Tensions are flaring up as the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic continues. And it seems like pretty much everyone is at each other’s throats.
We’ve got people who are willing to get vaccinated against Covid-19 debating the hesitant who believe that they’re being forced to get the jab and that this infringes on their liberties and privacy. Among the latter are some fringe conspiracy theorists and anti-vaxxers who believe that the shots supposedly contain graphene oxide, microchips, cause infertility, or are a way for the Illuminati to increase their control over all of us.
However, the internet’s full of people who see it as their duty to fight fake news and to call out those wearing tinfoil hats. They do this by verbally destroying anti-vaxxers in the comments on social media, and Bored Panda's collected the proof to share with all of you. Check out the most powerful roasts below and let us know which ones you thought were worth calling the fire department over by giving the pics an upvote and writing up a comment.
Dr. Andrew Carroll, from Arizona, went into detail with Bored Panda about why some people are afraid of the vaccines, why the benefits outweigh the risks, and what we can expect to see in the near future, as we're slowly moving out of summer and into autumn. He told me that the vaccines are doing their job very well and helping protect people from hospitalization, even as new variants of the virus emerge. However, defeating the pandemic will require everyone to be on the same page. "If we're ever going to get out of this pandemic (and further variants) we are all going to have to pull together as one unified world, break down vaccine disparities, and use universal precautions."
According to Dr. Carroll, it's the fear of the unknown that drives vaccine skepticism. "We did introduce a brand new vaccine type, the mRNA vaccine. The great thing about it is that we were able to create a vaccine in such a short period of time. It used to take years to develop. This technology was created for the primary purpose of being able to respond extremely rapidly to a fast-moving, debilitating, and deadly virus such as this. But it's because it's new, people are afraid," he said. Read on for Bored Panda's full interview with Dr. Carroll.

Can't Find Scholarly Evidence To Back Up Anti Vax, But That's No Deterrence
Just proves the point of the cherry-picking-process that many antivaxers undergoes. Start with the conclusion THEN find the facts. (sounds a bit like writing a political repport)
And then "force" those facts to fit your conclusion. Somehow.
Load More Replies...I'm from UK and read this as sarcastic, please tell me they are being sarcastic, I can live in a world of dry witty humour, no this can't be real it HAS to be sarcasm, did they not read it back to themselves and realise what they are saying, don't want to generalise but are they American?
Considering the stupidity around us unfortunately i don't think it's sarcastic but i like that you haven't lost hope for humanity yet
Load More Replies...I think the main problem here is to assume that scientific articles would have an agenda. There are no "pro-vax" scientific articles, as any article written with the conclusion set before doing the research would disqualify itself for publicaton in a creditable outlet already. (Of course there are research commentaries, editorials and such that can well contain opinion, but there still is a clear line between scientific articles and pretty much any other written work.)
Wait...so if they're a "newly non vaccinator" doesn't that mean they were vaccinated as a child? Are they also seeking to "cleanse the toxins" from their system along with this research?
Want data? Call hospital and see how many nurses have had to hold the hand of an anti-vaxxer, who realizes their mistake too late.

They flunked science so hard they don’t understand what you are talking about.
The Associated Press (a large, very respectable, factual, "neutral" news source centered in the U.S.) had a terrific article a couple months ago that included a line from an antivaxxer explaining that he didn't trust the vaccine because the world didn't know what the long-term effects were -- while purchasing a pack of cigarettes. I laughed so hard...
Yikes! Sigh... They never seem to worry about long term effects of any other drugs a doctor might prescribe either - even ones that they'll have to take long term!!

You'll both need to get it. The only way to prevent the vaccine from destroying the life of your teen is if the parental DNA has also been exposed. Then that'll neutralize the effects for both of you. (Rationalizing with the irrational...)
Neil Bidle https://covid-101.org/science/how-many-people-have-died-from-the-vaccine-in-the-u-s/ THREE people have died from the vaccine. THREE. Also, over 700,000 people have died from Covid and it’s the VACCINE that “might kill” you?? We’re you born this clueless or did you have to work at it?
Be proud that you raised a child who can make informed decisions, and not jump off the metaphorical bridge because his friends did.
Dr. Carroll explained that those hesitant to get jabbed have heard stories about reactions to the 2nd shot or about "the occasional rare severe reaction." That explains why some people are suspicious and more careful.
"Reactions do occur, but the severe reactions are exceedingly rare, and with such a deadly and serious virus, the benefit of the vaccine far outweigh the risk of it. We are already seeing that the vaccinated in the US who are exposed and contract the Delta variant are far less likely to require hospitalization. That is exactly what vaccines are meant to do. It's doing its job, and it's doing it well," the doctor told Bored Panda that there are more upsides than downsides to getting vaccinated.
Anti-Vaxxers Wanting To Boycott Restaurants They Are Banned From
Happened with Costa Coffee here in the UK, so.. whilst antivaxxer morons boycott a place they can't go to, us sane, good people spread the word to start going to Costa. (though otherwise I always say support your independent coffee shops, and I personally do, but anything to piss off the antivaxxers. So give me a Costa Caramel Cortado! )
did it?? I can't find anything on it, I haven't heard anything about it, and a few of my friends and I (same bubble, before you all come at me) went to Costa a few weeks ago and we weren't even questioned, neither did we hear any of the other patrons being asked or showing vaccx cards x

