It's an effort to keep cable alive. There is a reason why all the movie channels have apps now. The writing is on the wall. I work for a cable company and the subscription tv service crosses the line into costing us more than it makes us last year. We only continue to offer it because we will probably lose a bunch of bundle customers when we drop it. All those rate hikes people love to hate, that's not us. That's the networks raising their chariage fees. My company which is one of the 5 largest in the US is probably 1 more rate hike away from dropping TV service. The networks priced out our profits on TV a few years back and now each rate hike is actually costing us money. It's a sinking ship and the networks are just trying to squeeze out the last few dollars before it disappears.

50 “Massive” Scams That “Everyone Buys Into”, According To These Internet Users For-profit healthcare.

Fun fact: American healthcare insurance used to be almost 100% non-profit.... legally. Then President Reagan asked by "non-profit" organizations were making so much money, so he stripped the non-profit status away from the most egregious, and the "for-profit" healthcare organization was first formed. When Hillary and Bill Clinton were railing against the obscene profits of insurance companies, most were still non-profit. But when Hillary, initially unsuccessfully, and then Obama, successfully, rebuilt America's healthcare system, they turned exclusively to the for-profits to write the laws. And the profit-taking of the U.S. healthcare system exploded.

America's per-capita spending on healthcare surpasses most (maybe even all) other Westernized nations, even those with socialized healthcare (e.g. Canada, Australia, Britain, France, etc.). This is despite many people saying socialized healthcare is 'too expensive'. The reason why American spends way more money for less access is because most of the money goes towards the layers of bureaucracy (especially insurance companies) that manage people's ability to access the healthcare. Oh, and lobbying politicians to protect that system. It's financial foolishness.

My friend is a nurse. She got a job about a year ago in a hospital after she finished school. The hospital actually sends nurses home if there are too few patients! She has anywhere from 6-9 patience in her 12 hour shift to take care of. If the number falls below 6, the hospital starts to cut hours! That is ridiculous! She is already ready to leave that job! And they can't find enough nurses. Ridiculous!

All supplements are a gamble, really. Pretty much none of the stuff you buy in a GNC or similar store has been tested or approved by anyone. It might have none of the advertised ingredient, a whole bunch of stuff that isn't on the bottle, or be dangerously contaminated, but as a 'supplement,' there has to be proof that it's actually dangerous before the FDA can do anything.

While I don't subscribe to the notion that detox teas will work, there are some teas that do help to remove toxicity from your body. Some teas do include antioxidants, which are beneficial. Coffee can have benefits as well. But It mostly comes down to the fact that they are both diuretic, and make you pee more.

ScamWatch, run by the Australian Government, warns people that scams are usually presented as amazing opportunities either to make or save money. They’re often portrayed as being extremely time-sensitive.

Meanwhile, you should be suspicious if someone you have never met suddenly asks you for your help. You should always be wary of any emails or text messages that have suspicious-looking links or attachments. And your alarm bells should be ringing if you’re asked to pay in unusual or extremely specific ways or you’re asked to set up any new accounts.

The best approach if you notice any red flags is to never give out any personal details or transfer any money. You should either hang up the phone or delete the spammy emails or messages. If the scammers are pretending to be a trusted organization or institution, you can always get in touch with them via their official contacts to double-check any suspicious-sounding requests.

I've heard the story about Hubbard betting other SF writers for decades. And it's almost always a different writer. This is the first time I've heard Sagan, which isn't surprising. In the early 50s he was in college in Chicago, while Hubbard was in California, failing at Dianetics and starting up Scientology. Unlikely they ever met before then. Writers like Heinlein, Asimov, and Pohl are much more likely to be there. Also, Battlefield Earth is a legendarily bad movie.

I have a question, because it’s been years since I went to loads of huge concerts and shows. Can you still buy tickets directly at the box office in advance of the show? In other words, if you live in the same area as the venue, and you go there to buy tickets once the event is announced. Or does Ticketmaster automatically buy every single ticket so you can’t do that anymore? Also, what about season ticket holders, or does Ticketmaster make that an obsolete concept? Can the venues refuse to sell any tickets to Ticketmaster, or sell large blocks of tickets to anyone, or are they held hostage under unbreakable contracts, or otherwise forced to sell to Ticketmaster?

Everybody can fall prey to scams, no matter how educated they might be. Everyone can find themselves distracted and in a situation where they lack self-awareness. However, the more physically, socially, and financially vulnerable someone is, the more likely they are to be targeted by crooks.

However, this doesn’t mean that we can’t fight back against potential scams. Knowledge really is power. The more up-to-date we are about new types of scams, the more we can keep ourselves and our loved ones safe. Although, it’s a constant battle with no end in sight. For every scam you learn to avoid, new ones will pop up to take its place.

But seriously for anyone out there who still believe crystals have a vibration and give off energy: crystals only vibrate when a voltage is applied to them, like the quartz crystal in a mechanical watch. They can give off electrical energy if put under pressure. That is call the piezo effect. But just sitting on a shelf in your bedroom they aren't doing s**t.

A very important rule of thumb when it comes to protecting yourself and your funds is to listen to your gut. When we’re in tune with our instincts, we can tell when something’s off. Broadly speaking, if something sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

For example, if you get a very tempting offer that promises you great riches for doing next to nothing, then it’s very likely that someone’s trying to scam you. Nobody gives away free money… (unless you bought a very lucky lottery ticket or you inherited something, but those situations are super rare).

This is why I got a piece of art as my ‘engagement ring’. It’s now worth at least 4x more instead of the approx 4x less a diamond ring would now be worth. No future bride nowadays want a secondhand ring.

