Recently, a former worker at an unnamed national restaurant chain shared an incident on the Petty Revenge community that he had at work with a general manager from hell.

“He consistently lied about everything, lied about bonuses, lied about benefits, etc. all the fucking time,” the Redditor wrote. One day, the manager announced that the author “owed the company over $4,000 in insurance premiums.”

This proved to be the last drop in the employee’s already full glass of patience, so he came up with a revenge plan.

A career coach doesn’t think it’s legal for a manager to collect past-due insurance premiums from their employees

Bored Panda reached out to Christine Mitterbauer, licensed and ICF-approved career coach and serial entrepreneur based in the UK, who said that she hasn’t heard of any company collecting past-due insurance premiums from their employees. “I don’t think it’s legal,” she said.

“While this story probably makes you laugh, and there’s an element of the manager getting what he deserved, I don’t think this kind of childish revenge is the right way to solve any challenges in life,” Mitterbauer said.

But the career coach doubts that this kind of revenge is the right way to solve any challenges in life

“It might make you feel good for a bit that you have caused the manager some harm back, given all the hurt he caused you. But what is this really going to achieve? Who else gets damaged or suffers in the process?” Mitterbauer suggests thinking about the other managers, employees, and the damage to the property.

“Will the end result be that the manager realized he has been a jerk and changes behavior? If all the answers are no, think twice about whether petty recent is the right kind of action,” the career coach concluded.

And this is how people reacted to this story
