23 Things That Are Slowly Phasing Out In 2022 And Are Probably Going To Completely Disappear Women’s’ rights

Yeah, I don’t understand why this is downvoted either… do people not think women’s rights are in jeopardy? I mean, if they don’t live in the US maybe nothing has changed in their world so this doesn’t impact them. Being American, Roe v Wade being overturned is terrifying to me.

They've been trying to overturn that every year since it happened, honestly. I got concerned when I started seeing Supreme Court Justices refer to witches in their rulings, watching people who harass women become president, supreme court justices, politicians, etc. It used to be if we caught this behavior there were impeachments and oustings. Now we get these guys like Matt Gaetz who was investigated for trafficking who wins his election by a landslide. Nathan Larson, who was running for congress in 2017 and was pro-incest, pedophilia, and rape, advocated legalization of child pornography, tying women up to do as men please, and a repeal of the 1994 Violence Against Women Act stating, "We need to switch to a system that classifies women as property, initially of their fathers and later of their husbands." And eventually was arrested for child porn but before he died who actually got votes in his district. The people voting for him are still out there. And I feel like it's just getting worse, not better.

Not if me and mine have anything to do with it. Women worked hard for those rights. It was barely a century ago they got the right to vote in the USA. Women have had the right to vote for less than HALF the age of the country. Think about that.

It's because they didn't want to do public service or register for draft. If women were good with the responsibilities that came with voting, they would have had the right to vote when the constitution was drafted...

Everyone's rights need more protection. Men dont realize that women's rights affect them too. Time to stop ignoring it depending what country you are in.

They don't realize because they're not thinking. And *sigh* yes, that lovely statement of "not all" men were like this, no gd s**t they aren't. Not the point. Enough of them are literally seeing an inch from their face they're not seeing the wild nailed brick spiraling towards their faces at 90mh. That's the problem here. Too many people in power and influence have zero foresight.

the more we stand together and support each other, instead of going against each other, the more the world changes for us. Not just in U.S. or UK, but everywhere. Sex trafficking, slave labor, child marriage, medical neglect, sexual / physical / emotional / mental abuses. We are extremely strong in numbers. It's what has to happen. Individuals are not heard. But the many are felt deep in the center of social change.

I agree with you, we have the numbers to make the change we want. The problem is, "the powers that be" have the technology and know how to dupe the masses into both demanding and paying for their own demise. If anyone disagrees, just look at the way they forced a vaccine on 8 billion people, with WAY MORE THAN HALF of those people demanding a jab that was never fully tested. We have the numbers, but they know far more about manipulation than the average lay person. To change things from the top down, we must start at the bottom. Look at the number of women demanding the right to terminate the life of the unborn. They have been duped by a catch phrase "My body, my choice". What about the fetus??? "Their body, my choice"??? Loss of critical thinking, by design.

In the UK there are gangs of thugs that regularly hijack Feminist meetings and rallies. Usually, the police just stand around and allow the intimidation to happen. As a man and human being I am appalled by this. As a society we should not tolerate this kind of behaviour.

Sounds like our police. Oh lol no I stand corrected. If that happened they'd just attack the wrong side a d blame them for everything that happened. And to be clear, pigs and police are two different breeds. I speak of course of our oinkers. The useless stupid racist ones.

The government needs to intervene here. Inflation is 8.7%, yet stores have jacked up prices 100% and more. Eggs that were 99 cents a dozen a year or two ago are now $4.19.

They act like we're all too stupid to notice things have gotten smaller and more expensive. I'm sorry, but I've *never* had to spend 75$ on a month of meat to feed my family. I could just feed them questionable animal parts I guess, hot dogs are still 2$ a package if I buy the brand that might have bone chips in it... Ramen guys. RAMEN is getting expensive. Ramen. I know other countries have it really bad, but I'm not in other countries, I'm in this one. I feel for them, truly I do. It can't be easy living in dirt, scraps or possibly nothing. But that's not going to magically put money in my wallet to afford all these jacked up prices. I need to feed my family. If I had any excess id feed other people too. I used to, but God forbid I try to buy a cabbage anymore. You know here we're not allowed to have our own gardens or collect rainwater? It's not like I can skate by on my own soil and hands.

