I’m Honestly Fed Up With All The Bad News, So I Illustrated 50 Of The Best Ones From 2019
We are often bombarded with fear-mongering and shocking headlines that make us feel that the world is falling apart.
However, while it’s important to report on problems and issues, I believe there is so much good in this world that it needs to be found and promoted just as widely.
Because of that, I started The Happy Broadcast. It's an anti-venom to the vitriolic rhetoric that pervades our media. Also, this year, I’ve illustrated even more happy news than in 2018.
We need more positive news to acknowledge that the world is actually getting better little by little.

When I'm working on The Happy Broadcast, I try to pick news that has an international appeal and touches themes like animal rights, climate change and science. News that shows how much we’re progressing on many fronts despite being often bombarded with few-mongering headlines.
I am so happy for their victory, but just find it bonkers that an indigenous tribe had to fight a legal battle to protect their land in the first place.
I think there are many reasons why negative news is dominating the media. It's like a sudden disaster a, it's more compelling than, for example, little improvements. Bad things can happen quickly, but good things aren’t built in a day, and as they unfold, they're out of sync with the news cycle.
As humans, we have this thing called “negative bias” that make us respond quicker to bad or dangerous situations. Nowadays, this bias is getting in the way of our happiness and well-being, and even our productivity because most of the narrative surrounding us (print, online or mobile) is that the “world is ending".
I think we should find a balance between negative and positive news. From politics to climate change and economy, negative and bad news surrounds us everywhere we go. A potential solution could be to limit the amount of bad news, basically slow down our personal news cycle, adding some positive news to our “news diet” to make sure that our outlook on the world is more optimistic. Also, it's very important to invest time to deal with misinformation and the reliability of news sources.
Hm, I think Sweden must have forgot to apply then. We dont have stray dogs, at least for decades. Any lost dog gets collected, if no owner is found it gets adopted via Animal Protection. I have seen one or two lost dogs, where we found the owner, but never a genuine stray.
SOOOO not against this! But....shouldn't it be equal pay for equal skill? (meaning, no race, gender, age, or any discrimination at all!) If you have more skill in the task, you get paid more, if you have less you get paid less. Plain and simple (yet I know it is more difficult to prove wrong-doing that way too)
You'll be happy to know that a lot of senior day programs and nursing homes have animal visitation. In Denver it's only limited by the number of people who can evaluate, transport and oversee shelter animals.

IN my state in Australia, the rspca will allow adoptions ( they quiz the humans very carefully, and you have to sign a contract to be kind ) of elder animals free. Cats and dogs over ten years..... i adopted a 14 year old cat and just love him.
Greyhounds in Victoria are free if they are 5 and over. Spayed , collar lead and jacket included!

I love this. As a senior, you think twice before adopting a pet who would be left homeless If you died or were hospitalized.
I have an older friend whose son took her to animal rescue when her husband of 54 years died. Come to find out, the sweet, older dog she selected has epileptic seizures. Since her husband was epileptic, she took her new companion to the doctor and keeps medicine handy. In short, the sweet dog has not had a seizure in some time and the two are fast friends. Where she goes, so goes this incredible dog!
Just read about a 93 year old man adopting a 13 year old dog ready to be put down. Both are thrilled to be with each other, and will live out their lives with all the TLC they both deserve!

The average home in San Fran is around a mil now. Any low-cost entertainment for the fixed income elderly is probably very much needed.
San Francisco also has co-housing for Seniors and Single-parent households. The emotional and practical support they receive from each other is proving revolutionary!

Don't think its thought through - dogs have a short life span and a death is just another reminder of ones mortality - young pups from shelters may be a better idea ?
Probodh, just because people do not want to be reminded of their own mortality, (which is silly) the older dogs should be deprived of opportunity to love and be loved? This is an example of the typical human egoistic superiority.

The original cuddle clubs gave me the creeps but this is dogs and humans so it is really nice.
Nairobi has a baby elephant orphanage. So I guess not. Of course, if they are brought up in the orphanage, which is by Nairobi National Park, then they are not sold to a zoo or circus.

Posts like these give me faith in humanity. Don't get me wrong, it's important to be informed about world issues, but it's nice to escape that every once in a while and know how far we've come.
Life is calmer when people take care of their little spheres in the world and stop obsessing about the whole world. People who mire themselves in the world's problems start to see people as the enemy.

This is a great post and many of these are amazing things, the problem is that the more we keep people alive and the longer they live the bigger the population gets which isn't sustainable. So it's a double edged sword. It's a catch-22.

I think a balance is better. Transparency reduces corruption. Confidentiality "divides and conquers" unity in humanity. All CULTures reduce free thinking and truer happiness. Imagine developmentally disabled having equal power and wealth to intellectuals.
When I read these good news headlines, it helps me realize that we are making progress. Yes, there's a lot of bad news in the world, but good news is just as plentiful when we look for it. Good news is healing. I'm sharing this on all my social media pages!

Thank you Mario. A good effort was put into this and it was very interesting. Just a pity our world is so distorted that these things happen once in a blue moon. We can have the world be mostly fantastic and turn things around. But we have to withdraw from bank issued money. This is imperative if we want peace in the world and in our lives because banksters will bleed you dry. Yes even you.

There's been a ton of great news lately though, communists got BTFO'd in a lot of western countries, the US economy is doing great, brexit is finally going to go through without impedance. Overall SJW's are losing and the people are regaining some of their power.
