Let's all take a moment of reverent silence for the true heroes of our society: teachers. These magnificent, caffeine-powered saints spend their days in a glitter-dusted, high-decibel warzone, wrangling a small army of children who are vibrating with the chaotic energy of the impending holiday break. And our traditional method of thanks? Another mug. A sad, lonely "#1 Teacher" mug destined to join its fallen brethren in the back of the cabinet, a ceramic graveyard of good intentions.

This year, we're staging an intervention. We are officially breaking the cycle of sad, apple-themed gifts. We've curated a list of things they actually want, gifts that truly say, "Thank you for everything you do and for not calling me every single time my kid eats a crayon."

If you want to feel like a librarian but for free/without paper, a friend recommended me the app Libib. It lets you organize your catalogue of books by scanning their barcodes or entering them manually, you can make different collections, rate them and add comments. It makes me so gleeful -and it's also nice for me to keep track of what i've read this year, and for my family and friends to see my reviews on books they're hesitant about, + they know if I already have a book they were interested in gifting me. But the "hehehe my own library" factor is the best.

As a teacher who gets gifts every year - please stop telling people not to give me mugs. I'm a grown-up. I know how to say thank you or make a polite request to not receive any more mugs. WILD that you made people feel bad for something and then put it on your list.

I don't think all schools would allow this. I know Mum's school doesn't even allow the staff to take mugs without lids (like keep-cups etc) out of the staff room because of the risk it could pose to students.
