Public Split Over “Clean Girl”: Viral Grave Cleaning Sparks Controversy And Discussion

A woman has become an internet sensation as a result of her passion for hygiene. But most recently, the diligent woman went viral for her unconventional and upbeat approach to cleaning a neglected grave, sparking online controversy and scrutiny.

Known by her 1 million TikTok followers as “_the-clean_girl,” the influencer left her viewers particularly unsettled by her unusual speaking style, reminiscent of the automated voice on TikTok, which was seemingly inappropriately upbeat for a video of this nature.

The video in question, which has amassed 19.2 million views since being uploaded last month, saw the Clean Girl say: “I’m at the graveyard at night, cleaning this abandoned grave for free.”

The woman showcased herself in the clip, which she captioned, “I cleaned an abandoned grave at night,” tending to a neglected and unkempt grave with diligence while maintaining a positive attitude throughout the process.

She said: “I have so many questions in my head. What’s happened? How did this grave get so dirty?

“Who’s buried here? Her name’s Bienvenida. Wow, her name is welcome in Español.”

The Clean Girl continued: “Right now, this is the dirtiest grave I’ve ever seen. That’s so unfair. Everyone deserves a beautiful resting place.”

She later added: “I wonder what Bienvenida’s life was like.”

The bubbly woman, dressed in a pink outfit, noted that the deceased person was an Aries before happily exclaiming, “My best friend is an Aries.”

The upbeat influencer reflected on the neglected grave’s zodiac sign

In an unexpected and rather questionable turn, the Clean Girl asked, “Does she like chocolate cupcakes?” before filming herself taking a bite out of one that she had brought with her.

The woman’s nonchalant attitude regarding the very subject of her video prompted a lot of questions, including asking why she had brought a shovel with her to the cleaning.

“I don’t care about the shovel but to eat cupcakes so casually? did you wash your hands?” a person commented.

Another Tiktok user asked: “Why does she talk like that?”

An additional commentator penned: “There is absolutely nothing wrong with cleaning a neglected grave but the way she talks about this woman does not sit right with me at all.”

Despite graveyards becoming an integral part of the Clean Girl’s content on social media, the woman has also cleaned other questionable places.

You can watch some of The Clean Girl’s cleaning videos below:

Last month, the influencer filmed herself cleaning a McDonald’s restroom “for free.”

In the video, the Clean Girl exposed a less-than-pleasing toilet with ketchup (or so we hope) on the wall.

“I just want to make this toilet beautiful for everyone to enjoy,” the content creator explained as she scrubbed the public restroom to impeccable standards.

The Clean Girl’s grave cleaning video continued to fuel different reactions online

The article failed to mention that in addition to using harsh chemicals that could damage the monument, she actually PAINTED the grave! That is absolutely disrespectful to do to someone's final resting place to get clicks and views.

This is exactly it! The “article” (if we can really use that word) didn’t look at the biggest reason people have issues with this, which is of course using products that are actually harmful for the stones.

I don't have any issue with her cleaning things if thats what floats her boat. However, I do think she shouldn't be cleaning McDonalds and other fast food places. Those are private businesses not public spaces. If she really wanted to help people there are other places she could clean that would actually appreciate it. This is just attention seeking. Also, McDonalds should be ashamed if that was actually the state of the restrooms and it wasn't staged.

Idk on the restroom. When I worked at Arby's years ago it wasn't uncommon for the bathrooms to end up with c**p on the walls and toilet paper on the floors and everything after a lunch rush. It didn't take very long after being cleaned for it to get completely trashed. People (and their kids) can be gross. But I do agree, she shouldn't be sneaking into businesses and things for her videos.

I don't mind her cleaning gravestones, but do it properly - water, soft bristle brush and no hard scrubbing. Also, get permission from the cemetery office to do this. They will also tell you what you can and cannot use to clean a stone.

They are mostly either re-enforced concrete or solid granite or slate (marble for rich graves) for most graves between 1890-1970s , both of which aren’t too damaged by heavy cleaning by comparison of natural weathering from elements, everyone so emotional over this post and I’m guessing most people don’t even know material used for tombstones in older and now/modern times. It’s crazy, i mean, ‘IF’ she was scrubbing the same tombstones the same way daily, that’s an issue, but a once over isn’t going to hurt it. Slate disintegrates with water over time no matter what it’s used for, it is metamorphic. Granite is igneous, and these basic facts seem to bypass people. There’s a reason a lot of still standing monument around the world in history are made of granite

Sometimes he would clean an abandoned grave next to it too. Not with agressive stuff though and he didn't put it online. But who else is gonna do this? I don't think it's that bad. I've seen this video a few times. She even makes the shovel appear like it was moving on it's own. People in the comments were trying to look for apparitions, claiming they saw one. The grave is not very old. She did no research at all about the deceased person. She seems to have copied another grave cleaner I've seen, who does it much more respectfully and doesn't even show herself on camera, does the research and tells you about the deceased person's life, as much as she could find out. This girl...I don't know, she comes across more influencer than genuinely caring about cleaning graves. Also, how the heck is she in a shrubby area and not getting attacked by mosquitoes? I really hate her bathroom cleaning videos. No one was kicking her out nor was she going to get sued. No problem at all with people cleaning things that need cleaning (I secretly clean public loos after using them sometimes as a nice surprise for the next person and I clear up litter and dog mess outside my house). Huge concerns about someone filming themselves doing it, adding random asides for laughs and publishing online for attention. Seriously, this would interest a psychiatrist.

