If You’re Tired Of All The Recent Negative News, These 46 Wholesome Pics Will Restore Your Faith In America
Former United States President John F. Kennedy once said, “Tolerance implies no lack of commitment to one's own beliefs. Rather it condemns the oppression or persecution of others.” Since the election the majority of U.S citizens feel that race relations have gotten worse. These poor race relations coincide with a record high in political divides, reaffirming the popular phrase that the U.S is now a nation divided.
It can all seem overwhelming at times, so stop and take a minute. Take a break from the bad news on your social media feeds, the political pundits, and hateful rhetoric. Bored Panda wants you to remember all the good things that still happen day to day and that we can all do a small part in bringing more tolerance. We have gathered a list of stories that show random acts of kindness people have shown to their fellow citizens, and we hope it will restore some faith you have in humanity. Scroll down below and don't forget to vote for your favorites!

A Couple Of Months Ago, An Elderly Lady Asked Me To Walk Her Home Because She Was Scared She Was Going To Slip On The Ice. We've Become Friends And Now I Walk Her Home Almost Everyday
This Is Anthony Borges, 15. He Used His Body To Hold A Classroom Door Shut, Protecting 20 Other Students Inside As The Gunman Fired Through The Door, Hitting Him Five Times. May He Have A Speedy Recovery
You are a true hero, you showed strength & endurance in a tough situation, and you are a survivor. God Bless You .
Load More Replies...I still can't believe this is even a thing kids need to deal with in America. But this kid is amazing
I know! Here I am having trouble explaining to my boyfriends' son why someone in his class is mean to him. I can't imagine explaining what to do when you hear gun shots. If 99% of America doesn't have extreme anxiety in 20 years, I'll actually be surprised...
Load More Replies...That word gets tossed around to include anybody who does anything someone likes. There needs to be a new word to describe someone like this guy.
Load More Replies...I mean, kudos to him, but it shouldn’t have happened in the first place.
Load More Replies...He's wonderful, but I can't smile at this because IT NEVER SHOULD HAVE HAPPENED
This is America: where school kids end up in a hospital (or worse: the morgue) instead of college because school shootings happen. Dear America, you have a beautiful country, but this kid should not have been in a hospital bed. Please, please solve your youth’s issues with shooting their schoolmates.
I'm so saddened that you had to be put in to this situation, Anthony. God Bless You for being such a hero. Your mother raised a great young man. Prayers for healing.
You deserve everything that is wonderful in this world. You are a hero.
I am in shock. NO ONE SHOULD COME TO A SCHOOL WITH A GUN AND SHOOT A CHILD THROUGH A CLASSROOM DOOR! WTH??!?!?!? MAY WHOEVER DID THIS TO A FIFTEEN YEAR OLD KID... This is unacceptable. Schools and shootings shouldn't even be in the same sentence. What kind of world do we live in where 15 year old kids are HOSPITALIZED because SOME PYCHO came and for what purpose? What did this do? IT DOES NOTHING! EXCEPT FOR SCAR, KILL, AND OTHERWISE DAMAGE YOUNG CHILDREN!!!!!!!!!! This needs to stop. Right now. Anthony, may you heal until you are better than before so that you can help spread your story and help our country.
If ever there was a true hero, Anthony is it! Thank-you, Anthony! Tears...
There is nothing more wonderful to me than someone holding another person's hand. Two brave people. Thank you!💜💜
He's a natural born hero. I pray he makes a swift and complete recovery.
There are no words. He deserves the highest medal for bravery a non-military person can receive.
What a brave and wonderful young man to selflessly risk his life for others!
Amazingly, he was home from the hospital by April 4, 2018, just about 5 weeks after the shooting.
why are there gunshots in a school? hats off to you kid, but in a free country, this would not happen. free from fear of death on a daily basis.
Wait, why was someone shooting children anyway? Are these the same kind of people who tie rocks to dogs and throw them in water?
Wonder who pays for his treatment or will his bankrupt family be owing for the rest of their lives?
You are a true HERO! I wish you the Best from British Columbia Canada 🇨🇦
I pray for your recovery, Anthony Borges. You are very brave and a loving person. God bless‼️🥰🥰🥰
The word 'Hero' gets flung around a lot but this is a chance to actually SEE one!
A true hero! Risking his own life for classmates! God bless him! ❤️🙏✝️
Please tell me he is thriving. The world cannot afford to endure another great life soldier suffering. Thank you for YOU ;-D
I'm praying for his total recovery. His heroism is to be honored as this officer is doing. I pray God's greatest blessings on this young man!
I'm praying for his total recovery! His heroism is to be honored! God bless this young man!
May you always be proud of saving your fellow students lives, and may you continue on your road to recovery..