We need revolution. A real revolution and a radical transformation of the political and socioeconomic modes of production. It's literally the only way we can survive. It's a far less scarier notion in consideration of the alternative.

    Liam Lowenthal
    Community Member
3 years ago Created by potrace 1.15, written by Peter Selinger 2001-2017

When you say that, then you create the issue of who gets to say what political and socioeconomic atmosphere is appropriate. Then you put it up to a vote with one side living in the BC era having never read their stupid religious books in the first place but they sure as hell hate everything anyway, and you have a pack of very quiet and a very upset people who don't get anywhere because they're trying to not upset anyone. And everyone in-between. Then you have all these radical types plus non radicals screaming bloody murder at each other because one person got their way and ignored everyone anyway. It's very hard to upturn a stationary hierarchy. Usually when people do, it's through war, subterfuge or revolution. And then we're back where we started. I'm not saying you're wrong, because you're not. We need a better way, painfully so, void of religion, greed and non scientific opinion. But.. it's so unlikely, I figure the world will just burn and die first. :T I hate it.

We've done this to ourselves. We constantly have to be in touch with one another. Social media, things like Tic Tok, Instagram, even innocent Facebook, etc. We've got to let all our friends know where we are, what we're doing and what we're eating. When we're on the move people know about it. Google knows every time we step foot out of our house, drive our car, walk into a store. Because we've allowed it. We allow our lives to be an open book. So every time we walk down the street, a camera can pick us up. Facial recognition software can match our images with our names. Any one remember 1984? Big Brother IS watching, and we've let it happen. All because we wanted that better, newer piece of technology. I guess one good thing came out if this-- if you live your life just assuming you're always on camera, you won't do anything to embarrass yourself. LOL.

I hate how boomers verbally attack millennials and other younger generations for this. "When I was 21, I owned my own car and home!" they say, but they don't know how messed up the economy is. Inflation is progressing faster than our wages and a recession has been predicted next year. Like, we pay more in rent than their mortgage payments, our bosses are greedier and give us less pay than we deserve, people are running around with devices that scan money off your cards... Humanity is crumbling. As the old saying goes: "Earth has enough to satisfy every man's need, not every man's greed."

Unfortunately there's a lot to thank for that. But government programs like section 8 are a huge driver of sky high rents. It's unfortunate those programs are so heavily abused because it hurts everyone. If a landlord accept section 8 he is going to try and levy the max rent the government will pay especially because of the headache that comes with it. People that use section 8 don't care because they're not paying for it. This in turn causes all the landlords that don't accept section 8 to raise the prices in the neighborhood. Because why not right? Market value and all

23 Things That Are Slowly Phasing Out In 2022 And Are Probably Going To Completely Disappear Social acceptance for cigarette smoking in public. Like the old-fashioned light-them-on-fire tobacco smokes. I go all over for work, and it’s a noticeable event if someone smells like smoke. No buildings seem to have smoking areas anymore, even the butt cans are rare sightings. Can you even imagine someone lighting up *inside a restaurant*? People still do it, but they almost have to hide it, only smoking at home or in their cars or vaping while out and about. When you come out of a store and you smell cigarette smoke, it’s noticeable because it’s not always there. The difference from 10 years ago is huge. 20 years ago this would be unimaginable.

I'm a smoker and I hate smoking around entrances. I have had to do it at certain jobs (gas stations) because I worked overnight and had to remain visible to the cameras for "my safety" but even then I stood where the smoke would blow away from the entrance. Now I don't smoke within 50 feet of an entrance. Sigh, I will actually walk further off if I see children or elderly getting out of a car or walking near me. I don't even smoke near my kids outside, they have to be inside the car or house while we smoke outside. I don't think it's right to force someone to inhale/smell my smoking unless they are seeking it out. It's not that hard for me to walk a bit extra to make sure my smoke isn't affecting someone.

