I confess I wore a white dress to my sisters wedding 25 years ago. I was 22yo & her Bridesmaid. I honestly did not know only the bride is supposed to wear white... I rarely wear dresses & this one happened to look nice so I bought it without a second thought. NOBODY said anything, ever. It only came up years later when I read about what a huge faux pax it is. I was mortified & called my sister to apologise but she said she didn't know about the white dress thing either! Now, everytime I see the photos I think, why didn't someone tell me? 🙄😅

Unless you showed the dress to someone first, while at the wedding, it's a bit too late 😳 If I saw the bridesmaids wearing white though, I'd figure the bride was okay with it or had arranged it. If the bride is fine with it, you're all good 🙂

This actually more common than people think. It's passive aggressive behavior and the MIL is making everything about "her" instead of the bride and groom. It's mortifying when it occurs because usually it's the kind of like a "mommy dearest" situation and it seriously makes the MIL appear mentally unstable 😐

It is unbelievable that it has become such a thing for either the MOG or a stepmother to wear not just white, but a full-on wedding gown to their kid's wedding. It's not the "take that" you think it is, you tacky cows. Everyone is laughing at how insecure and pathetic you are.

And judging their level of love from one photo, which doesn't crrespond to your outdated idea that every wedding should look exactly the same. Yeah, I'd rather be a guest at their wedding than whoever posted that.

People who live in trailer Parks do not deserve your scorn. You are stereotyping And demeaning them. I know many fine people who live in manufactured homes and they do so for many reasons, chief among those reasons being that it's the only housing they can afford. So you are equating poverty with rude classless stupid behavior. Is that what you intended?

Yep. These are the kinds of weddings my family has: she cares, he can't be bothered. She wears a nice dress, begs him to put on a suit, he promises he'll "take care of" planning the honeymoon. Comes the wedding day, and he shows up in a tux t-shirt thinking it's the pinnacle of comedy, and gosh, "forgot" to do all the honeymoon thing, but they'll just go stay at the local Motel 8, that's fine. And she'll make excuses and capitulate because she doesn't want to upset him. It then continues with their marriage and children. Just aim a little bit higher, everyone, maybe?

I've mentioned this to my trashy Conservative family multiple times. Cousin Brianna is on her third husband with five kids, having a Coca-Cola themed wedding in the backyard, where she gives her new hubby a lap dance to "WAP" and then they smash cake all over each other, but that's totally "sanctity of marriage" compared to... a same-sex couple? No way.

Go granny. I had a great aunt, that at 83 was dating a guy in his forties. Would regularly go out clubbing and generally had a great time until the day she died. No, she wasn't a sugar momma, we are not a wealthy family, and she worked as a secretary for a priest at a small Catholic church. She was just knew how to have fun

The fact of the matter is that it’s far from just brides and grooms who cause drama and create situations that everyone will be gossiping about for years and years to come. There are some truly peculiar people out there who end up being invited to celebrations of love, only to try and ruin them. Some folks simply take pleasure in causing chaos wherever they go. Weddings are no exception.

The hay will be hollow and with toilette on top. Great idea if someone wants their wedding to smell of something more than just a pee.

I know a lot of you are disgusted, but these work really well in practice. You need straw rather than hay for best results as straw is hollow and wicks the moisture into the middle. Depending on when you are, it's cheaper and more eco friendly than chemical portoloos, and they stink way less. I've used them on eco festivals before. They save a lot of water compared with flushing toilets so also good for drought stressed areas. For people wondering about solid waste, the option is a more enclosed compost loo with sawdust, or a flushing toilet in the farmhouse.

This may be one of those things were it's easy to jump to judgment but the idea actually makes sense. Instead of a chemical porta-potty, which is full of, ya know, chemicals, everything here breaks down organically. I mean, livestock probably wouldn't eat it, but it'd probably make a great soil amendment or mulch. And since it's at a wedding where alcohol will flow, it probably won't have a strong urine smell, either. It's easy to think this is a hillbilly solution at a wedding between first cousins, but maybe it's actually smarter and more environmentally friendly.

Anna and Sarah, team leaders at The Wedding Society spoke to Bored Panda about unruly and rude guests, and how to manage them. In short, it’s important to let go of the idea that weddings can be ‘perfect’: some things will go wrong no matter what. So it’s vital to be able to adapt and not take any minor flaws in the plan personally.

Here in italy it's become pretty common to give money to the spouses, instead of presents. In the past people used to give presents for their new house (pots and pans, crockery, etc) because the norm was that, up to your wedding, you were living with your parents so you needed everything for your new house. And the unwritten rule was: the value of the present needs to be the same amount of money the spouses had probably spent for inviting you to the wedding. So if you're going by yourself it's a smaller amount, if you're a family of four, it's more. Anyway...Nowadays people have been living with their partners for years before they get married so they apparently don't need cutlery and such so they ask to fund their honeymoon trip or they straight ask for cash. Very tacky, in my opinion. If you need cash so desperately then you should skip the traditional big ceremony, get married privately and maybe have a small celebratory dinner with your closest friends and family.

Are you too young to have not seen the movie "The godfather"? It was at least 50 years ago. It was set in the 1950's - 70's and the bride got thousands of dollars! It's s very old tradition giving money to couples!

Shame them for a kink or laugh at them even if it was just a joke? Either way seems sad. I respect safe, sane and consensual sex. ;) Life is short. No reason to snub what you don't get.

If it's an invite to a kinky ceremony, then sure. If it's a boomer "I'm getting married therefore my life as I know it is over" joke, then no. Thing is, we can't say from just one picture, so I agree with you - too little context to shame it.

I don't read it as a kink, I took it to mean that the woman is in charge, that she's basically forcing the guy to get married. Not that that's any better!

