Woman Gave Birth To Black And White Twins, Thought She Was Handed The Wrong Baby
InterviewWhen you think you’ve seen it all, Mother Nature surprises you. Today, we want to share a story about an unexpected gift that Judith Nwokocha, a Nigerian-born photographer from Calgary, Canada, received from the universe.
In 2016 Judith gave birth to twins that had different skin colors. The woman was astonished when she first saw her newborns, a brown baby boy, Kamsi, and an albino baby girl, Kachi. The duo, after their mom shared their pics on social media, immediately became a sensation and went viral on the Internet.

The woman was confused when she first met her little boy, Kamsi, who was brown, and her girl Kachi, who was later diagnosed with albinism

Judith told Bored Panda that the first time seeing the newborns, she wasn’t surprised because she thought it was a mistake. “I thought I was given the wrong baby. I was waiting for them to correct a mistake and hand me my brown baby girl but all I heard was congratulations and nothing more.”
“Gradually, it dawned on me that she was my baby. And I could only wonder why. There was a moment of confusion but that soon melted away when I carried her. It was pure love for both of them when the nurses laid them on my chest.”

“As days rolled into weeks, I began to wonder how society will see them. In Africa, albinos are bullied and not treated kindly so I got worried”

The mother was worried to see how society would treat her twins at first. “Thankfully, we live in a more civilized country and even though people are surprised when they find out they’re twins, there’s been so much kindness and admiration. My daughter has been bullied a few times but the love they’ve received is far greater. I constantly remind her how beautiful and unique she is so she doesn’t feel different.”

“Of course, they receive so much attention due to their uniqueness but they’re just like other regular kids”

“They’re best of friends and very protective of each other. They often ask me why they’re different and I tell them God made them different because He chose to.”
“My son Kamsi is very protective of his sister. They’re best friends even in school. Their teacher says they’re always together in school which is a little concerning to me because I’ll prefer to make other friends. Kamsi is a bit on the quiet side while Kachi is more outgoing.”

“When I had them, I prayed for my daughter’s color to change to brown. Today, I wouldn’t have her different for a million dollars. Albinism is beautiful”

Share on FacebookBeautiful little thing. I am glad they are in an area where she can be safe from superstitious harm regarding her albinism. I have read some horror stories about how many are treated in certain parts of many African countries. Glad both are happy, healthy and protected. Bless them.
Yes its terrible, poor albino kids. It shows that all human groups will treat others badly if they look different. Sad
Load More Replies...I don't like the title of this post. Black and white are concepts that go beyond just pure skin colour. She was given two black children, one of them an albino. The child has white skin, but she is not a white person. It's an important distinction as we work to recognize and honour the identities of all people of colour, even those who don't look how we expect them to. They are absolutely gorgeous children.
i have a serious question. would the baby girl not also be considered black? she seems to have the other features associated with that race, so is she just a black child with albinism, not a white child?
Though she lacks pigment(melanin), she's a little black girl.
Load More Replies...Cute kids, but it's pretty offensive to describe that baby as White. That is a Black baby with albinism. She is not White. She does not have European genetics. She has African, Nigerian genetics. She is Black. A person's race is defined by a lot more than their skin color.
Again, the argument against race wins. We look different because of Variation in Species. Two cats from the same litter often look quite different.
To be fair cats and dogs often have pups frim different fathers so that increases the chances of being different. Humans can theoretically do that too but its very rare.

Lovely children! I have a cousin whose daughter is albino. Her mother is biracial (black and white) and father is Puerto Rican. She is such a unique beauty. But it was hard at first--people assumed her parents weren't her parents. Fortunately for them, once people are informed, they appreciate how rare and special she is. I hope this will be OP's experience, too.
Two beautiful children who love each other. Wise mom to understand how fortunate she is.
In the way it was used here there most certainly is. Being handed a strangers baby is literally being handed the wrong baby. It's not saying the baby is bad it's just not the right child. If you grab the wrong stroller with a child in it then you have the wrong child.

They are really cute! Also aside from lip shape and hair/skin color they are almost identical(duh), They have the same eye shape, nose and face
The kids look fantastic together, I hope that you tell them (soon) that it's wasn't God who chose their skin colour though, because they'll inevitably have different experiences going through life and this isn't because of "god".
Cool! We had a pic in our biology textbook (early to mid nineties ... used it in class from 1993 to 1995, but it already had a few people running through it), with the line "Albinismus bei einem Negermädchen" below it (= "Albinism in a negro girl"). Today, this book wouldn't last ... it also had nude photographies of a boy and a girl, so, given the age we were then (10 to 12), it caused a lot of laughter from the unknowing...
They are both beautiful human beings. We were all assigned colors at birth years ago and we are stuck with those same assignments. You are your genetics, no more and no less. People tend to believe the negative in things and they will forever miss the beauty in everything.
I once saw a black-and-albino twin set at a supermarket, they were toddlers. My then-preschooler noticed too, and I admit we both stared a little. Sorry, dad of b&w twins! It did dawn on me real soon that the white child was an albino twin, because the two looked so much alike. But it was a good opportunity to talk to my preschooler about more than one topic!
They are cute. Why would the author feel the need to discredit Judith in the opening paragraph by saying "Mother Nature surprises you" and credits to this gift "from the universe" when Judith credits God "They often ask me why they’re different and I tell them God made them different because He chose to." Glory be to God!
No questioning your (lack of ) intelligence and sense of "humor".
Load More Replies...nope! Just a mutation in skin color, making someone skin lighter and hair lighter, sometimes even their eyes :) nope, not racist