If I'm smoking while out and about, which doesn't happen often, I go and find a nice secluded spot where I won't pollute anyone. Mostly I wait until I get home but if I start to panic I find it helps.

Smoking used to be permitted on aeroplanes-the back few rows were designated smoking rows. Obviously the smoke stench didn't confine itself to the back few rows though. My parents both smoked heavily, as did the majority of people in the 70s. We must all have absolutely stunk all the time. These days, the smell of it turns my stomach. Kissing a smoker-yuck.

Actually, I have had a great time on Facebook joining interest groups like Bonsais, woodworking, landscaping, stone carving, etc. I have asked and answered questions, very collaborative. My experience has been great on Facebook. I can't think of an alternative to this, books can't cover everything.

I joined a little over a year ago to connect with some people that I met on another site. Between those few and a handful of groups I get to enjoy the little time that I spend there. I can imagine it becoming a hassle if someone follows a lot of politics, celebrities, and stuff like that.

I got rid of any social media where it's harder to be anonymous, I only use Reddit, BP and Buzzfeed and have different usernames for each, it has done my mental health so much good. I also now know who my real friends are, I'm down to 3 and I'm ok with that.

well that really depends on how you use it. I never share anything personal. But I use it as means of communication with everyone be it my high school classmates, my university classmates, my international friends I met while traveling or people from my previous work. I also use it for specialized groups (like fans of board games, people who like gardening or my local city group). I cannot see how it can be replaced.

When melbourne went into lockdown in 2020, someone complained that they'd have to sell some of their 22 Air Bnbs. Twenty two. It's far far away from a spare room or granny flat these days.

Tried it once-it worked out far more expensive than a hotel. And all the 'it's the experience you're paying for, meeting new people, feeling of 'belonging' and surrounding yourself in a new culture, immersing yourself in a new environment" nonsense is utterly c**p. My "host" confined me to the tiniest space, despite access to kitchen, living room and utility room being advertised. After that I went back to hotels and B&Bs, much more comfortable and welcoming.

I have loved every airbnb I have stayed in, EXCEPT my most recent. It seems as though a lot of people gave it a shot during covid as "easy money" without wanting to actually do the work, and it's sad to see that my conveniently cheaper and homier days of travel are probably over because of their greed.

I don’t think we hear about good experiences, only bad ones. The only one we stayed in was nice enough. We weren’t asked to do anything but respect the neighbours, though we left it tidy & put out the rubbish, we leave hotel rooms tidy and make sure rubbish is in the bin anyway. It was an 4 bed ex-council semi in my husband’s home town; usually we’d stay in a hotel and share a room with our disabled son but our daughter was coming too and was adamant she wasn’t sharing. It worked out cheaper than 2 hotel rooms and we got a bedroom to ourselves for a change!

There will always be a market for both short term rentals and hotels. Usually I prefer staying in a house with friends, cooking meals, grilling outdoors, etc. Other people want to roll out of bed and hit the hotel buffet. There are good and bad hotels and Airbnbs.

Look at all the different types of short media we have now, Facebook reels YouTube shorts, Instagram shorts, whatever else is out there including f*****g TikTok. I hate all of these. It's basically taking the whole idea of making content into the shortest form video. No one wants to watch 10 to 20 minute videos. You make an hour-long video you'll be lucky if you get 20 views. That's if you're not famous for it if you're famous you might see about 100,000 views.

