I visited Stanton Moor in England this week. The area is quite popular, as there are a few ancient stone circle sites there dating to the Bronze Age.

While at the moor, I climbed the Cork Stone. This stone is quite popular as it is like a beacon for the land. It is only around 15 feet high, but falling from that height would cause some broken bones.

The Cork Stone has been standing on the moor for a long time, as it is a natural stone monolith. There is even some graffiti on the back of the stone from the 1800s.

In the early 19th century, metal handles were added to the front of the stone so people could climb up to the top and admire the view of the land.