Beautifully Pointing Out How Jack Doesn’t Know Why A Vaccine Is
Or just uneducated on how vaccines work, doesn’t seem against the idea?
Load More Replies...Yeah, but instead of making fun of this, we should use it. Create an "all natural immune system training serum injection" and market it as an alternative to the vaccine. Whatever gets people vaccinated.
Jack Posobiec is a legit white supremacist. We shouldn't be reposting anything from him, even for an eyeroll. The man is toxic. More info: https://www.splcenter.org/splc-investigation-far-right-oann-anchor-jack-posobiecs-rise-tied-white-supremacist-movement

Load More Replies...I think what really scares me is that Jack has 100% figured out exactly how vaccines work all by himself, and yet doesn't know that's how vaccines work. So he has the exact right idea, but still opposes it in principle (assuming this wasn't an ironic humor post on his part).
Jack is the kind of person to look up and down before crossing a road
Anti Vaxxer Pretends To Be Educated
Well considering the number one cause of death was Influenza a hundred years ago and centuries before and now the number one killer is heart disease and flu is about the 9th. I would say vaccines and medical advancements have improved quality of life, so much so that the number one killer is something caused by people's own lifestyle choices (mostly - generics don't help) instead of a virus.
My mom (who got the smallpox vaccine when she was young) said should the disease ever make a reappearance she's taking all of us (I have four siblings of which the youngest is 19) to go get vaccinated and all I could think was "Well, that'll be an interesting family road trip."
Honestly, anti-vaxxers are born wayyyy out of time. They want to go back to the Dark Ages.
Honestly I think even people in the Dark Ages, if given the option of a vaccine, would accept it.
Load More Replies...I have a friend whose mother is a nurse. This nurse is an antivaxxer. Isn’t it also funny how a few hundred years ago there was only organic food no hand sanitizer and the bubonic plague still killed two thirds of europe
According to Dr. Carroll, some groups use (and actively spread) the misinformation and conspiracy theories to consolidate their power and for financial gain. "I believe there's a great deal of misinformation out there, perpetuated by echo chambers, or interest groups, on social media. If you associate with the people who confirm your beliefs, then you're more likely to not be willing to take in new information that might change your mind," he said.
"There are groups, primarily political groups, which take advantage of this and continue to echo their message. This is in order to maintain power. It is not in the interest of improving their health or getting rid of the pandemic. It is in the hopes of maintaining their vote. The anti-vaxxers have found their strength amongst the skeptical, and rather than accept that science has a better way, they continue to push their antiscience/antivaccine message in hopes that you will continue to listen to them, attend their conferences, by their books, watch their shows, and purchase their alternative medicine."
I Think You Will Survive The Vaccine
People will be chain smoking, drinking too much, doing all types of unhealthy stuff, but a simple vaccine is just too dangerous
Right now I don't believe they think it's dangerous any more. I don't know what it is. Maybe they resent being "pushed" into it or they are just too lazy to get it.

ok, yes, get the vaccine. But just be aware that it's only been a year and there is a chance that there will be some side effects in a few years, unlikely, but still possible. OK, I've spent 6 years in Medical School, 5 years in graduate school (Ph.D. in virology), did bench research for >25 years after that on replication and spread of the viruses and I conclude that I should wear a mask during the pandemic. Being a scientist, I am always ready to hear different opinion, so let's get together and take a look at your research that shows otherwise, and we can compare notes. I am more than willing to change my mind given the convincing evidence...
The doctor also commented on the current situation regarding the pandemic in his local area. "Of course, school is in session (the school district around me has been in session for 2 weeks now), and we're seeing a rapid spread of the virus amongst school children. Arizona has the second-highest rate of deaths among children 17 and under, and yet we are the 14th most populous state. Only Texas has had more deaths," he shared the bad news.
"This is very concerning and reflects the disparities in healthcare, as well as the problems with not requiring schoolchildren to mask up while in school. We also would like to see more uptake of the vaccine in the 12 years and older group."