May God touch you and heal you swiftly. May He bless you abundantly for what you did to save others. And may you know that when you get to heaven He will hug you, pat you on the back, and say "Well done oh good and faithful servant. Well done." Get well soon Anthony. You are a young man after my own heart.
I would so like to meet that young man. He is a hero. I know you helped him heal K Jesus. God bless you sir.
Anthony you are an amazing young man. To shield the other students from harm, you put your own life in jeopardy. You are my hero. Through you, I know there are others out there like you. Thank you for being one of the good guys. God bless you and your family.
Anthony is the epitome of courage. He bravely did what those BSO deputies who were at the scene of the massacre and who were under the command of the uniformed person in the photograph miserably failed to do.
I Love this what a HERO! He didn't care what color the kids were. We need all cops to be like Anthony!!
Brought me to tears, this boy is a hero, not only to those he saved, but in the eyes of a nation ❤️
Brings me to tears, so heroic! God bless him and may he have a full recovery 🙏🏼
Oh baby...You brave, brave young man. Thank you so much...As an energy conduit, I lovingly send you all the healing energy for a speedy recovery
God Bless you...my kids lost their dad in the Aurora Theatre shooting...you are strong and beyond brave...
Thannkful you are still with us--we need young people like you...
Sending you lots of love and healing thoughts! Thank you for your bravery!🎈👍
You have a seat waiting for you in Heaven young man. God bless your bravery of the highest order.
ANOTHER STORY SO GOOD IT HAS BROUGHT TEARS TO ME, YOU'RE A HERO MY FRIEND AND THOSE STUDENTS SHOULD AND WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER YOU JUST AS THAT.
May you have a speedy recovery. Bless your heart. Prayers and hugs.
Hell yes! A real HERO! Thank you Anthony...Hang in there and recover soon.
Love and prayers to you dear one. You likely saved many lives. Praying that you recover soon.
Hope he has full recovered and his been recognized for his bravery. Here is a real hero!
You are so brave and was willing to lay down your life for those students! Reminds me of Jesus example!
What a hero you are, Anthony! Your classmates are very lucky to have you as a friend.
God BLESS this young man and show him your special FAVOR all the rest of his days (and may he live well to a ripe old age).
The definition of a hero. May he get all the support he needs during his recovery.
Amazing act of courage in the face of certain death, and survived. God is with you my friend
Praying for your healing, Anthony! Thankful to God for heroes like you!
Anthony, God Bless you, you have earned your wings, I hope your future is wonderful, may you be blessed with a great career, Officer, thanks for showing your kindness !!!
You are courageous a good friend to all, may you heal healthy and get all the hugs and honor you deserve.
Summer Walters. This is the slim young student's picture I told you who saved 20 lives. They never made a big deal over him and/or his heroics.
Please God, let him get well and have a happy life, in Jesus's name I pray!
HERO! Praying for his FULL recovery. I hope he is rewarded well for his bravery.
The courage and forethought of this 15 year-old is more than many adults would presume to have. May all your scars, seen and unseen, heal completely and may your future be as bright as your courage is amazing.
HERO!!! bless you and love you!! I trust you are going to be so well again Anthony !!!
To have such bravery.. heal well well young Hero. I wonder if he knows how incredibly brave he is.
HODOR! You have my outmost respect and I hope you recover fast. True hero.
This makes you want to write him a letter telling him that not only did he save his fellow students, but also set an example of bravery and hope the rest of us really need. Thanks for doing what you did Anthony, you restore my faith in humanity!
You have more guts than 100 people, get well soon, tough guy. God bless you richly
Your heart is bigger than your body, dear man! Thank you for caring!
I say, "Your heart was/is bigger than your body, dear Anthony"!! Live long and prosper!!! Love to you from "another mother".....
Here in Europe we don't have mass murders in schools, but terrorists attacks. Why because of all the wars started by the Usa government. We get the coat bad end of the deal. All refugees from across the Mediterranean sea land up here! Why the usa doesn't take their part of the burden?
Oh god.. I cannot even imagine the pain he must have gone through.. god bless you and your family..
Heal well and live a Happy Healthy prosperous loving life God Bless you and keep you well.
Ooooh tears. How such a young boy can be already so protective. I'm proud of your act.
June 23rd, how is the young lad now? Does anyone know? A concerned mother! Thanks!
I can't help but think that no 15 year old pupil should ever have to be in this kind of situation, in the first place!! He is a total hero, but this pic shouldn't make Americans proud, it should make them upset and start some kind of gun-control!
The headline said I would smile :/...really brave bit makes me more cry than smile..
Anthony, you are what a true hero is! May God Bless your life richly!
Humanity is a gift very few get given. But we all have the power to possess it.