23 Things That Are Slowly Phasing Out In 2022 And Are Probably Going To Completely Disappear Leisure time. Unless you're wealthy it's shocking to have any time off. Monday I had my first sick day in over a year and I was told I still need to make up my hours even if it means working overtime. Even when you aren't working, shifts are so long it feels like you're losing your whole day and your days off are the only chance you have to catch up on cleaning and doctor's appointments and maintaining your life that it's hard to find the time to do any leisure activities. Just watching TV or making a meal feels like such a time investment because there's so little time to waste.

Welcome to the USA. Other parts of the world have paid sick time and normal vacatinon time. Most of what happens in the US in respect to labor law would be plainly illegal in Europe.

You're clearly a non skilled entry level worker. Maybe a kid fresh out of school or a Foreigner? First of all I've never worked at a place over the age of 18 where I didn't have paid sick time or vacation. Every company offers it to retain talent. Otherwise skilled people(not people like you)would simply go somewhere else to work. Secondly the US is like the EU as in you need to think of states as countries. There are many States that have these laws your referring to. My advice to you is stop being lazy and get a real job. There are tons of jobs right now in manufacturing or the trades that offer good wages and great benefits with no experience needed. Of course you usually need to pass a drug test and physical if that's not too hard for you

The more I hear about employment in USA, the happier I am about being a British citizen. We have strong employment laws, and the right to take sick leave is enshrined in law. You can self certify for the first few days of illness, and after 7 days, you need a doctors certificate. Plus we get far more paid annual leave-obviously it varies with different jobs, and there are laws about how many hours you can work without taking a break, so you can't be forced to work massively long shifts.

    DAN13LG

You're not being told the truth buddy. The US has these laws to some states have stronger laws than others. Just like you said it depends on the job. But the general standard here is 40 hours a week if your full-time. Overtime is only mandatory if you sign a form when hired which depending on the industry is common. You are required by law to receive a half hour unpaid lunch break if you work 5 hours or more. The standard by most manufacturing companies is 2-15 minute breaks and a 30 minute lunch for an 8 hour shift paid sometimes the lunch isn't. You get 2 weeks paid vacation your first year, 3 weeks after 4 or 5 years and more weeks depending on the years with the company. Some companies also give 40 hours sick time some let you use your vacation as stuck time. While you might not get paid you will not be penalized if you have a doctor's note. Every company offers medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short and long term disability and retirement plans.

I still buy DVDs/BluRays. I like actually owning the thing and being able to reliably access it for the next 20-50 years. Only series and movies I've rewatched at least once and want to watch again though.

I like to have a DVD waiting reliably on my shelf. With streaming services, you never know when they are going to delete the film you want to see, or make you buy the download, etc. Amazon Prime Video is the worst.

New cars don't come with a CD player at all. Mine has a USB port. The problem is that I listen to audio books and the overly helpful player tries to organize the books into artists / albums / songs. I have to rip the CDs and put them on a stick one CD at a time and hope they play in order. It would be nice if they still offered a CD option.

I can't buy songs from Amazon anymore. To download them, Amazon requires full access to all files on your device. Scine I have secure files that Amazon can't access, it won't download. Nobody at Amazon will answer why they need access to accounting, payroll, my medical files, etc.

You should have a job that pays you enough for surviving and school lunches should be free for every child. And nana can give a card and send money digitally. This is how it works in Sweden. Things changes to the better.

In one hand, cash is very important. Homeless people can find it, ask for it and earn it to be able to feed themselves, because a bank wouldn't let a homeless person just waltz on in and set up an account. It's also great for things that are more under-the-table, like doing little jobs without the government wanting your hard earned money, since the government can't tax cash. It's anonymous money and what you do with it is up to you and nobody can invade your privacy on what you spend it on. In the other hand, however, it's easier to steal and you can't trace it. It's also awkward trying to put your change back into your wallet because you're holding up the line. You can also get your digital money back from your bank if it was stolen. So, I think cash AND digital money should stay to make life easier for everyone.

