Yeah, he complains a bit that it's uncomfortable and he doesn't like it, but he wears it properly, every day. They're not afraid, they're stupid and just jumping on the over zealous civil liberties bandwagon. Now's their "time to shine" moment and are taking full advantage of thumbing their noses to government, specifically local and state. I see it as a form of bullying - they can actually get away with this behavior and that's because most reasonable, mask wearing citizens would rather move away from them than cause the all-out assault that usually proceeds any form of questioning or confronting of their messed up rationale. I don't get it either. Is the potential exposure that may potentially result in their own illness and/or death and the death of their loved ones worth it????? Is it really worth the risk even if the chance is small? I don't understand why they are so adamant to not wear one. Honestly, I'm against the zealous suing culture in the US but the families of people who got covid after being in contact with a no-masker should hardcore sue these people who do stuff like this.

I live in Michigan, where our governor's emergency orders have been overturned by the state supreme court, and even though the state health department has issued their own, similar orders (complete with fines for noncompliance), it's now like a free-for-all here. No one is enforcing the health department's mandate. Stores still have signs up requiring masks for entry, but no one is stopping those who enter without them, or people enter with them on and then take them off, or push them down below their chin when they're in the store. Some people still wear masks, but SO many are not - and if you even glance at them sideways, they're ready to fight - over a freaking mask. I am seeing so many people not wearing masks now, and we are having a sharp rise in cases again because of it. The winter is going to be really, really bad - we are not a warm weather state, so winters mean everyone staying inside more and in close proximity to each other. This isn't going to be good.

The photo is NOT the woman who spread it. This is one of the family members who got it due to the infected relative's lies and carelessness. That said, nobody in the family wore masks at the funeral and subsequent gatherings. Hopefully none died and they got a huge wakeup call.

HIPAA only applies to healthcare works. What she is referring to the security portion of the act. It doesn't apply to anyone else. I can ask about your medical conditions and not violate HIPAA. I can tell EVERYONE about your health conditions with out violating the act because I am not a healthcare worker. I keep waiting for someone to tell me this BS at my store or whip out one of those fake cards just so I can laugh in their face as I kick them out.

HIPAA does apply to people who may be reasonably expected to respond to an emergency medical incident. for example, security guards responding to a heart attack. In any case, they got the wrong act. the ADA does forbid people asking after disabilities- usually it comes up when trying to discern if a dog is a service dog or emotional support dog. (specifically, the only thing we're allowed to ask is, what task is the dog trained to perform.)

asthma, off the top of my head. Also, I've had more than a few of my employees report an increase in headaches caused by wearing a mask for 8 hours. I usually just buy them a stash of ibuprofen packets. (the individual dose kind.) personally, I feel like if I've been talking too much/moving around a lot, I start hyperventilating where I wouldn't before. that might be psychosomatic, though.

Exactly!! My geography teacher is in his sixties, susceptible to covid. Due to law and school rules everyone wears a solid mask over there mouth and nose, which protects him, an older man! When talking he is supposed to wear a clear face shield, but the way he angles it it comes down to the bottom of his nose, when he wears a mask he either uncovers his nose or leaves it on his chin!! We are protecting him from corona and he is more likely to get it, but he can not do the same for us, even though HE IS MORE LIKELY TO GET IT AND SPREAD IT TO US. I hate his class.

My daughter and son-in-law had a party for their daughter's first birthday in June. It was outside and they set up card tables and trays and stuff 6 feet apart and labeled for each family member/group. My husband and I had our own table. They also made it a rule that if we were any closer we had to have our masks on. Not this bullshit.

That's the purpose of vaccines- to teach your immune system how to destroy things. And the mortality rate is the percentage of people who contract the disease who die. If your health is genuinely bad enough that it would be harmful to wear a mask, then you need to seriously consider whether going out is more important than being safe. Subway is not essential. Getting a haircut is not essential. Nor is clothes shopping when it can be easily done online where you pose no risk to yourself or anyone else!

It's a real pita wearing a mask when you have a beard. I added an extra strap to my mask that goes under my chin and round the back of my neck to make sure the mask is kept tight to my face. It makes things a bit more awkward but I don't want to catch the virus or spread anything.

What does he use his money for? Food? Clothing? Shelter? NO!! He wastes it not only on a car, but an unnecessary car. Meanwhile I'm fighting my 2nd blood infection in less than 6 months (not COVID-related) and have to stop working as a nurse for AT LEAST the next 2 months (and maybe longer for surgery) HOPING I can get disability so my wife won't have to kill herself with overtime just to make ends meet (which is still very difficult). It is people like that that piss me off the most!!! We try to do everything honestly and WORK so I don't have to live on disability, which I very well could do due to the health issues I've fought since an infant, but no! I refuse to do that since my body works well enough despite the constant pain I endure. It is those entitled, self-righteous people that irritate me the most! They expect everyone else to work their butts off, and some even be denied much-NEEDED benefits so THEY can have a car to show off. People in this world make me so sick sometimes!

So what? If they stick the health and safety guidelines, then what's wrong with making fun of the situation? During WWII, while the Germans bombed London to rubble, folk their still made jokes about it - humour helps endure bad situations. People today can to way too sensitive.

I understand gallows humour, and often enjoy it. However, many people who have lost loved ones may not feel that way. I personally wouldn't be offended by this, despite losing my mother to covid, but I get that someone else might be.

I am a democrat living in the red armpit of an otherwise blue state. I really feel for the liberal kids in this school. Believe me, I truly understand, and have been subjected to some ignorant taunting myself—-though passive-aggressive, as it was at work. Voting a straight blue ticket, as always. When we win, I will be doing a bit of passive-aggressive taunting myself. However, as I am not ignorant, they won’t understand it, and might even think I’m being nice. Learned a long time ago how to tell someone to go to hell in such a way that they will be looking forward to the trip.

This is not a bad thing. This is a light hearted way to help kids be less frightened of something scary while helping them follow guidelines. Sometimes you need to find humour in awful situations to get through it. I have a story. When I was 19 one of my friends died of cancer. He was 20. And one of the nicest humans youd meet. He knew he was going to die and planned bits of his own funeral. The crem was so full people spilled outside. What did he plan for his funeral? South park songs. And it was so inappropriate. And so freaking funny. So instead 200 people were belly laughing through tears instead of just feeling awful. And it helped. I've never heard the term gallows humour before. But it's a good term!