If it's caught in time. People do still die of it every so often.
Load More Replies...Another even better response I've seen for this one is "25 million people DIED, you uneducated potato."
We all know that OP is going to think 1/3 means one or three people. Using numbers instead of fraction for the continent's population is way better. That number is 25 millions. TWENTY FIVE MILLION people died in 4 years of black plague. In your and your fellow pro-plaguer's words "Do yOUr OwN rEaSeArCH."
Part of the reason the plague was eradicated was because of vaccines and better medical treatment. Same with polio, smallpox, and even chicken pox is starting to die out... well, sadly they haven't been completely eradicated, especially since people are refusing to get vaccinated.
The black plague was actually contracted by a ten year old girl in my area about a month ago. The sad thing is that everyone thought it was covid, so the ER kept sending her home , but once they figured it out, it was too late. Proof that its still out there, and further proof that covid is not the only disease out there now.
Anti Vax Mom Wants To Make An Underground Dating Site For Her Unvaccinated Kids
I'm more concerned by the fact someone is setting up a dating site for children. Um, wat?!?!
Um dating sites for kids? What kind of catch a predator s**t is that?!?!?
I knew anti-vaxers were a bit sick (and more likely to get sicker!) but dating your kids . . .
Well yes, hit them with hard facts. But seems even facts cannot open their eyes.
So Ironic It Hurts
Someone compared risking death while flipping in the air to their family's military service. I wonder if they'd tell their kid "F**k the twisties, you coward - you do the triple-twist quadruple vault or the enemy wins! If you die or end up permanently injured, we will thank you for your service."
The team would have appreciated her becoming permanently disabled. So admire her courage to do what was right rather than what might have been popular.
Someone finally taught him to say “anti vaxxer” instead of “unvaccinated” after that tweet, and as someone who literally just watched an ad right now saying “vaccines are now available for those aged 55 and over”, I appreciate whoever schooled him on that. *Anti-vaxxers* are asshats. People who medically can’t get the vaccine, people who are under age 12 and people in countries that didn’t get to cause one of the world’s worst outbreaks and get bailed out with the world’s second-fastest access to three vaccines? Not asshats.
Hear me out, there are all sorts of asshats. There are all sorts of reasons why people might be unvaccinated. "Unvaccinated asshats" is where these two intersect.

French President Emmanuel Macron has pushed through the vaccine passport to help stem the spread of Covid. The health passport has finally been implemented in France despite the country having just finished up its fourth weekend of protests against the idea. Vaccine skeptics believe that it’s infringing on their freedom, though the constitutional council upheld the legality of most of the new measures proposed by the French government.
Across the Atlantic, in the US, rightwing TV and radio host Dick Farrel died after getting coronavirus. The Guardian reports that Farrel was a big critic of Dr. Anthony Fauci (whom he called a “power-tripping lying freak”) and urged his listeners not to get vaccinated against Covid-19.

Load More Replies...It is true that vacines comes with a risk, but so does everything. There is a risk that you will be hit by a meteorite when going outside. Driving to work comes with a risk of being rammed by a stoned driver behind you, and even drinking liquids to stay hydrated comes with a risk of drowning. You cannot live a risk free life, and therefore what you need to do in order to live, is to make some proper risk management. Everytime you must choose between two options both of them comes with their own risk: Do some exercise and you risk spraining an ankle, don't do any exercise and you increase your risk of dying from a cardiac arrest. What is important is to get the proportions right, and regarding vaccines, the risk from getting the shot is far outweighted by the risk of getting the desease. Hence being vacinated is the smart thing to do.
Yeah, lets completely ignore the higher risks and greater side effects of the actual corona virus. You fear blood clots from the vaccine, congratulations blood clots are one of the main reasons of dying from COVID
But smart aleck comments aside, there are risks to taking vaccines. Some number of people have reactions to them and die. I just saw a pro-vax add that flat out said that almost everyone who gets the covid vaccine has a negative reaction. They went on to say that this usually just lasts for a couple of days and is very minor and so it's well worth the risk. Which is probably true. But saying that there are no side effects and no risk is blatantly false. When you have to tell lies to defend your position, maybe you need to rethink your position.
I haven't heard any scientific evidence to say that vaccines don't have any side effects, when you go to get a vaccine they hand you information with all the known side effects.

