I Captured The Gentle Giants Of Sapporo Maruyama Zoo: Asian Elephants (15 Pics)
Hello everyone, I'm Mac So, a zoo photographer. I specialize in animal portraits, and today I would like to introduce you to the Asian elephants at Sapporo Maruyama Zoo through my work.
Four Asian elephants from Myanmar arrived at the Sapporo Maruyama Zoo in 2018. The environment surrounding wild Asian elephants is not favorable; their population has been decreasing due to habitat destruction caused by deforestation, land clearing, and overhunting for tusks, medicine, and other uses. As a result, they are currently listed as an endangered species.

The birth rate of Asian elephants in captivity is said to be about 0.7% worldwide, which makes breeding very difficult. However, a baby elephant was born last year and turned one year old on August 19 this year.

Newborn elephants are nurses for a min 6 months, but they can suckle up to 6 years!! Elephants are a lovely very self aware species that live on our earth. Humans, have a history of being the most deplorable species, we exploit our own kind! Has anyone thought about this? Humans are just one of the species on earth? We are a despicable. We sell, use or exploit our own or any other species that can make us a monetary advantage. You know politicians are NEVER for the middle class people. This middle class that they are breaking down in the era have been the back bone of this country. Sorry, sometimes I wish I was born and elephant.

The baby elephant weighed about 90 kg at birth but now weighs 605 kg and is growing up well. His name is Tao, which means “brilliance” in Myanmar, the language of his mother country.

These animals are so self aware! You can see the in simple things like a water fall, it just makes me want to join them! And they would probably let me. Racism is such a poor excuse for treating animals and humans that look different.

For any of those who do not get it, elephants are very sweet lovely self aware animals. JUST LIKE HUMANS... They are family oriented, they bear offspring they care for - up 5o 10 years . They cry- shed tears. They feel pain and express it the best they can for humans to understand.
