Like the name suggests, this online community is dedicated to those spicy moments when people were oblivious to who they were talking to, and has collected quite a lot of them since its inception in 2015. I mean if you feel like you have your stomach in your throat it's hard to talk. That level of embarrassment can make words hard cause your brain locks up. Nice 👍 Once in college we had a project about mental health. We were a group of 5 people. Since we all lived far from each other we decided to do the project online. Using Skype and emails. One of the group members, the lazy one , decided to copy and paste something she found online. The rest of the group were unaware about that. On the due date our professor seemed pretty displeased with us. She said “ I believe you guys copied this essay from somewhere online. “ We denied the plagiarism. Then our professor reaches out into her bag and gets her paper, she even made sure she highlighted all the bits that were copied. It was our professor’s work. At a British University, a Professor sat with the students at dinner time and monopolised the conversation on any subject. They decided to do something and picked the most abstract thing they could find, read up on it and next dinner time, one started the conversation off and the rest followed. The professor said nothing and when they finished, they all looked at him with big smiles on their faces. The Professor then said: " I see you gave all read my article on so and so."
None of this addresses the core question: who was correct? You can be forgiven for assuming the author of a paper on a subject might be best qualified to implement decisions based on it, provided you have no actual experience of academia. Those inclined to assume that the professor named researched or wrote the published paper may wish to meet a few talented graduate students. (You'll have to buy a few rounds. Academia is designed not only to exploit such people but to enforce their silence by any means necessary.) ¶ In academia as in life, authority is a function of politics, not knowledge or talent. Hence the imminent extinction of our species.
It would have been more fun if you egged him on, gone back and forth a few times and then ask him who is the writer of the paper, he looks, says your name, will probably ask you why, and that's when you pull out your ID.
I had this happen recently, too. Dudebro decided to be patronizing to me about a specific author and subject, pointing out tiny semantic details that had no bearing on any argument, and then finally posting a link to a special on the author to "prove" I was wrong. I pointed out where the documentary filmmakers (who I knew by name) interviewed me b/c of my level of expertise on the subject for this very same documentary. Then he pivoted and claimed I was "arrogant," because manbabies like this simply can't handle that millions and millions of women are smarter than they are.
Ha ha - have had that happen often. Get told some 'thing' in my research field, comment with a slight clarification only to be told I need to research properly. When asked who to read, am told myself! Love it. Have even been offered paperwork which has been valued at some amount, ask them how they valued it given I wrote it for free!
If that were me I'd have polite fun with it and watch as his brain tried to catch up. "I'm sorry you misunderstood what I wrote but I'll go over it with you if you'd like."
What is wrong with this doctor who can't wait for someone to talk down to her about her specialist subject? Must be very low self confidence.

My literature teacher for 4th grade never called on me to answer questions. I was confused because I was the most advanced reader in that class. I talked to her after class one day, asking why she never called on me. She said “Sorry kiddo, but I think you would just confuse the other kids with how you pronounce words.” This was because I had a lisp back then and pronounced every word that had double o’s or just one o with an r.
I used to work at an airport, manager for the company that handled the restaurants. One Saturday my assistant manager and myself were inventory counting a Caribou Coffee and this sill looking skinny white guy walks up. Plaid short only the top button fastened, wife beater, baggy jeans, the ball cap with the razor straight bill and a lot of bling. I looked at said in a low voice ‘Look at this Vanilla Ice wanna be MFer’. Then a guy comes RUNNING across the terminal and is shaking homeboy’s hand and gushing over him. It WAS Vanilla Ice, who had played a show the night before. He was actually really cool too.

They (my friend's pronoun) was arbitrarily labelled as a 'white male' at birth, and they was trying to go to an event once, and the organizer said at the entrance: 'Sorry, this is only for black women.' So they replies: 'I IDENTIFY as a black woman!' You should have seen how surprised the organizer looked!
