I’m Honestly Fed Up With All The Bad News, So I Illustrated 50 Of The Best Ones From 2019
We are often bombarded with fear-mongering and shocking headlines that make us feel that the world is falling apart.
However, while it’s important to report on problems and issues, I believe there is so much good in this world that it needs to be found and promoted just as widely.
Because of that, I started The Happy Broadcast. It's an anti-venom to the vitriolic rhetoric that pervades our media. Also, this year, I’ve illustrated even more happy news than in 2018.
We need more positive news to acknowledge that the world is actually getting better little by little.

When I'm working on The Happy Broadcast, I try to pick news that has an international appeal and touches themes like animal rights, climate change and science. News that shows how much we’re progressing on many fronts despite being often bombarded with few-mongering headlines.
I am so happy for their victory, but just find it bonkers that an indigenous tribe had to fight a legal battle to protect their land in the first place.
I think there are many reasons why negative news is dominating the media. It's like a sudden disaster a, it's more compelling than, for example, little improvements. Bad things can happen quickly, but good things aren’t built in a day, and as they unfold, they're out of sync with the news cycle.
As humans, we have this thing called “negative bias” that make us respond quicker to bad or dangerous situations. Nowadays, this bias is getting in the way of our happiness and well-being, and even our productivity because most of the narrative surrounding us (print, online or mobile) is that the “world is ending".
I think we should find a balance between negative and positive news. From politics to climate change and economy, negative and bad news surrounds us everywhere we go. A potential solution could be to limit the amount of bad news, basically slow down our personal news cycle, adding some positive news to our “news diet” to make sure that our outlook on the world is more optimistic. Also, it's very important to invest time to deal with misinformation and the reliability of news sources.
Hm, I think Sweden must have forgot to apply then. We dont have stray dogs, at least for decades. Any lost dog gets collected, if no owner is found it gets adopted via Animal Protection. I have seen one or two lost dogs, where we found the owner, but never a genuine stray.
SOOOO not against this! But....shouldn't it be equal pay for equal skill? (meaning, no race, gender, age, or any discrimination at all!) If you have more skill in the task, you get paid more, if you have less you get paid less. Plain and simple (yet I know it is more difficult to prove wrong-doing that way too)
Nairobi has a baby elephant orphanage. So I guess not. Of course, if they are brought up in the orphanage, which is by Nairobi National Park, then they are not sold to a zoo or circus.
Trainers in Ireland and England have found that ANY dog of average health -- regardless of age or pedigree -- can sniff out changes in blood sugar (diabetes dogs), onset of epileptic seizures, kidney failure and cancer recurrence.
A study found that a well trained dog can smell a single molecule of a substance they have been trained to detect. Better than mechanical sniffers. At the airport we referred to the K-9s working with the bomb squad as "furry Itemisers."
And they can smell diabetic swings before the human even knows they are low or high!
Dogs are amazing, and this is just one of hundreds, where dogs are more superior than humans!

My old female cat used to aggressively bust her way into the bathroom to sniff my underwear at the beginning of each pregnancy. Want to say she was a solid week ahead of any pregnancy test :-) Found it extra lovely because our two male cats wouldn't acknowledge the change in my body chemistry until well into the first trimester (all three were fixed when kittens).
Interesting; maybe she sensed and looked for a young in need of care.

I know this to be a fact. My Dalmatian dog kept nudging my lower leg and licking one spot. I finally went to see a Doctor, I have a lot freckles so I was not concerned. He checked the spot and discovered it to be a small ongoing Melanoma. He cut it out and it was not big but went deep. He got all of it and my dog just sniffed it and then left it alone. They know I always trusted him because he knew when I was not well.
All animals are more intelligent than we give them credit for, love animals, they do not hate, they do not cheat, they do not murder anybody who does not threaten them.

Dogs will happily do the same thing over and over if they are rewarded for it - tennis balls, tug-ropes are the kinds of things that encourage sniffer dogs for example.

This actually isn't new, the old study discovered that; also, a dog can sense and alert his guardian of sudden seizure of a disease.
Does a dog need to be trained, cancer, it's so widespread we all need a trained dog !!!
I just saw a story about this on NBC news. The lady's Siberian husky detected her first cancer in her stomach and the 3 reoccurrences.
My dog kept licking a tiny spot on my arm - turns out it's a tiny skin cancer! Thanks Trixie!

Yes, dogs are amazing, love them and very underrated by humans but that will change!
That is because carnivores are sensitive to the weak, the sick, the old and other vulnerable ones. In nature that's one way of keeping the herd strong.

Posts like these give me faith in humanity. Don't get me wrong, it's important to be informed about world issues, but it's nice to escape that every once in a while and know how far we've come.
Life is calmer when people take care of their little spheres in the world and stop obsessing about the whole world. People who mire themselves in the world's problems start to see people as the enemy.

This is a great post and many of these are amazing things, the problem is that the more we keep people alive and the longer they live the bigger the population gets which isn't sustainable. So it's a double edged sword. It's a catch-22.

I think a balance is better. Transparency reduces corruption. Confidentiality "divides and conquers" unity in humanity. All CULTures reduce free thinking and truer happiness. Imagine developmentally disabled having equal power and wealth to intellectuals.
When I read these good news headlines, it helps me realize that we are making progress. Yes, there's a lot of bad news in the world, but good news is just as plentiful when we look for it. Good news is healing. I'm sharing this on all my social media pages!

We can have the world be mostly fantastic and turn things around. But we have to withdraw from bank issued money. This is imperative if we want peace in the world and in our lives because banksters will bleed you dry. Yes even you.

There's been a ton of great news lately though, communists got BTFO'd in a lot of western countries, the US economy is doing great, brexit is finally going to go through without impedance. Overall SJW's are losing and the people are regaining some of their power.
