If you've never heard of Tank Sinatra, the creator behind the Instagram powerhouse “Tank's Good News,” chances are you've been living on the Moon. Tank, whose real name is George Resch, is a prolific content creator who gained millions of followers on Instagram through meme creation and reposting hilarious content. "Tank's Good News" is one of Resch's projects where he only focuses on re-sharing positive, uplifting media to the general public. It turns out that Resch's own personal story helped serve as a kind of inspiration for the account.

Let’s All Tell Her Congratulations
Resch told Elite Daily that he struggled with sobriety more than a decade ago, before getting completely sober at the age of twenty-two. Now being thirty-eight, Resch recalls: "I would be frustrated that I wasn't positive, but I wasn't looking for anything to be positive [about], so it was a vicious downward cycle where I was unhappy and I looked for things to justify my unhappiness. When I got sober, I thought doing that would kill me. So, I felt like I needed to be positive to survive."
In 2017, Resch created Tank's Good News, the hugely successful project that stems from his frustration with the negativity of current news. “CNN, Fox... they've made a business out of creating a visceral reaction out of people but that reaction is fear, anxiety and negativity," he explained. He didn’t know there was a market for good news, yet said he knew “if I could make people feel good, they would come back."

The huge popularity of Tank's Good News reflects not only its creator's but our shared fatigue with what’s happening on the screens and media. The worst scenarios are bombarding us every day and it’s only fair we get fed up with it. To find out more about it, what this negative exposure does to our mental wellbeing and how can we be more resilient to it, we spoke with Dr. Lise Deguire, a clinical psychologist and author of award-winning memoir “Flashback Girl: Lessons on Resilience From a Burn Survivor.”
Dr. Lise said that indeed many people report that their mood is negatively affected by the news. “Of course, the news itself tends to focus on negative occurrences. For example, the news will report on the terrible car accident that happened. They will not, of course, report on the thousands of people that safely drove that day. (Safe, happy occurrences are not usually considered news.) But, because the news focuses so much on negative events, it can make us feel that only bad things are happening in the world,” she explained.
The clinical psychologist added that the news often focuses on events that make us fearful, “because when we are afraid, we tend to think we need to keep watching the news.”

Mistaken Love Is Still Love
When asked what are psychological benefits to reducing the time you spend on social media and watching TV, Dr. Lise said that when her clients report anxiety, sadness or anger about the news, she often encourages them to limit their news/social media exposure. “Most of us can stay informed through a quick read of the headlines. Having the news on in the background, or checking Twitter all day, often distresses people because the news almost always focuses on scary negative events and ignores positive ones,” she explained.

The good news is that we can all learn to become more positive and resilient to negativity. “One way is to learn who or what makes us feel good, and who or what makes us feel bad. For example, my mood usually improves when I listen to music or go outside. My mood usually goes downhill when I stop exercising. All of us have activities that lift us up or bring us down.”
Dr. Lise also said that the more aware we can be, the better choices we can make. “Does it help you to dance? Write? Call a friend? Take a bath? See if you can figure out what is in your positivity 'toolbox,'" she suggested.

That's espacially sad cause most big stores would accept to prep your groceries in advance and put them in your trunk. Especially if you need help like by being elderly in a pandemic. I feel them though, it is hard to think through during such panick. I just hope they found a more reliable way to safely buy their groceries.

