This Paralyzed Dog Dragged Her Legs For Miles Hoping Someone Would Help Her
Meet Poppy, a young doggie who got her spine crushed as a puppy and became paralyzed in her back legs. No one knows how this happened, but for the next weeks, or even months, she dealt with this on her own before dragging herself for miles to find someone to help her…
The people who spotted her were shocked when they saw her slowly and painfully approaching them. One of those folks was Susanne Vogel who works at an elephant research camp in the northern Okavango region of Botswana. “She came crawling — literally crawling,” Vogel told The Dodo. “The camp is in a remote region, filled with elephants, but also lions, hyenas and other predators,” Vogel added. “Poppy had somehow made it to us.”
They took her to the vet where they heard that Poppy needs a serious and risky spine surgery. Now Poppy is getting stronger every day, getting ready to face the operation.
“She already has so many people all over the world who… are eager to see a happy outcome, namely adoption into a loving family,” said Amanda Stronza, Voguel’s colleague, told Bored Panda. “She will regain her ability to walk, or she will gain wheels to help her around.”

I love this. My dog, luke, was a rescue dog found in the middle of the street as a puppy by my father, and he had a broken leg. Good luck Poppy!
What a beautiful dog. :) I'm confused though, her back seems to have been shaven in the video clip. Does this mean she has already had the surgery ?? I hope the little lady gets all the love and care she rightfully deserves...
What a beautiful and brave little soul,I hope she gets her own loving forever home. :(
That's so sad! It's a miracle she survived and I'm definitely happy she did. That little doggie deserved to survive, it's pretty obvious.
She needs to be walked withnot just the neck collar but a wider one just in front of back legs around body to support her weight.
Noel Fitzpatrick in the UK is doing wonders with this sort of thing. He is on TV all the time as Supervet.
my dog has an elongated spine and 5 years ago lost the ability to walk, at first the vet wanted to put him down, but i said no, i spent a week and made wheels, i also got hold of a jute carrier bag, slit the sides and folded each side in and stitched it i was then able to put this under my dog george and use the handles to support him for toilets, i massaged his back legs too and after 8 weeks he started to feel in his back legs, after 4 months he was walking again, five years on he walks , not very good but he walks like a seal, the point is he is here and happy. three years ago the same thing happened to my mums dog. the vet told her the same thing. i told her what i did and she did that and the same thing happened. she started walking again. my mum had another two years with bonnie instead of no years with her dog. poppy looks like a lovely dog and she has the puppy dog eyes to prove it. what a superstar, i wish her all the love and happiness there is