If it is a kink thing, I have no problem with it as long as the guests know what they’re in for. If it’s just another version of “marriage is a trap for the man”, then *barf*.

I have a great example of a wedding gone wrong, or reception at least. My cousin & his bride to be didn't drink alcohol, so they specifically hosted a "dry wedding" meaning that no alcohol was allowed or to be served to guests. During the reception following the ceremony of their marriage, wedding guests (several, including immediate family!) chose to sneak out of the venue and drink their BYOB (bring your own booze) which was definitely not welcome out in the parking lot of the reception hall. I watched in awe & disapproval as my cousin's own brother & his wife along with many others knocked back the alcoholic beverages one right after another before returning inside of the establishment. So disrespectful! If you want to drink, and it's that important to you, drink before or after the wedding! Don't bring alcohol around people who asked that it not be present, especially when it's their special day! So rude, distasteful & utterly tacky.

“Simply saying, ‘The venue has rules’ or, ‘Our caterers have agreed to only..’" is an easy way to take the blame off yourself but still enforce hard rules,” the wedding expert shared how couples can shut down some bad behavior among guests. It’s a way to misdirect some of the havoc-wreakers’ negative emotions elsewhere.

Finally, while again foot fetishes are fine, being unsanitary about them is not. Do you have ANY idea what a person's feet go through during their own wedding...? Now I feel embarrassed because we hired a pianist and didn’t ask about that. We did meet him at a wedding event at the place we got married though and booked him there and then so we presumed it was either his piano that he brings or it was the venue’s that would still be there on our wedding day. I’m not sure which happened but he was definitely playing a piano during our wedding breakfast!

Kinda surprised that wasn't explicitly spelled out in the contract. And if it was (venue provides the piano, not the vendor), Vendor can sue for breach of contract.

According to the experts, they stressed that they would be “utilizing the professionals” around them for help if they were ever in a situation where disaster’s looming either during the ceremony or the reception afterward.

I was really surprised when my friend basically insisted that I bring my dog to his wedding. I'm not the kind of "pet parent" that assumes I can bring a dog to a wedding. Fortunately my dog was super well behaved and only did one "disobedient" thing which was adorable: there was a problem with the wedding cues and it looked like for about 5 minutes my friend may have been left at the alter, my dog, sensing my friend's anxiety, ran up to comfort him. There was a chorus of "aw" and the tension was broken.

I am not understanding this one. 😕 its kinda disturbing to see half of a baby mannequin with bedazzled jeans and a random flower stuck where the upper body is missing? Super weird theme. The disposable water bottles add to a trailer trash touch to it.

For my wedding, we saved wine bottles from our engagement trip. I used my glass cutters to cut the tops off and turned them into narrow flower vases. My wife has a lot of knowledge around flowers, and made each one into a custom flower arrangement, with native flowers from the places special to us. One of those at each table at the reception. It was simple, but i thought they looked great. Her flowers were spectacular. We didn't have a huge wedding, only five tables, five bottles of wine. You get it.

It's actually very pretty and out of the ordinary. Besides that, brides don't typically throw their actual bouquet that they used during the ceremony, they usually have a special one to throw. My daughters did.

For all those hating on vegans. The couple clearly informed the caterers to accommodate their friends. Any "caterer"that is incapable of accommodating dietry requirements (ethical, religious medical) at a private event is not a caterer..

Were you the caterer dude? Jeez. The couple clearly informed the caterers that the guest was vegan - that caterer then chose to provide a tomato at a dinner for, what, £50 a head? Thank Christ the guest wasn't Jewish or Muslim - probably would have served pulled pork....

If you have food preferences or allergies it best to bring your own food to events. It is not up to the host to accommodate you. Just my opinion.

Being the host and inviting people means they can expect to be fed. That's the whole point of being the host. If you don't want to care for your guests, then don't invite them or at least tell them to bring their own food. Everything else is bad form.

That's BS. We managed it for our friends. We told the caterer that our friends were vegan, and the caterer said "no problem, you're paying us £50 a head for an 80 cover dinner, if we can't provide 2 vegan meals we have no right to call ourselves caterers"

The piece is unbalanced, heavy and cluttered in half the area and sparce in the other half. The jewels and decor look like good quality items though and are really pretty, if the creator could utilize them in a better design. It's a great concept and has tons of potential. Maybe if they tried a few layouts before they applied them, they'd be much more successful in their arrangement and could possibly use less items per unit as well.

I didn't know you could bale hail. But why would ice balls formed by severe weather make your a*s itch? How did they know it was going to happen so as to be able to plan the baling of said hail for the wedding? Why would they want to get married in that weather? Who would even come? Did they reach out to people on SM to ask for collections of hail they then stored in their freezer in anticipation of the big day? Is there a very niche company that provides this service? Which isle did this take place on, and how did they get a horse there? So many question.

Those both sound like good examples to spin for a wedding decor idea on a lower budget. I really like the way you're thinking about the situation.

If the whole wedding was denim themed it may have fit in. Nit my taste but to each their own. Points for handmade denim flowers at least, I'm sure love went into making them.

Maybe they weren't supposed to get dressed up. I'm fairly confident that the guests were told what the theme and layout of the wedding was going to be ahead of time.

That's assuming they have either as attendees. If all their guests are the same age as the couple, plus their parents (who could be anywhere between 40 & 60 and still manage to get up from a picnic blanket) this shouldn't be a problem.

I think lots of these are not wedding shaming but budged shaming. I think it's great when people rather use DIY and accept a bit of tackiness and imperfections than wasting thousands on stuff they will only use once. I wonder how many of those wedding shamers are wedding planners who feel salty that they miss out on commission when people go for good enough instead of all out
