I don't get it. Why are so many new parents today acting like they invented parenthood? Parents have been sleep deprived for millions of years, get over yourselves, people.
It's more about the fact that there's so much parent shaming about different ways to raise your kids that more parents are posting about the actual struggles of parenthood instead of acting like everything is picture perfect.
Actual struggles? Every single parent out there knows how much it sucks to be a parent when the kids won't sleep. What I don't get is the constant need for attention. I could understand if your situation was unique, but this is literally what every parent ever has gone through
I know I only touched on the first part of your comment but you said the last part better than I could have :-)
hell just look at the comments about co-sleeping further down...
AMEN!!!!! And Hayley you are absolutely right... now... I don't have children (so most people are going to disregard my opinion right now) but I have spent time babysitting and taking care of children and I've seen first hand the parent on parent crimes that occur from people who thought the kids I was watching were my own. Everything from "your daughter is too young to have her hair dyed" to "don't let your kid eat peanuts in public" has been said to me and most of it has been in really catty, almost degrading ways...how about as parents you all stick together and stop shaming each other because someone else is raising THEIR child in a way you wouldn't raise yours!
No fucking shit. And while they are at it quit belly-aching about toddlers like no ones ever seen them before. Concept: making an online career out if motherhoid does not mean you are the creator of incisive, genius content.
She's not.... she's just making a blog about what it's like, and obviously tens of thousands of people like her blog and it's getting traction. I think you need to get over your issue with this, people :P
Besides, "honesty" and "social influencer" do not go together at all, even if this video should be authentic.
I can make the same video with some cats. The trick is not to let them into your bedroom.
Sudden Infant Death Syndrome. Secondly when your 2 year old is having nightmares or anything you can't ignore any of it.
well having a young baby sleep in bed with you is a bad idea.
co-sleeping as their proponents and opponents and is a personal decision. It is not neccesarily a bad idea, but ensuring that you are well rested enough to be a good parent at the next day surely is a strong argument.
It's not a bad idea. It's actually gives the protection to the child. There is a reason hugging decrease stress levels nd immediately after birth skin to skin contact is advised. It's keeping the children away, is what is abnormal and wrong.
somewhere between the late 1800s when we discovered germs and the industrial era when we had much bigger houses was when it started to become fashionable to have babies in another room altogether. as if thousands of years of parenting was actually wrong.... my other calls this attachment parenting "new age" and i laughed at her
Skin to skin is absolutely wonderful, but it's not meant as an overnight thing...we were told by the hospital during feeding, and also for sessions of about an hour each time.

Is that why babies are dying in Milwaukee? It’s a serious problem there, because the simple fact is that the problem there is proof that you DON’T necessarily wake up.
I have my kid sleep in my bed occasionally. Love it. I don't see how it's a bad idea. It's good for bonding. Pretty sure back in cave man days you wouldn't have your baby sleep in a separate cave.
co-sleeping while exclusively breastfeeding is actually a very good idea. you should look into it if you have such a strong opinion on the matter.
Don't know why people think this is a myth. These are just the ones from recent memory. I wasn't paying attention before I had my little one. There are ways/devices to cosleep safely, but not everyone does so. Our friend in Germany says her best purchase was a cosleeper that attaches to the side of the bed, but those aren't available in Canada. It's not always about "crushing" a baby, but more an asphyxiation concern. One time my husband fell asleep while watching her, he moved and the comforter ended up covering her (and muffling her cries). Luckily I came in and tore him a new one... http://abc13.com/police-baby-smothered-when-brother-climbed-into-crib/2747115/ http://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-40894967 https://www.ctvnews.ca/health/baby-s-death-tied-to-unsafe-sleep-situation-prompts-call-for-warning-1.3807032
You can get them in Canada. Check amazon.ca.
She's NOT sleeping LOL
Sometimes it's ok if they are sick and need close monitoring.
yeah...sleeping with a baby <1 year old increases their risk for sudden infant death (SIDs). It's the number one cause of infant deaths before age 1. So yeah bad idea, not a myth
Actually - no. You are wrong. Sleeping with baby (< 1 year old) WHILE drinking alcohol/smoking/few other dangerous things it's what increases risk for SIDs. Not sleeping wiht parent itself.
well all these PRO shared sleeping answers may patly explain the spoiled nature of the younger generations nowadays
Agree...kids need to learn to self-soothe at bedtime. Took some patience at first, but my kids sleep like logs now. Go to their room if they need attention, but once you bring them to your room, it's all over.
Dear you are so right. Children should not sleep with the parents. It's dangerous if one the parent rolls over the baby or small child.
This actually is a myth. Rolling over or suffocating only happens to intoxicated parents, as has been made clear by extensive research. How do you think humans before the age of civilization sleps? We share their genes, and these genes make us protective – even in our sleeps.
