Any form of abstract art is welcome. You can use a computer, draw it on paper, paint it, create it with beads or painted macaroni noodles, whatever you want, as long as it is abstract.

Hannoverian Stripes - Brushes And Sprayed, 30x40 Cm (12"X16")
I really love this. It's reminiscent of the paintings of Jasper Johns, but with a more aesthetically appealing palette.
Thanks! I must admit, I hadn't heard of his name until now, but a quick image search has shown me that picture of several US flags, small atop the next larger atop the next larger etc - that one, I've definitely seen before, and I think ... he really has something to him and his style. Not that I'd wanna copy him or any, but ... but I see that, with a bit more practice and routine, our art may be considered related ... not like twins, but like cousins or so. Oh my, I really gotta take more photos of my stuff. Also, I'm running out of walls to hang stuff.
Load More Replies...I like this very much! Haha, but I googled "Hannoversche Streifen" and all I found was Blühstreifen, Fahrradstreifen, Streifen am Himmel and Hannoversche Kompressionshängung. :-) I'm Norddeutsche, too, so I thought I missed something. Is it just a fantasy title or did I really miss something?
You didn't miss any. I named it that, because "Karostreifen" and "Wechselstreifen" don't sound that cool. Chequered Stripes, to which "Karostreifen" translates, sounds pretty cool, but ... well, I love my hometown and thought ... I may not have invented that in a sense of totality, but kind of, sure so, so I feel entitled to pick a name. Anyway - thank you very much!
Load More Replies...Very cool! What media was used. Also, did you use masking tape or a stencil?
Hi! I used masking tape, first covered it completely, gapless parallel, and then drew the dividig lines. Cut along them, corrected a bit here and there, and then, proceeded with layer two (cream/red, sprayed). The first layer is painted with standard brushes, around 1//2" or so in size. Rhw colours were mixed prior to applying them, but sometimes, I let that happpem during application. Anyway - thanks!

Oh my gosh! The concentric shapes and colors remind me of my own work. I've never thought to bring pieces forward into 3-dimensionality.
Acrylic Poured On Canvas
That really gets me interested in how you were making it, Lori! In case you read this ... would you care to, briefly, explain how you'd made this? I love it! It's so ... so ... unsettling. Chaotic, but obviously, it was, sort of, guided chaos ... different means of guided chaos, I love to use on any of the checkerstripe painting that has not only plain, or smoothly transitioning, colours.
All That Jazz
All That Jazz, excellent title. You can see the balance, yet feel the tension of the circles on the bars.
Lilac Licks..... Drawn By Myself
This makes me smile. My favorite colors, in swirls and waves. The blurred background gives balance.
‘Moving Checkerboard With Orange And Blue’ - A Modern Take On ‘Opart’
I love the color combo and how the brush strokes follow the lines. There is so much movement.
Thank you!! I'm so glad people notice the movement I was going for!!!!

This is lovely. It reminds me of the illustrations of the card people in Alison in Wonderland. The shading and blending are well done.
Glass Beads
Gouache And Acrylic On Canvas Board
I wana agree Broncodelia here - this looks ... it's the kind of picture I look at and it makes my mind take a long walk among itself (that, kind of, is what I'm aiming at when painting). This gets me thinking ... about blood vessels, structures of rocks, and that is surprisingly isn't that obvious, at least to me until today, what a nice contrasting match these are! Thank you for sharing!
Amazing - first I see a flower then a creature giving me the eye. The colored gouache gives this depth, maybe even an other dimesion.
“Float” 4” By 6” Very Mystical Piece, It Felt Like I Painted It From The Inside!
Thank you! I didn't know I could paint until I took a class in 2013. Started in acrylics but work in all kinds of mediums now. I don't work with a image in mind. It more organic and intuitive. I basically pick the substrate, color palette and bless the project!! I paint to mood, music, thoughts anything can trigger a session. I continue to take classes because there are so many new processes and products!! So check your community art galleries for classes and inspiration. Go to art supply websites for new products. For me an offshoot of painting was jewelry making. I work in beading, wire and metals. I took classes of course but it was just another vein of creativity! If you think you might want to "do that" then take a class!!! I insist!! :)
Kinda reminds me of one I did (it was a present for a friend, she specified colors, and that was that): Mnemaleri-...04dbd1.png
Dann, that is a mystical and beautiful piece too!
Load More Replies...This is a wonderful piece. It doesn't look like senseless blotches of colour (a common criticism of mine for abstract art—those pieces don't effect me the same). Every stroke here comes together beautifully to evoke a feeling I can't quite place, something I'm always excited to find. You have the artists touch!
THAT really is just 4" by 6"? - I'm a bit stunned here, I'd have expected it to at least be twice that large! Anyway - I like, the colours flowing into each other, or having a precise border between ... definately showing taste and talent!
LOL, DC it was a typo, the piece is 4 ft by 6 ft.

Beautiful! What are the dimensions? Balancing the bright colors with the blues toptand bottom works well. I love that there are three different quilt stitch patterns used.
Thank you! It's 26 by 26 inches (66 by 66 cm)

I Know It's Not That Great, But I Made It With Alcohol Markers. It Kind Of Reminds Me Of A Mountain Landscape With A Lake And A Sunset
never disparage your art!! It's and insult to the artist and the people who get the message!! BTW, Live the layers of colored sand on the beach!! That's what I see! :)
"It didn't start off abstract, but those alcohol markers started making me woozy." (This silliness is in no way intended to disparage in any way the art.)
That's beautiful. I also see a mountain landscape with a glorious sunset over a lake. I started using alcohol markers (double-tipped) about 18 months ago. I love them!

“S**t I’m Stuck With” Digital Art With Procreate Acrylic Brushes
This one is digital and took about 20 minutes. I am prolific and once I start a piece I'm not always aware of time. Only the large pieces 4ft by 6 ft take longer because I have more things to take into account. like medium, drying time, studio conditions, etc. Digital creative process may vary because the brushes are so intricate and offer just as many options for your piece.

I just gotta know something... How do artists who paint take what they see/feel in their head/heart and then know how to put it on canvas??? I started painting last year and I still can't figure it out. So if anyone has any ideas, please let me know!!

Hannovarian Stripes #3 - This Time, They're Made Differently (See Comment)
I like these less accurate ones even more! (My favourite is the one in the bottom left corner.)
Moin! Yes, that was part of the point of it. I love the sharp and straight division lines in those made with masking tape, I really love how the precise border looks on the structure ofthe farbric ... with these, the approach was ... well, aiming for less accuracy, for gaps and crinkles in the printed areas, the lack of precision... Thank you very much!
Load More Replies...These are made differently - they're not on stretched canvas, but on flat (painting board), using a printing-template (you see the same pattern, but different parts of it). A set of these, on 10x10 cm, with a bottom layer of foam underneath, are just about to be deivered to a friend as a set of coasters. Maybe I didn't forget to take a photo this time, I'll have a look later today. Clear paint to protect the imagery, foam to protect the table. Printing template - foam-rubber glued on a wooden plate, paint applied with a foam roller, colour transfer by holding in place and a few punches with a non-bouncing hammer that is, usually, used to bend sheet metal. It's head is filled with sand to counter the recoil. These are all 13x18 cm, using two printing templates.
