Becoming a new mom has been life-changing. Having a little kid has been hard, tiring, gratifying, beautiful, challenging, scary, and a thousand other everyday problems that only a parent would ever understand.
It is these life-changing experiences that have inspired me to immortalize my everyday life as a stay at home mom in cartoon drawings. Whether it's the mundane tasks like doing laundry or the exciting moments of James', my baby boy's, first steps, I want to put it down on paper so that I can better cherish these fleeting moments that are often overlooked.
Being a stay at home mom can be incredibly lonely. I like to think that by drawing life's simple moments, I can connect with other mothers and help them feel less alone in raising kids. By doing these relatable comics, I feel less alone, too. It's a win-win situation and I have been able to connect with many lovely parents and fellow parent-illustrators through my cute drawings.

Newborns Are So Tiny Snuggled Up In Your Arms, Then One Year Later They Get So Long And Big. And Yet, They Still Manage To Fit Perfectly In Your Arms
Or when they are a bit bigger and sitting in your lap and slam head backwards and knock you 4 front teeth loose....
There is a point when a mother puts down her child and never picks them up again.
James Is My Constant Reminder To Stay Present. I Have A Bad Habit Of Getting Caught Up On My Phone, Wasting My Time Instead Of Doing Something Fulfilling. When I'm In My Haze, He Comes Up To Me With A Toy, Eagerly Calling Me To Play With Him
I need my readers when I'm on my phone. My grandson comes up, pulls my glasses off my face, folds the ear pieces ever so carefully and hands them to me. That's his way of saying "get off the phone, gram."
What Our Weekend Normally Looks Like (Just Kidding, James Can't Settle For Longer Than 5 Seconds When We're All Together In The Bed)
I Can't Be The Only "Bad" Parent That Doesn't Watch Age Appropriate Things With Their Kid. I Mean He's Only 18mo, He Can't Possibly Understand What That Dragon's Doing, Right!?
When my son was tiny and in the marathon nursing stage I would watch South Park episodes while nursing, to keep myself entertained. He's 16 now, and I'm pretty sure those South Park sessions were influential..... lol
I remember when I once watched a very violent episode of South Park and a small child of one of my relatives come to the same room with me. I did not want to turn the TV off so I let that child watch that episode. He just laughed at the cartoon violence like "Haha, his head fell off". Then I remembered all those really violent cartoons that I watched when I was a child - the violence was just funny. Now if I try to watch those animations as an adult I feel that those are too violent for the small children. :D
I use to watch horror movies with both my kids. And now there teenagers and one loves them the other is into rom com. No damage done. And yes they actually remember the movies but I raised them to know it's not real.
I used to watch Game of Thrones while looking after my daughter (who was 2 at the time). We would watch it and eat crisps and her mum never found out about either!!!
Our Last Visit To The Pediatrician Looked Something Like This. Actually All Our Visits To The Pediatrician Look Like This
I poke babies for a living... They in fact do crawl up parents as though they are cats escaping from a dog up a tree.
Well I'm not sure who is giving James the shot but our pediatrician ALWAYS made the nurses give my kids their shots with him no where near the room which worked out well until they learned how to understand English. Even then he was still a friend to them becus he never gave them the shots which was good when it came to trust.
To be honest, that's still what a lot of children look like when getting vaccinations.

Peacefully Sleeping With Baby When Suddenly... Bam. Rudely Awakened
I have no idea why, but I enjoy how her pants and the baby's shirt is colored.
My daughter used to kick me in the nuts pretty much every night. I still remember the pain....
When Your Toddler Is Having A Really Hard Time Sleeping Due To Teething, But You Don't Want To Undo Months Of Sleep Training
I am currently sitting on the floor of my 4 year olds room because she refuses to go to sleep unless I sit here. This is a nightly thing.
We always start him out in his crib at bedtime and he sleeps there for most of the night and then usually wakes up and we take him to our bed. It's worked like that for now. Hopefully he'll just be able to sleep through the night after he's done teething. I personally don't mind taking him to our bed because I miss him through the night. Haha.
Flying With A Toddler Is A Delicate Balance Of Skill, Patience And Well Planned Carry-Ons
I took my son to Italy to visit his Nonna , flying from Arizona when he was 3 1/2... Back before iPhones and iPads... I knew that he needed more than toys to distract him on the flights, so we bought a portable DVD player ( remember those?) the first leg of the trip was fine, but when he got super fidgety I started setting up his movie... and the flight attendant swooped in and confiscated it! You can imagine how delightfully refreshed I was after THAT flight! Lol
I once took a 3 year old and a 5 year old on a 12 hour flight to Guam. Scary right, but they were very well behaved no crying or fusing and the flight attendants rocked! They allowed me to take my boys into the bar area to play quietly after everyone else was sleeping, yep that means our flight left at 9 pm and no they both did not sleep the entire flight!
Every Night Before Bed I Hold Him Like This Just One Second Longer, Hugging Him Tightly And Taking Him In
These are my most favorite precious times with my son. Heart melting!
I Love Having A Tiny Human That I Can Dress Up In Ridiculous Costumes. James Was A Chicken Last Year
that would be torture for me if i was that child in that chicken suit.
Some babies like it. She wouldn't put him in it if he hated it, I assume.