As much as we like to think that we’re all unique and that we’re facing unique problems, this isn’t really the case. History might not repeat itself, but it sure does rhyme a lot. Conspiracy theories have been around forever and Covid/mask/anti-vax ones are just the latest batch. However, currently, things are getting worse with the proliferation of various conspiracy theories.
Lee McIntyre, from Boston University, told Bored Panda during an earlier interview that conspiracy theories have been around since the time of Nero in the Roman Empire. “They pop up in times of turmoil or mass unrest when people try to make sense of the world, but can’t,” he said.

I am very concerned about the society in which there are people thinking reading a few articles equals to multiple years of hard work, education, research and lab work. Especially when most people don't have the knowledge and "tools" to interpret and understand correctly most scientific data
Anti-Vaxxers Are Truly The Peak Of Human Intelligence
The bubonic plague has NOT GONE AWAY. True, it only affects about 650 people each year, with a 10% mortality rate, but its something we still have in the world and there is no vaccine. You know what we DO have a vaccine for, AND has gone away? Smallpox. I wonder if there's a correlation...
Correlation is an awfully big word for an anti-vaxxer.
Load More Replies...The bubonic plague still exists, however we now have antibiotics to treat it if caught on time, and our hygiene practices have immensely improved compared to the middle ages, we have also stopped demonizing stray cats cause the church told us that they're instruments of the devil thus leading to a rapid rise of rat populations and infestations starting from Europe's commercial harbors and spreading through to the entire continent. It only had to take out half the population of Europe 2-3 times over the centuries, but we learned :p

And it did it more than once. Several times, in fact. And stopped burning cats and women as witches because the church told us to.

“They [conspiracy theories] have all grown in popularity because beliefs (even fringe beliefs) are reinforced by peer approval, and that is now readily available on the internet. Virtually all of the flat earthers I met were converted based on Youtube videos. Some then went to the conferences. After that, they were ‘down the rabbit hole,’” Lee explained that the internet and echo chambers help reinforce conspiracies like the Flat Earth theory and others.

I wish Flat Earth were the worst of them, but it isn’t. It’s the scourge of our age. And it will only continue to get worse,” the expert warned Bored Panda.
Anti-Vaxxer Logic
For some reason, some people don't understand the difference between something being effective and it being 100% effective. They seem to think that if there is even one case where something slipped through, it's the same as though the measure were 0% effective.
Not only that, they seem to misunderstand what the effectiveness of the vaccine is, and I blame the media for that. They assume vaccination = immunity. This is not so, as we managed to deduce from the fact that people that recovered from covid, caught it again. However, reducing by 80-92% serious illness and/or hospitalization is a win. Can you catch it? Sure, a bit harder than before, but you still can get infected. Is it more possible to survive it without ending up plugged into machines? The protection the vaccine provides is exactly that. Eventually, covid -since it got so out of hand everywhere - is going to turn into a seasonal flu-like illness. It will mutate to the point that it won't be as deadly, and we'll develop antivirals specifically for it, in addition to booster shots yearly depending on the most prevalent strain. If that means that less people will end up needing a hospital due to covid, and hospitals can get back to functioning properly, it's a win.
Load More Replies...Get the vaccine, still get covid, but *less severely*. Don't die. Don't spend weeks in ICU on vent, don't (if in USA) get a hospital bill for $1.5m, even with insurance. Don't spend the rest of your life with very expensive lung and heart damage. I would think that the obscene financial cost of healthcare in the US would be enough to convince people to get vaccinated.
The vaccine doesn't prevent you from getting COVID. It prevents you from dying from COVID. That's an important distinction. We should all still be masking up, washing hands, and social distancing, vaxxed or not, as we can all still catch and spread this disease.
Chaos&Roses The fact that something is not 100% effective does not mean that it is *ineffective*. Yes, fully vaccinated people have died from breakthrough covid infections. That’s how non-miracles work. You’re expecting miraculous results from human endeavors, thus ensuring that nothing will ever meet your expectations.

They may have gotten COVID, but it was a mild case that they got over very easily. Sorry to burst the anti-vaxxers’ bubble, but mRNA vaccinations do not inject you with any form of the virus. So it wasn’t the vaccine but infected and most likely unvaccinated people that passed the disease on to them—-probably before the vaccine had taken full effect. Most of all, let’s not forget that vaccinated people are NOT the ones filling up hospitals, using all the ventilators, and dying.
I know people who wore helmet while biking and still broke their skull. Lots of people actually do think helmets are a waste of time about a third of people don’t actually wear helmets went on motorcycles/bicycles it’s terrible
That anti-vaxx "arguement" is already worn out. The vaccines were designed to prevent severe illness, not necessarily infection.
Did they get both doses of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine, or just one? Were they very cautious until the vaccine reached full efficacy, or were they careless and needlessly exposed themselves to the virus? Did they die? Did they get terribly ill? Or did they just test positive and maybe get a little sick? Are they embarrassed to know someone as stupid as Raquel Rodriguez?

