Did you ever notice that the brain tends to retain the most random information instead of the one you actually need? For instance, how come I can recite Baby Got Back word by word, but can't possibly force my brain to remember my postcode? I'm sure I'm not the only one and this thread that recently went viral on Twitter proves just that. When one person asked, "What’s the most random fact you know?", people delivered. Some of the facts are lesser-known than the others, some you may have heard already - nonetheless, we still found them quite amusing to read. So, the people here at Bored Panda have made you a list of 45 random, but interesting facts that people shared on Twitter. Scroll down below to see all the entries and tell us in the comments below what's the most random fact that you know!

Bored Panda would like to note that this is just one of the theories of how clinking glasses originated.
I've always assumed it is also because the right hand was regarded as the, 'correct' hand and thus the sword hand. Can't properly wield a sword and shake hands. Also assumed it is why we (the Brits) drive on the left; when riding the right hand was free to wield sword/pistol to try to ward off attack.

Sorry, I have to disagree. The tradition stems from harbor taverns. You used to hire sailors for your ship by giving them something called the "Heuerpfennig" (hiring penny). Like a pay in advance, and if you accept it, you have to board the captains ship for the next route. So if a ship didn't have enough people on board, they payed for someones drink in a tavern and snuck the penny in the drink. If they accepted the drink and finished it, they had been hired and had no choice but to come on board. So they started to touch glasses to hear, whether there was a penny at the bottom of their drink. (Beer mugs used to be from tin here, so you couldn't see the bottom.)
Scottish drinking vessel, the Quaich, is two handed so that you can't hold a weapon while drinking or even giving a drink to a guest..
I strongly suspect that, as with much of supposed highland culture, this is an amusing story they made up to sell tourists more souvenirs.

Military hand salutes originate from armored knights raising the face shield for recognition
We Europeans have the best ideas. What else are you to do...
Sure. People bang their glasses on the off chance that a bit will spill into each other's glass. Have you ever actually done that? Do you know how much you have to spill from your glass to get even a little into the other glass? Do you think that a few hundred years ago people didn't know how to, I don't know, pour a little bit directly into the other's cup, or even maybe exchange cups? Newsflash: people weren't any bigger idiots in the Middle Ages than they are today.
Like sticking your pinkie out when drinking tea.....hookers touting for business on the sly in a tea shop
Emperor Kitten. I was always told that in the Middle Ages men shook hands, each with their dominant hand extended, to ensure that neither of them would draw their swords on one another. I may be wrong. Just what I understood.
That sounds like something me and my friends would do. You know those conversations you have that would get you out in a mental hospital if someone overheard them?
when you clink glasses, it represents the last of the 5 senses - sound.
I’m not saying there aren’t extremely strong women out there and good for them, but this post is nonsensical. So one woman in one weight class is stronger than the strongest man in that same weight class. IN ONE CLASS. The strongest men in the world generally weigh 300-400 pounds. By the poster’s logic if a woman got to that size she’d be as strong or stronger. It’s simply not correct and it’s not sexist to say so...
Just walking into the room where I had the thought usually does it for me. Generally, the reason that something in the room was reminding me to get/do something in the first place. I might forget what when I enter a different room, but when I walk back (normally, not backwards) the reason is still there and I'm reminded again.

In Britain, most foods are exempt from the value-added tax, but potato chips — known as crisps — and “similar products made from the potato, or from potato flour,” are taxable. However, it was decided that Pringles are exempt from the tax, mainly because they have less potato content than a potato chip.

You can use clawed frogs for pregnancy tests. In fact this was done in many countries till well into the 60s. Since their gamete development inducing hormone is sufficiently similar to human hCG injecting them with the urine of a pregant woman will induce ovulation or in males spermatorrhea
This just begs the question of Who thought of this first?????