James Has Some Pretty Good Dance Moves. Whenever Music Comes On, He Gets To Boogie'ing And We Follow Suit. Our Favourite Move Is The Elbow Jab
My daughter recently taught me how to 'dab' and 'floss'. I am officially cool.
There's a floss now too? I'm 20 and I've never heard of a floss except for when flossing your teeth.

Ever Have One Of Those Days That Just Suck For No Particular Reason? I Like To Draw The Cute And Sweet Moments Of Motherhood, But It Is Definitely Not Always Like That. Some Days Are Really Hard And You Find Yourself Breaking Down On The Living Room Floor After You Finally Get Baby To Go Down To Sleep
Having such a day today. Single mother to four girls (11, 6, 5 & 2)....today sucked so bad, i do hope tomorrow gets better :(

I Finally Cut James' Very Unruly Hair, And Somehow Managed To Keep His Ears Intact. Giving Him A Forbidden Item Definitely Helped Keep His Attention Elsewhere (In This Case The Remote Control)
Cutting nails is the worst. I always used to cut my daughters too short and it would then hurt her and then I would get shouted at by my wife and then feel like a c**p dad.....😞
The first time my eldest bled was from me cutting his nails. Still haven't gotten over it. He's now 24.
Load More Replies...lol When my mom gave my bro a hair cut, like age 10, she f*****g cut off the tip of his ear, it bled a lot, but we were mostly laughing at her for doing it, like, " jeez mom just go at him with a chainsaw next time" {it wasnt a huge cut just like the small nip at the top of the ear, he still has a notch there like a dog from it, but he didnt need stiches or anything, he didnt even know till we looked at him and saw blood running down his head, hes 25 now lol}
I did the same, my boy was 3 at the time. He's 25 this year, and I still feel horrible about it!

Cloth Diapers Bring On A Real, Serious Addiction. They're Supposed To Be "Economical" But As Soon As You Get One, You Need To Get Them All
As a former modern cloth nappy (diaper) mumma, I totally understand. They're so darn cute!
Loved our cloth diapers!!! Never had to run out to get anything, our daughter always knew when to let us know when she needed changing with signing(we taught her this even though she could hear perfectly). Never had a problem with rashes either!
My mom had a whole bin under her bed full of cloth diapers from when my siblings and I were babies! she loved them as well and was really sad to get rid of them!

It Only Took Him 2 Years, But James Finally Took His First Steps Alone
When my son started walking, then, my friend, came the hard part 😅
Lovely
Sometimes When James Is Being Pathetic And Crying For No Good Reason, We Will Mock Him By Mimicking Tarzan Cries
so i think this might actually be a cultural misunderstanding becuz ive seen this happen when translating from spanish to english. sometimes the words we think we r using correctly in english r actually not right at all and end up sending the wrong message. she might not be using pathetic in the way we use it in the english language, she's actually french and might be using it to signify being fussy and crying and thought the word pathetic fit the bill. for example as i mentioned about spanish you can ask someone not to bother you by saying "no me molestes" but in english molest means a wholllllle other thing than it does in spanish. i hope this is the case as all the artists other comics indict a kind and loving mommy!
That's exactly the case. The french word "pitoyable" can translate into pathetic. But is generaly used to mean irritating, annoying, exasperating, frustrating, etc.

Hon, that's your ex's loss. Your son will appreciate what you've done for him...now, early teen years may be obnoxious, but they grow out of that! And bless your heart for carrying on and doing the best for your baby! (Because we KNOW they're always our babies no matter how old they get...)
