Slowcation
Instead of booking overly busy vacations, in 2024 people will tend to book slowcations - vacations, where they can actually rest their bodies. “More lazy mornings in bed!” can be called a motto for the new year.
I approve. I hate being rushed on vacation and prefer going somewhere for a whole month and exploring things at my own pace. After one of those 2 days here 1 day here, etc running around holidays I'd probably need a vacation just to recuperate.
Having worked retail the last few years & now from a position with a lot more responsibility & demand, I need an effing sabbatical. The level of entitlement from people has gone next level. I'm down for a slowcation!

No they won't. People will do the same mix of stuff they have been doing since forever and the media will chose a thing to focus on and claim that is what everyone is doing. Same as most years. Though I do think people being broke will contribute to more lower key vacations for those who can afford a vacation.
This. People who enjoy this type of vacation will continue to do so, and vice versa. I certainly won't be changing my vacation preferences because someone said they're not trendy anymore.

Just went on vacation to Costa Rica over Thanksgiving and both my husband and I agreed not to load it with excursions. We booked one and that was perfect. Got to leave the resort, see the actual country and meet the awesome citizens. Seriously, Costa Ricans are my favorite people from any of the vacations ever! Anyhoo the rest if the vacation we slept in, spent the day at the pools and swimming in the ocean, sun tanning and enjoying the delicious food. No rushing to get from one place to another. It's my favorite vacation ever. So relaxing. Just what we needed!

I take a weekend, check into a hotel and only leave my room for food. minimal to no human contact. I sleep, read, watch TV, craft - stay off social media. Family knows contact ONLY in emergency. WONDERFUL
