a porous, soft stone that's why it is widely used for carving and sculptures. I have seen this happening in busy places of worship especially where the stairs are made of marble.
If this is supposed to be real, then why are the spots the exact same size in the same location and only one spot in front of each teller? Shouldn't there be several spots in a row for people standing in line? And why does everyone stand exactly the same with their feet perfectly together? Don't get me wrong, I am not refuting that marble isn't porous but this seems way too symmetrical to be made by humans.
Exactly my thought about people standing in line.
Load More Replies...Nowadays, the indentations would go back about 20 feet in one line, since there's only one teller open🙄
Marble is a softer mineral, when compared to other types of rocks. You can actually scratch it with a butter knife, why it has been used for at lot of sculptures over time.

The Worn Marble Steps That Lead To The Top Of The Leaning Tower Of Pisa
I wonder if this proves that a majority of people is right-footed ? If such a concept exists at all ? The difference in wear is striking. Seems also to suggest that most people tend to hug the right wall for support or security.
Tower leans a lot, so your weight is not uniform when you climb
Load More Replies...If this is unbelievable, the steps have actually been flipped once because of this...
Those are the steps leading to the Gryffindor Girl's dorm. Boys went down bumpity bumpity bump. Godric Gryffindor was naughty like that.
I loved that about the San Francisco public library--the troughs worn into the stairs by the many feet climbing to the stacks.
And difficult to walk on, as well, since the worn areas are slippery.
wow, I cannot believe this, I thought it was impossible for marble to change shape like that.
I would love to walk bare footed up these steps to feel the smooth cool marble on my feet.
The steps wear out on the other side, on the other side of the tower. https://stevethings.wordpress.com/2013/07/02/inside-the-leaning-tower-of-pisa/

I call B******t on this one, too. No one builds a chimney flush against another building. It reduces the updraft too much. This is an outline put there for some reason. It's not the coincidental result of a building that used to be there.
I think it’s worth noting that apparently that house was built right over the lowest two windows of the ajacent buillding. They must have opened onto a brick wall while that house was there.

15 Years Wear Of Kids Turning A Handle At A Science Museum
How cute. I have been to these Science Museums and I have watched in fascination as children, including my own, and adults alike experience the thrill of turning simple handles to watch some amazing thing happen. Load More Replies...This Restaurant Knife After Being Routinely Sharpened For Years
How did it end up like that? Why did they keep sharpening it even after it had half worn away?
This has probably been used professionally in a business. and every cook has a favorite tool. Most likely the cook has grown accustomed to it and values it for its personality. I have a knife from my early days at Cracker Barrel, some forty years ago, and I favor it over all other knives. And it too is at least one third worn down due to sharpening. I love that knife. ;D
Load More Replies...As a proffessional knife sharpener, I've seen -too- many knives come across my work table with bldes like this. It's likely worn down like this because it's a poor quality knife and therefore has to be repeatedly sharpened to keep its edge. If this were a quality knife it would -steel- be no good. The metal at the back of the blade would be softer and therefore a knife worn to this point would be useless, no matter how good your sharpener is. I broght plenty of knives like this back from the brink, but I always warned customers that they would be better off spending a little money for a new knife because otherwise I was going to be seeing them again really soon.
How do I find a good knife sharpener that won't ruin my lovely Shun blades? I don't trust the trucks. I'm in NYC.
Load More Replies...These are almost always the best knives. I look for them at estate sales
You keep on using it. You have muscle memory for it's use, which changes gradually with the changes to the knife, it's comfortable using it. That will now be great as a fish filleting knife. I have a long slim carving knife that my grandmother had as a wedding present, 1930's I think. It's lost all the 'wave' to the blade and is probably half the width it once was.
I would think this is a filet knife, which is relatively thin to start with. Granted, this is a bit worn.

My Ipad 2 Smart Cover After 6 Years Of Rolling It Placing My Fingers In The Same Spot
That Ipad cover is disgusting I've had my cover for just as long and its been all over the world and seen the super dry desert mountains of Afghanistan/Nevada and snow mountains of Korea in -10 deg weather and it looks nothing like that neglect. People need to take of their stuff.
And while I think about it, that cover too has seen the largest desert in Europe, the Dolomites (6 times indeed) and also many Mediterranean beaches. And even if it has never traveled by plane it did all of that in a 40 year old VolksWagen so I think it is still good after all

This shows how cheaply things are made today with letters printed on whereas older keys were made of two different coloured plastics
And this was my second keyboard. I still use this one, but the old one had started to have keys that wouldn't work. I don't look at my fingers anyway, so I don't need the letters printed on them.

Many Years Of Use And This Bra Was No Longer White...
That started out a champagne colored bra. An old bra would look dirty and unevenly discolored.
Ummm, that's just a pic of two new bras. One's a white racerback, ones a beige standard-strap. Frankly, bras age so poorly that an actual genuine comparison would be way more entertaining!

This entry needs to be added next to #118, the image of the faded wood, half circle.
The problem is, saying #118 is liable to become inaccurate: the rankings shift as certain images get more up-votes. I wish their posting instructions made it clearer that you need to use ONE (split) image. Ideally, they could provide an applet that would make one from your two.
