30 Times People Encountered ‘Covidiots’ Who Think Covid-19 Is Nothing Serious And Decided To Shame Them Online
With more than 37 million Covid-19 cases globally, more than 1 million of which have been fatal, the global pandemic has changed our lives beyond recognition. And as we’re about to approach the second viral wave, everyone has become witness to the grim reality.
Except for the virus deniers who either see it as a conspiracy theory or think that it’s some kind of joke "simple" people, like you and me, fell for. It’s both scary and hard to wrap one's head around how ignorant some of us can be, and below are the most recent examples that have been surfing around on social media.
From Santa who can just as well bring a virus to your ho-ho-home, to fishnet face coverings that prioritize design over protection, it makes me wonder how many wake-up calls we're still gonna need.

Fake COVID-19 news creates a fictional bubble where people see themselves as being a part of conspiracy, a global hoax that is playing tricks on them. Worst, the collective distrust in obvious tragedy escalates the spread of misinformation further and people get tied to the never-ending flow of COVID-myths.
But separating truth from fiction in the times of pandemic can literally save lives. Thus, Bored Panda reached out to the Babylon Health doctor Claudia Pastides, who agreed to share some of the most common COVID-19 myths that have been flourishing online.

First, some people still believe that hand sanitizers don’t actually kill the virus. Claudia debunked the myth and explained: “Even though this is true for a few strains of viruses, like the norovirus that causes stomach bugs, it’s not the case with coronaviruses.”
She added that applying a hand sanitizer that contains at least sixty percent alcohol will surely kill the coronavirus.
The second common myth circulating online is that COVID-19 is a man-made virus. The truth is that the “virus that causes COVID-19 is a zoonotic virus. This means that it originated from an animal.”
Scientists believe that it probably jumped the species barrier and ended up in humans. But it was definitely not made in a laboratory, contrary to some beliefs.

Honestly, at this stage of the pandemic with so many deaths, I can't even get angry at these people anymore. It just makes me sad. Sad that their education failed them. Sad that, at some stage, they lost lost the ability to critically assess information on credibility. Sad that much of said misinformation came directly from the top of their government. Angry at said government.

I'm on the train for four and a half hours every single day with my mask on (big commute). Yeah it's hot and annoying and it sucks that I can't have a drink, but if there's even the slightest possibility to prevent even one person from getting this disease because of it, I'm happy to do it. Hell, I'd wear that thing to bed and in the shower if it'd help!

I know this really nice lady, she's into crystals and aurora stuff. I liked her even though I found her peculiar. She came into the library a couple of weeks ago and announced that she has a medical issue and can't wear a mask, so can she come in. I stuttered, cause I know very well she doesn't have one, but our policy/rules is that we ask each person to wear one, but we can't enforce it or withhold service. It's disheartening that a lady I quite liked is so stuck up and selfish. She can only think about her own comfort and doesn't care one iota about my health or literally anyone else around her. I had thought she was better than that. In retrospect, I should have called her out on it. But I am an introvert, so confrontation isn't exactly my strong suit.

Except for the vulnerable people who are at extreme risk, are they an acceptable casualty? I'm 33 with later stage copd/emphysema and yeah these fools are idiots, but when ppl talk of herd immunity it's distressing. When you know your survival odds are very low if you get infected and practically zero if it mutates this madness is just that bit more intimidating, herd immunity is a death sentence for me

The USA has the philosophy of "Freedom or death" Let them be the masters of their own fates. 8 Million infections and over 200K deaths prove this. USA will literally rather die, than have some of their freedoms taken away, to prevent further infections. There is no sympathy for a country that thinks in this way... Fine it's a loss-of-life, but it is their right to choose it. Bigotry, Race wars, Anti-science, flat-earth, Anti-vaxx...It's all USA problems, not ours. America is imploding socially. My friend needed a ride to the grocery store. I said yes if she would wear a mask around me because I have COPD. (She is a anti-masker) . She said she would. But the car she made fun of me for wearing a mask in the car and for asking her to wear a mask. After we went shopping and walking all around the grocery store, she got in the car and took off her mask. I now refuse to take her anywhere in my car again. She doesn't understand why.