Many people with blond hair find that they get burned when they touch a hot surface. Many people who shop at discount stores get about two or three colds a year.
They could also be symptoms of some psychological issue.

I mean, yes. But the drugs pushed were OxyContin and Vicodin that kicked off a massive opiod epidemic. Maybe, just maybe, we shouldn't let pharmaceutical companies advertise directly to consumers and give doctors kickbacks when more prescribe their treatment. Maybe we should run medicine more like we're running vaccines and give people the meds they actually need, accurately and for free.
That's pretty much only a problem in the USA. Other countries don't allow the advertisement of prescription medication. So yes. We shouldn't let them advertise...which is why we don't let them advertise.

So you're saying all those kids in iron lungs 70 years ago were better off not being vaccinated. Many of them that survived were in wheel chairs or had leg braces the rest of their lives. 5% of all the children that came down with it died. And it was a vaccine that eradicated it. Quit spreading your homeopathic, essential oil BS and get vaccinated!!
The confusion comes from the English language - drugs as opioids and drugs as medication is the same word. It's not in other languages - we actually splurged a bit and invented two separate words for those
TBH, maybe that's what we need periodically, a plague to cull the herd.
We think The Epoch Times is a far-right international newspaper and media company that promotes far-right politicians in Europe, and has backed President Donald Trump in the U.S. so we don't read it. It’s not human DNA. It’s mRNA encoding viral proteins. We couldn’t develop antibodies against a viral spike protein if the vaccine didn’t encode viral protein.
Load More Replies......And guess what? You get a s**t load of COW DNA! right into your body each time you eat a steak.
From HopkinsMedicine.org: “ MYTH: The COVID-19 vaccine enters your cells and changes your DNA. FACT: The COVID-19 vaccines are designed to help your body’s immune system fight the coronavirus. The messenger RNA from two of the first types of COVID-19 vaccines does enter cells, but not the nucleus of the cells where DNA resides. The mRNA does its job to cause the cell to make protein to stimulate the immune system, and then it quickly breaks down — without affecting your DNA.” (Link: https://www.hopkinsmedicine.org/health/conditions-and-diseases/coronavirus/covid-19-vaccines-myth-versus-fact )
No, not DNA. It's mRNA, which is derived... OK, y'know what? This guy needs to know there's human DNA shared with fruit flies.
And pigs. Years ago they used to use pig valves for mitral valve replacement. Interesting they didn't need to take antirejection drugs. They were just fine with a pig valve in their heart!

4 Billion Dollars Paid Out For Vaccine Injuries?
3 people and $4 billion are completely different metrics for things with drastically different purposes and usage rates. It would be like if I said 3 babies were born and pet costumes are now a half billion dollar industry. I don't know what you're trying to say; your message does not compute.

Jaime is either stupid or just really bad at being disingenuous. That “over 4 billion dollars” is the cumulative total paid out over 30 years, from 1988 to 2018. According to hrsa.gov: “ Since 1988, over 24,264 petitions have been filed with the VICP [National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program]. Over that 30-year time period, 20,057 petitions have been adjudicated, with 8,223 of those determined to be compensable, while 11,834 were dismissed. Total compensation paid over the life of the program is approximately $4.6 billion.” (Link: https://www.hrsa.gov/sites/default/files/hrsa/vaccine-compensation/data/data-statistics-report.pdf )

Just wait until you have to deal with the Chicken Pox which they're likely to have together, Mumps on both sides ( and if your husband gets mumps you're not going to have any more kids to not vaccinate). And the joys of both kinds of measles, which if your kid has it and you don't know it yet because they're not sick and come in contact with a pregnant woman at a certain gestation, that child can be born with birth defects. You can pay the lifetime bills for them. Polio. Watch your kid become paralyzed maybe to the point of not being able to breath on their own. Speaking as one who when I was a child some of these vaccines didn't exist, mumps are very painful. You can barely swallow liquids. Chicken Pox are intolerably itchy, and the measles gave me a fever so high I had hallucinations that I still remember. And just remember when your kids are suffering, and I do mean suffering, which by the way children and even adults can die from the measles, it wil be on you.

OK, so I'm no expert but aren't babies born with a certain immunity and/or it's passed via breast milk? And that's why you don't have to vaccinate them at birth but when they're older? How many vaccines *should* her twins have had at 8 months?