Oh my gosh, I almost cried out in public about this. Peace be with you!

She was retiring at the time after 40 years as a carer and said that she couldn't stand to lose me, which kinda works out great because I love her and I couldn't stand to lose her either.

Man In Red Needed Help With Son's Math Homework And Got It From A Stranger On The Subway
So today on my way from work the guy in the red sat down opened up his folder and started reading. A few stops later the guy next to him sat down and asked him what he's studying: "You look a little confused maybe I can help?". He says his son failed a math test: "They're learning fractions so I'm just teaching myself this over again so I can help him I'm 42 & don't know any of this so I'm re teaching myself." The guy in the black informed him he use to be a math teacher so he asked the guy to quiz him and everything he got wrong or was confused about he broke it down and corrected him. By the end of my train ride the guy in the red had a better understanding. He can bring home a new method and teach his child. I really love seeing things like this especially in New York.

Here in southern Ohio folks wear the Confederate flag in order to DECLARE that they are racist (and frequently profess other bigotries as well). They will say it's to show pride in their Southern heritage, then spew racist viewpoints, then reassert that said racism is part of their Southern heritage. The Confederate flag might have had non-racist usage in some instances in the past, but if you're seeing it north of the Mason-Dixon Line today, it's frequently used as a declaration of hatred.

No One Is Born A Racist
These make me so happy. There is a lot of hate in this world, and sometimes I forget to look at anything but the hate. It's so prominent everywhere I go, this is a wonderful change of pace. Thank you to whoever posted these.
People need to see these especially today with all that is happening out there with the shootings. June 2020 There is still a lot of good people out there. Cannot lose our faith in humanity.
Load More Replies...Exactly. The US doesn't own a monopoly on kindness.
Load More Replies...Treat people as individuals and judge them by their own character, not by a group identity. Don't blame other groups for your own poor life choices.
This happens all across the world, not only in America :) Good hearts are everywhere and they resotre faith in humanity.
I understand what you are saying but I think those of us in America needed a little reminder of kindness and empathy
Load More Replies...I don't think that was what was implied, just that with all the bad press America gets with everyone hating each other that there is another side.
Load More Replies...This made my day and restored my faith in the human nature!! I hope you have a wonderful life, you who posted this and you the one reading this too!
Solid proof that people CAN make a change! As long as we work together and help each other.
They don't forget. They don't care. media wants ratings/views. they want the most dramatic spectacular stuff. And that doesn't always equal things that are most important or have the most impact.
Maybe take the picture of Davonte Hart hugging the cop down? There’s good reason to believe that he was coerced into hugging the officer. His mom drove him off a cliff in California earlier this year. I’m just not sure that that picture is the best way to honor him.
Fact is, there are far more of these stories than the hateful ones. Unfortunately these stories of kindness don't generate enough ratings so hate is what the news gives us.
Thank you so much for posting these pictures and whoever is cutting up onions, enough already.
These make my heart smile. With all the vitriol and hate in the world, these are rare moments caught forever. In bad times, always look for the helpers.
We are NOT who we voted for. We are human beings with souls, regardless of the our gender, the color of our skin, our language, or our religion. If we can remember that, we will persevere, if not, we are lost.
What I like most is that race is hardly mentioned here. We are all just people, and it's great to see that people are people (Thanks Depeche Mode) without making any deal about race. Bravo.
This made my day :) Unfortunately, I'm also crying hysterically, I really didn't expect this at all, but I'm grateful. These acts of kindness are really what give meaning, what life should be about...
While I appreciate the simple beauty of all of this, let's not forget that we need to look to local, state, national and international policy, regulates, laws etc. that protect the rights of the individual and empower the poorest among us, In other words act locally, think globally.
We need more like this. People are people. Kindness counts in the grand scheme of things.
Awesome! They are all so inspiring I can’t chose a favorite. Thank you for sharing them. I feel encouraged about our country.
Exceptional post, there must be acts of kindness, we are unable to see, I am certain of it, unfortunately, of late the turmoil of racism, has us forgetting, there are good people, of all colors, kindness is all around us, it may not be visible, but just around the corner !!!
Mimi E. Everyone should scroll through these photos. It makes me feel so good.
These photos are beautiful! I feel so hopeful and much more happy and grateful. Thank you all!
I absolutely loved these! They just made my day! Thank you for putting a smile on my face!
People do judge me by my color. But, I’d rather smile and be happy then miserable and spread the anger. Keep smiling! It makes for a nicer day.
Great beautiful sample of real good every day people. Thanks
I've been wiping tears since like the 3rd picture. These pictures just prove that it's not over just yet, there's more work to be done but it begins with us. Hopefully it will turn around sooner than later.