and i still don't care... and i don't say it in a bad way. who cares if someone gay or not? why should you changed your behavior toward someone who's gay?
Because when he came out, people did care and did change their behaviour. People would be attacked, denied work, etc. It's much better now but homophobic attacks and bullying are still a thing. So we should normalise it as much as possible and even celebrate it, in order to change those last remaining public perceptions.
Load More Replies...love is love. People should judge less and live more with positive attitudes.
Imagine the sheer weight lifted off their shoulders. It's gotta be painful. It has to obstruct your life. We can't even imagine.
I wish folks would not make such a big deal out other's preferences.. and it's really none of our business. Let's live and let live!❤
While this is a great sentiment and it had great intentions, it's not entirely true. Some people definitely do regret coming out - whether it be losing friends, being cut off from family, being kicked out of the house or abused, or many other reasons. So saying "I've never met a gay person who regretted coming out" comes off as a bit ignorant and privileged. It's not always safe to come out.
Considering that there are something like a hundred different kinds of mammals who have gay and straight partners. But it isn't 'natural' say the idiots. Hah. Being natural is being you.
I regret coming out as trans to my parents. They said a lot of really terrible things to me and now I'm scared they're going to find out that I'm out as a guy at school and with all my friends. They all care about me and support me but aside from that, coming out just made me a lot more scared. That's my parents fault though.
I am so sorry that your parents did that to you! You should not have to be scared because of your parents. Yes it is your parent's fault, not yours. Be true to yourself and proud of who you are! This is from an old Christian lady who believes that we should all stop judging each other and love one another instead.
Load More Replies...And we are celebrating with you. Now let's hope for a day when "coming out" will no longer be a concept at all.
We're a heterosexual couple and have lots of gay friends: boys with boys, girls with girls, and one close friend who goes back and forth. It doesn't even occur to me to consider or, worse, to judge their lifestyle. They are friends and we enjoy their company and that of the latest SO. And their flamboyant parties are a LOT more fun than most!
Wouldn't it be a perfect world if the gay community was accepted, loved and celebrated and Christians and other undesirables had to hide in shame for fear of persecution by *their* superiors.
It's sad that even in our time there are still places in the world where being gay is illegall I hope with all my heart that soon that won't be the case
i cant imagine that as well not being able to be your true self to anyone that has came out you are very brave and im proud of you
💯 literally lol like the Show. thats the world we are headed toward, thankfully, where people dont have to announce. Where people see souls instead of anatomy.
I love Ian McKellen He is such an amazing actor and a truly wonderful human being. He broke my heart in a film called And The Band Played On about the outbreak/discovery of AIDS. He really played the part so well. The ending credits too also tore the heart out of me. Life long Mr McKellen. I would watch anything you are in. Life long fan since that movie year's ago.
One of the best things being an adult has afforded me Has been to be seen and finally heard... I'm not LGBT but growing up "children should be seen and not heard" was always a rough line.. We should all be seen and heard... for who we are- and no one should tell any of us what that should be like.... it's your life.. 🖖
I remember a few kids regretting coming out temporarily due to their religious families kicking them out on the street. At least some of them got to choose their own non-blood related, non religious families that were a hell of a lot better.
Straight people don't yell to the world they're straight so why do gay people think anyone cares they're gay? Keep it to yourself

My Eyes Are Sweating Wow
I helped my mum look after my dad throughout his illness. I did all the heavy and hard stuff she couldn’t do that he would worry about - the garden, cleaning the car, shopping, diy, you name it I did it. There are lots of photos of that time - dad and mum, dad and my brother, dad and his grandchildren but I don’t have a single photo of me with my dad; I was always the one taking the pictures, capturing the memories for everyone else.i will have to try this, I miss him everyday.

Man, why do I read posts like this. I am pregnant, therefore I cry when I,for example, see nice flower and this caused waterfalls.
I remember when I was pregnant crying at credit card commercials. I feel you! Keep some emergency tissues on you at all times. ❤️

This article brings tears to my eyes, warmth to my heart and hope to my soul! I loved each and every story. Kindness and compassion should never be taken for granted.
I've been emotional the past few days and thought I would be laughing and smiling from these posts... so wrong. I cried my eyes out with a few smiles here and there. But at least it is tears from positivity rather than the stress of life.
I needed this today. Thank you Liucija for putting this thread together.
I am dying of breast ca. One of the hardest things for me is worrying about leaving my 3 children and 2 grandchildren behind in what seems like a sad and unkind world. Thank you for relieving my worry and knowing that there will still be good and kind people for them out there when I am gone 😢😢😢😢
Love the rabbit's little studio apartment! We had a rabbit as a pet when I was around 14, and he was the best pet. He and our little dog, about the same size as the rabbit (small dog) would stay in the rabbit's cage together when we all had to go out for a few hours; Dog had no problems toileting through the bottom of the cage, and he and Rabbit would play together, eat together, and nap together. I remember them both very well, even though that was nearly 60 years ago.
Idk why but I cried a little more at each one. Thank you for this
imagine calling an entire country of people vile & then implying that you're part of the group of people being kind.
