It's a very good question. Basically, deniers are ones who either have lots of money invested in fossil fuels (as well as their friends) or they are people who don't like the idea of not driving their petrol/ diesel-fuelled cars and leaving all their electrical appliances on.

Yup. Just like Anti Vaxxers should lose access to every single modern medical treatment because if big pharma is out to get you then all those life saving drugs they make are a lie to right?

Generally, people have their minds made up already and nothing anyone can say will change that. In fact, the harder you try to convince people that they're wrong the harder they'll cling to their beliefs. It has nothing to do with logic; it's strictly emotional. People are afraid to change their minds; that might mean admitting they were wrong, and it takes an open mind and courageous personality to do that. It's just so easy to remain blinded that it's pull is as strong as that of an addictive substance. Why should they make any effort to change their behavior? That requires work, and many are simply too lazy to do their small part. They want their Kool-Aid.

It's getting downvotes because you & Carol speak the truth which many fear: that human-induced global warming is causing more frequent extreme weather events. Whether it's a shift in the seasons, rain changing to hurricanes, or heat turning to drought, these extreme events will happen with more alarming frequency and greater strength. You're aware enough to have noticed a trend within your lifetimes already. I tip my hat to you both.

I agree Sivi. My city usually get horrendous amounts of rain during the spring and fall months. But usually in the form of regular thunder storms..not hurricanes. The weather in our part of the world is getting more vicious. Lots of wind and cold temperatures, but hardly any rain or moisture that we normally get this time of year. I'm worried about the wildlife that relies on rivers and lakes around here. They're going to have a hard summer.

This is your first fallacy: "Anyone who has an interest in either subject knows those are 2 very different things." Most laypeople use the two terms interchangeably, not understanding the distinction. To them, they are discussing a single phenomenon, and any distinction between two terms is not only lost on them but frequently irrelevant to their discussion. Unless you happen to be the insufferable pedant in the room. This is your second fallacy: "Global Warming has yet to have any substantial evidence". Deny the science all you like; your belief isn't required for it to be truth. Your argument is invalid.

@Jen so what statistical records to we have to show that instead of the planet slowly coming out of a minor ice age, the planet's temperatures are increasing so much that it is an irregular increase that supersedes a normal exit from an ice age? Because as far as I know, mankind hasn't been around long enough, nor have we been keeping records well enough to even see a complete cycle of an ice age to a green age... right now we are in an interglacial age.... which is the ONLY age that humans can sustain life. So tell me how the F**K do we have the data to prove global warming?