These are wonderful heart wrenching stories. An example to all of how it could be if there was more humanity, less hatred and greed, and better understanding of each others needs. We are all on this planet together and not just in this pandemic together, and need to work together if we are to ultimately survive the unknowns ahead. We need each other. We must all get on and respect every person regardless of their nationality , colour or creed. We evolved from apes, developed intelligence and and must use it wisely and will only survive as a species if we act now to make our planet a better. For those with most of our financial resources I would say, spend it on making this world great instead of pretending we can live on other planets. This notion is idiotic to say the least. If there was the possibility of trips to those places only the ultra rich could avail.
Great!!!!! Thank you so much for this beautiful and inspiring compilation! 🐛💜🦋
I'm loving Bored Panda. We've been isolating at home for 3 months now, and we need to see people doing sweet things.

I've been looking at videos of puppies to deal with anxiety of the past 2 weeks but this is even better. Just regular people being kind.
Thanks so much for whoever compiled these pictures, they are so needed right now.
Not faith in the USA (or America , as you refer to it) , but faith in all the people from the American Continent and everywhere in the wold. 😁
Not faith in USA, but faith in people, be it from the USA or from all the American Continent, and from everywhere in the world.
I truly believe there are more good people in the world than bad. We need to focus on good! 💜💜💜
I have high levels of anxiety, special agoraphobia and have been going through a depression cycle. I have no words, just not enough words to express my gratitude for the boredpanda .com team and the posts herein. It doesnt change instantly my heart, the mental confusion and emotional rollercoster dont just disappear, but for someone like my that oscilattes between panick attacks, uncontrolable emotional pain and occasional mental mess (to the point of not risking leaving the house for fear of forgetting to look sideways for cars or cooking for fear of forgetting the stove is on- trust me the struggle is real), your posts make me cry. This post made me cry- of joy; i havent been capable of crying even for sadness in a long while. The catharsis, the release that comes with crying is underestimated. THANK YOU with all my heart for bringing a bit of sunshine to my day. God bless you for this.
It's a shame our biased media who would rather report things that divide us refuse to report on stories like these!
Beautiful pictures. Made my eyes leak seeing the kindness of strangers.
DON'T make me CRY! I mean it! Why are so many Americans so damned nice and sweet and loving and....oh dear.....pass me a tissue...
I'm all choked up and teary eyed now. Why can't everyone be like this??
More of this please!! We're so divided right now, we need more reminders that it doesn't have to (and should not) be that way.
These have actually made me cry. In the soul crushing 24hr news cycle of incessant tRump I needed to be reminded that there are normal people out there doing decent things for other people everyday. Thanks BP.
Nothing unique for North- or South America, or Asia, Europe, Australia or Africa. It's called being human, what a tragedy if it was something unique!
only 5 pages...should have been more... the best way to understand sanity and love still exist
You people are very good at turning on the water works and making my mascara run.
These were all just so sweet, and very sad in a way. Wish we could see more of this in the news and less of the crazy and hateful. I wonder how much of it would stop if there was no notice taken of it? Although exposing the crazy and hateful for what it is can make a difference at times, too.
Um, i know that i'll be killed, but... has anybody noticed that all of this are just featured black and white people? I believe that solidarity should be global. Does black people support Asians and Mexicans too, or they only go for the whites? Sorry, but it feels a bit hypocritical. Black and white are not the only ethnicity that exist.
After this week of children being torn from parents arms and a walking cheeto claiming humanitarian victory by putting the entire family of asylum speakers in jail indefinitely I NEEDED THIS. WE ARE BETTER THAN OUR LEADERSHIP. I needed this post more than I can explain
How humanity is supposed to be......wonderful examples that we need to see more often to inspire those who feel humanity is hopeless.
Trump needs to go so we can get back to THIS America and make it even better!
i don't know how many times I've seen these. doesn't matter, I will take time out everytime. I am smiling like an idiot!!
These were wholesome, I'm so glad people like all of these exist and make the world a better place. Let's keep celebrating kindness :) a giant 'thank you' to all heroes out there!
Makes you easily forget, that DT is the current president. "You are no longer required."
Missing: the pictures of young children being ripped from their mother's arms. I'm sorry, but while these pictures are heartwarming, and remind us that there are decent people all over the world, this is not America.
There is enough oversaturation of bad news in the media to become a nihilist, so I understand your view point, and do believe it's justified to feel betrayed by the current political onslaught. However, the pictures, and what you stand for, "are also America". It is unhealthy for a critical mind to be exclusively be fed negative news about a country you live in 24/7. The U.S. has flaws and good stuff.
Load More Replies...America is the word used for the United States. We're the only country with the word "America" in our name, and our citizens go by the denonym "American".
