The National Geographic has always been a showcase for the world's most evocative photography, and its prestigious annual photography contests never fail to attract the most talented professional photographers from around the globe.

The 2016 Travel Photographer Of The Year Competition is no exception, and as you can see from the selection of stunning pictures below, this year's judges have no easy task in choosing the best photos from these amazing entries.

The Grand Prize on offer is a 7-day Polar Bear Safari for two (including airfare) at Churchill Wild-Seal River Heritage Lodge in Manitoba, Canada. But the real prize of the photo contest is simply being named National Geographic's Travel Photographer of the Year. The travel photography competition ends on May 27 so you've still got time to enter. So what are you waiting for? Grab your camera and go snap some beautiful photos!

Guizhou Province is a good place to experience ethnic cultures and customs; there are many ethnic villages inKaili and Southeast Guizhou. There are five notable rice terrace areas in Guizhou, and the most famous one is the Jiabang Rice Terraces in Southeast Guizhou. Scenery: In Jiabang, the picturesque natural scenery of rice terraces is combined with the quaint wooden Miao houses. The Jiabang Rice Terraces were cut from the hilly terrain in hundreds of layers. Best times to go: You can appreciate mirror-like terraces in spring, verdant terraces in summer, and gold terraces in autumn. The wet weather gifts Jiabang Rice Terraces mysterious scenery with cloud and mist almost every early morning. Getting there: The Jiabang Rice Terraces are about 80 kilometers (50 miles) from Congjiang Town (从江县城), and Congjiang Town is about 257 kilometers (160 miles) from Kaili. You can now take a bullet train to Congjiang. If you plan to have an in-depth tour of Kaili to visit the ethnic villages, you

In a art history class the teacher said that the artists on the romanticism era were looking for the blue rose or blue flower (I don't remember well), in a sense of something that's not real, a fantasy. It seems that there are blue flowers after all! :)

Sadly, in the Omo Valley of Ethiopia, these photos can be achieved daily as the local tribes charge you for photographing them and make themselves up quite outlandishly each day to grab the most tourist attention and thereby garner the most money.

5th Generation SF - now retired and living in a more affordable place. When visitors came, we always took them down Lombard. There are steeper, scarier streets - Filmore. The hills become routine; a stick shift gives you control; have fun. Go to Upper Market and Castro - that is where the lovely "painted ladies" are. SF is a jewel nestled against a Bay - temperate climate, views and lovely neighborhoods.