23 Things That Are Slowly Phasing Out In 2022 And Are Probably Going To Completely Disappear Honestly? Cheap and neat finds at antique/thrift stores. Most places upcharge outrageous amounts for the items they get in, especially if it's a legitimate antique or unique item. On top of that, a lot of what's being sold now are nicknacks and decorative items that were made cheap at the time, and no one wants anymore. I think we're also phasing out of the cheap product phase for everything, or at least slowing down. More and more people are choosing to repurpose their items or try and fix them, rather than just tossing and buying something new. Repurposing is even easier than ever thanks to the internet, it's no longer a struggle to figure out how to fix s**t and to buy missing parts and tools that you'd need to get the job done.

The charity shop in my nearest city used to be really good but in the past 4 years the prices have skyrocketed. Used shirt that was identical to one I already had that cost me $6 to buy new a year ago and the store wanted $17 for it! My adult daughter was there a few weeks ago looking for cheap winter clothes for her 3. Most stuff was more expensive than buying the item new. Some items said brand new, so still available in the stores, but the price was $4 higher than going to the store next door to buy it retail.

Op shops were once upon a time brilliance personified. Then the corporates took over and sodomised everyone. In five years there will be very little vintage, as in well made clothes left, no well made clothes are being made now or not purchased by the masses. Whats next down the line. What?

Unfortunately, due to the general state of shittiness that makes up the global economy, as people focus on less disposable things there will be one of two results. 1) Products will be made so poorly that they'll be unfixable - planned obsolescence, or 2) Everything will be so proprietary they will become impossible to fix - more computers, subscriptions, specialized tool sets. The population will never again be able to focus on self sufficiency. BUT there will be an app for it with a 6 month free trial!

Goodwill used to have a 50 cent color (or was it 25) and a half price color all week. Now they just have the half color and the prices are insane. However, I discovered that the one by my sister still has the old system and low prices so I go once a month. I remember some elderly folks used to line up at the door for the color change on Sundays at the one by me. That no longer happens.

That started when "vintage" everything became popular. Second hand shops just started calling everything even a few years old vintage and jacking up rates. Then macklamore's song came out and every one and their grandma started hitting up thrift stores. The few that kept cheap prices would get wiped out of stock regularly. The only ones left seem to be run by homeless shelters.

Blame more than 10 years of horrendous interest rates on them. Back in 2006 I could get a tax free savings account in the UK with 6% interest. Since 2008 my account has had 0.1% on it. Not even beating inflation. I still save up for things, but it might as well be under a mattress

For the fact that workplace harassment is easier to conduct in an office than at home, working remotely is great. You also save on fuel and public transport fares, you don't need to be scared about the unpredictability of road accidents happening and either taking your life or making you late, you don't need to worry about perverts or people stealing your belongings, nobody will steal your lunch, you don't have to deal with workplace drama, you're in a better environment, you can work at your own pace and everything you need is at home. Those are just SOME of the benefits of working from home!

When one of the shops in my area suddenly extended their working hours to 24/7, everyone was confused. It turned out later, that it was the owner's idea of dealing with a rat problem: keep the lights on + people in = rats out

I work overnights so all my shopping was done after work pre COVID . Now I get off a whole hour before they even open. I have a kid to get home to do I don’t even have the time to hang out and wait for them to open. I live in the middle of nowhere so i don’t often get a chance (or even hand the desire) to make a separate trip into town

This bothers me. Most 3rd shift workers are essential workers. Nurses, doctors, suicide counselors, most importantly the people at Amazon that get you your stuff in 2 days. All these people should be able to shop when it makes sense for them.

I miss shopping at 2 and 3:00 a.m. in the morning but I guess it's sort of a good thing too. Keeps the crazies out. When I was an Uber driver, I would go into Walmart at 3:00 a.m. and just walk around and grab a drink. It was just nice to be quiet in there for a minute and nobody was around except for the workers or maybe one or two people that were getting diapers.