My only thing here is about the recording good things u do. I don't think it in itself is a bad thing like many people say. Recording it for attention i think is a bit weird but hey ur doing a good thing. Doing it could inspire others or just let someone see something good in a sea of negativity. So yes. In the UK there are some cemetries/graveyards when tombstone can not be cleaned. This is due to rare lichen growing on the stone.

That dirt was all incredibly loose and smeared. This woman staged this by first desecrating the grave, then cleaning it (referring to the grave shown in the pictures and described in the story, not the grave in the video) As for her voice, this is how most of us would sound on a radio spot without first being taught how to exaggerate our vocal infections. She just isn't trained in recorded voicework.

I’m going to take the completely opposite take than most: I love this. I don’t care if she did it for attention - she also brought attention to a person who used to be here just like all of us. I don’t really care if she uses the wrong product since it’s not like she’s going back and doing this regularly. I also don’t care that she didn’t ask the family or the cemetery for permission since obviously if they cared that much they’d be maintaining it themselves. For the length of a TikTok video, she brought this person back to life, and did a nice thing by giving some love to their permanent resting place. Some folks need to stop being so judgy and take a nice thing for what it is. She left it looking better than it was - better than it has probably been for a long time.

Then let's call it a *restoration*. Like people get paid to do to centuries old paintings, monuments, statues, carvings, etc., most of which have actually been taken care of for those centuries. This girl is doing it for free, to monuments, carvings, statues, that have been abandoned and totally neglected for centuries. It's actually almost miraculous that she's able to restore them that well, seeing as nature is the most destructive force available while all she's armed with just some Mr Clean and a bit of bleaching foam. If a family is offended by and objects to the restoration of the grave of a "beloved family member", then why haven't *they* done it themselves, instead of letting it rot and decay away just like the "beloved family member" under it? Hypocrisy is always ugly no matter the topic. And frankly, I'd personally pay an hour's wage to any McD/fast food employee to *truly* clean their restrooms, so they need to shuddap and say thanks.

Oi, this is a YT comment section of the worst and dumbest kind. Actual FACTS: 1. It is trademark, registered mark, and sometimes copyright infringement to show *brands* on video/tv/movies without permission or payment (ex: why Cheerios are called anything but, on screen 99% of the time.*duh*) 2. Pink is THE IN color for girls for @100 yrs in USA (well b4 the Barbie movie), even Wikipedia has that info correct. 3. Anyone on this planet can dress however they like (assuming it won't mean their death), whenever they like, and their choices are NONE of your bizness. 4. To repeat, louder, for those in the back: NO STONE ON THE PLANET LASTS (or can last) FOREVER, AND *NATURE* IS THE MOST DESTRUCTIVE FORCE IN THE UNIVERSE. PERIOD.

I Would tell her since she cleaned it, then she has to keep doing it, To keep it at that same state with up keeping {we know its ruined its gonna be much much harder with upkeeping now, even costing more money}, and if she doe not, Then she has to pay for ALL of it, and A brand new stone, The fact its been over 25 years and my grand mother had 10 kids with full large families and STILL HAS NO HEADSTONE, This just pisses me off, like what if she did it to the tiny lil face plate she has!

She’s adorable! It’s funny how BP didn’t include the link to Bienvineda’s grave before everyone rushed to judgment. I bet Bienvineda would get a kick out of it and enjoy the friendship vibe rather than just constant sadness decades after her death. “Be miserable and somber while you do something good or you’re a piece of s**t!” - that’s how people are acting. Also the fact that she’s cute and fit rather than frumpy and ugly is playing into it HARD. BP users are truly miserable people tbh.

Graves are for the living not the dead. No one who died can actually care.

So I appreciate a good moss covered grave. It's not always uncared for. It shows age and the passage of time. If somebody did this to my loved one I'd be neutral.

This is such an insincere mentality. “It’s fine until the camera comes out!” That’s so disingenuous.

My only thing here is about the recording good things u do. I don't think it in itself is a bad thing like many people say. Recording it for attention i think is a bit weird but hey ur doing a good thing. Doing it could inspire others or just let someone see something good in a sea of negativity. So yes. Feel free to broadcast the positive as well as the negative

As of the comments I read she uses products bad for the environment/ stone graves? And then paints the grave? Don't know what paint, but sounds just like breaking social barriers doing this, and not I a good way?