23 Things That Are Slowly Phasing Out In 2022 And Are Probably Going To Completely Disappear I think the straw has broken the camel's back on laughtrack sitcoms; How I Met your Father is the first one ive seen in years to use one and its... not good Its jarring to see So id say those are finally phasing out, with the norm being laughteack free funnies (which have existed for years now ofc, but are becoming the standard)

Yup, Sitcoms are fading in general. Or are already completely gone. At least good ones. Maybe because you can't have dark-humored, sarcastic content anymore. Imagine "Married with Children" going on air nowadays. My favorite Sitcom...

I remember "Everyone Loves Raymond" specifically ruining sitcoms for me. I suddenly realized that NONE of the jokes were funny and the laughtrack was almost on a timer or something. A laughtrack every 20-25 seconds. A character could say "Your car keys are on the table" and... "laughtrack". "I did laundry yesterday"... laughtrack.

I can't wait! Imagine just saying "Hey, have you seen the charger around here?" And instead of asking for which type, it's all the same one, so they can just tell you where the nearest one is! It's also awful when someone says "Oh, sorry, I only have a micro USB type and you need a C type. Sorry!"

How are we supposed to charge our phones then? This assumes that everyone is getting the newest model of phone or phone case that charges your phone while it's in the case. Those are probably expensive. I have an iPhone 7 and don't want to upgrade. I already don't like that it doesn't have a headphone jack and I had to buy a dongle to be able to use my headphones (I don't have AirPods, nor do I want them) and a dongle to be able to charge my phone in the car while also listening to music with headphones. What about those of us on a limited budget with limited earning capabilities?

The law is about new phone sales. Eventually that iPhone 7 will stop working. Your next phone will have a different charger port. And the good news is it will require a standard plug type.

This is a good thing. USB Cable: I cost $5 Lightning Cable: I cost $50 USB Cable: Um... WHY? Lightning Cable: Branding and a locked in trapped market due to being proprietary. USB Cable: I dunno man. Seems kind of predatory. Lightning Cable: PROFITS BABY! But don't worry, our customers are used to it.

Well, I prefer manned registers. Some problems can only be fixed by a human. An amazing example is self serve checkouts, since those things are so sensitive and even the smallest problem is such a big deal to those machines.

Exactly! Seems pretty evenly half the time the self checkout doesn't work right and I have to get assistance from a cashier anyways. So why not just let the cashier ring it up in the first place since they probably will have to anyways, and skip having to stand there waiting for them to come help?

I like it from a customer's perspective. And mostly in my country the big chains offer both options. But whenever I buy some beer or wine, then it's useless, since I got to call the staff for clearance. Talking about jobs though, it's not a good trend.

Big chains offer both choices here as well: 15 self checkout with only 1 of fifteen manned cashier open. Lately it takes 2 hours to get through the line if you don't want to self checkout. With 2 weeks of groceries, who does?

How much time did you spend reading the menu? 5 mins? 10 mins? If you have all the day even 15 mins, but then you give back the physical menu and the dinner is the dinner, if even once decided what to order your group will stay on the phone... It seems like a very bad group to spend time with😅😅

This bothers me because I can't afford data on my phone and would not assume that they would let me use their WiFi. How am I supposed to know what kind of food you have? Unless it's online on the restaurant's website. What does this mean for people with allergies?

    Lee Kerr

3 years ago (edited) Created by potrace 1.15, written by Peter Selinger 2001-2017

There’s usually a qr code which takes you to the menu or you have to download an app. They alway have allergy info in the U.K. because it’s a legal requirement, I assume it’s similar for other countries. Unfortunately, quite often the wifi doesn’t work and there’s no signal inside so you can’t get online anyway. Even if it works, if you’re ordering as a family, you end up passing the one phone which has managed to get online around so it takes longer to order, the menu is badly arranged so it’s hard to find everything and the small screen is a real problem. It’s an annoying and frustrating experience all round and that is from someone who loves her tech stuff!