Diamonds unless extremely unique were never desired even amongst royalty for a very long time. It wasn’t until marketing n the 1930s ish and DeBeers diamonds are forever nonsense along with them vaulting 75% of the worlds diamonds made them even a desired item. Diamonds are much more common than people think. There are also many more crystals that are far superior in appearance like Alexandrite, Faceted Rutile, rare sapphires etc.

Beyond the diamond hype, if you are going to bedeck your beloved in them, ignore the stupid convention some places that diamonds are only worn at night. Why? The sun glinting through them is what makes them beautiful.

Slow down. Sit down. Ask yourself some basic, common sense questions about the offer. And then, get in touch with your family, friends, coworkers, or neighbors for their thoughts. There’s nothing like an outsider’s perspective to protect you from swindlers. If nobody’s available to talk, take some time to think about what the offer entails. Sleep on it.

Many scammers rely on pressure to get you to part with your hard-earned cash. So, any offers that are super duper urgent are probably attempts to get you into a mind frame where you’re easier to manipulate. Fairly good deals and sales happen all the time; there is absolutely no reason to rush. Ever!

Wedding dresses. You can buy an identical evening gown in a different colour for a few hundred, but make it white and call it a Wedding dress, you add a zero to the end of the price. So a £400 evening dress is £4000, because its white and in a bridal shop.

The last wedding I attended was in a public park (which had really nice scenery for wedding photos). The bride and groom wore nice clothes they already owned and had spent a couple hundred dollars on rings. Instead of bringing gifts, the guests brought food for a pitch-in lunch. After the ceremony and lunch, we all played fun games. It was the only wedding I really enjoyed attending - and the only one where I noticed that children were obviously having a good time.

And to add insult to injury, they don’t even size them in a way that doesn’t flatter the bride. If you wear a US size 8—people this size are not overweight or out of shape because it’s simply a healthy size for most people that is still slender without looking anorexic—-your wedding gown’s size number will be about 4 to 6 sizes larger, so anywhere from a US 12 to a 16. At a time when most women worry about how they look, they could at least use more flattering sizing, to avoid creating more eating disorders and nervous breakdowns.

As a seamstresses point of view (which I'm not, I just like to sew), wedding dresses are really complicated to do though. You can compare wedding dresses to ballgowns, but evening dresses usually don't come even close to wedding dresses in complexity. So if the dress involves boning, fitted closure, full lining, train and other stuff, it's bound to be expensive. Also quality fabrics cost a lot in every color. I personally woundn't mind getting married in a simple white dress made of cheaper material. But then I would not expect getting anything close to the support, quality and complexity of a traditional wedding dress.

I would feel terrible spending lots of money for a wedding dress i only get to wear once (plus we both don't like white dresses).

Plastic recycling is a scam sold to us by the oil companies (from which plastic is made), so we won't feel bad about using single-use plastic. It's not cost effective to sort plastics into the myriad recyclable categories, so your trash company is just throwing it all in the landfill with your trash.

Also the same company is now doing tests for cement for sidewalks. In my city, near the hockey arena, there are pieces of sidewalks with different components: cement and recycled glass, cement and plastics etc... The winner will be the one that resists the best.

Australia used to ship 100% of their plastic 'recycling' overseas for them to deal with. Then journalists outed the results of this practice and the government decided not to ship it anymore, but we had no recycling plants for soft plastic here. Small (supposedly non-profit) companies took over, saying they had ways of dealing with it. One in particular boomed, collecting soft plastics from supermarkets and supposedly recycling it. Then journalists found they and other companies were just storing it indefinitely. There were fires at a number of storage facilities too. They were shut down and now we are back at square one, with very little option for soft plastic, other than putting it in the rubbish bin. There are some small companies around, but acess to them is limited by your state etc.

Same goes for ratings on retail websites. People use them to see if what they’re buying sight unseen is actually worth it, and not a pug in a poke. So, fake reviews, both good and bad, are criminally misleading. They can either tank a perfectly good product, or cause people to be swindled sounding way too much buying products not worth a dime. I try to avoid the high and low ratings, and look at the middle ratings to find pros and cons.

There are websites you do this for free and it doesn't cost you a thing. But they do give you the coordinates to "your" star (which is clearly indicated in the print that it's not actually your star, just where you can find this particular star in the sky). It's still a gimmick, in a similar sense, but it costs you absolutely nothing at all. One of my kids has a star they named starry mcstar lol.

It makes it easier for scientists if the stars have proper names and the names contain information about the star which makes it easier. Imagine the chaos if random people could name whatever star they wanted

This is a self inflicted problem that no one wants to acknowledge. Cheap printers (sub $100) are sold at a considerable loss, on the basis that the manufacturer will recoup that loss through the sale of ink/toner carts. Less of an issue with laserjets, but even with those the pricier models usually have "refillable" toner carts. Where the carts normally cost $12-$15, you can easily find bottles of toner powder that brings that cost down to $3 a refill. Tank printers which are usually north of $200, allow you to buy massive bottles of printer ink that can refill each tank 10+ times per color, for less than the cost of a single ink cart. You're the one making the purchase, so either make a good one, or stop complaining about the consequences of trying to be cheap.

So...I'm cheap... because I literally probably use my printer at home maybe 4-5 times a year...so I have ZERO need for a printer that costs $200 plus at initial purchase and bc I kinda expect that when i pay for an item that i actually own it and can use it as I see fit... I don't need a subscription program for ink I can go spend the fortune it is to buy ink when I need it I don't want to have to use an app to print I just want to pay for my item whatever that cost might be own it and make my choices from there as I see fit... Not sure how standing up to what is defined as planned obsolescence which you seem pretty intelligent so you probably know what that means. Either way I'm not cheap because I pay for something expect to own it and don't want to have to buy more product I don't need or spend $200 on a printer I don't need when I should be able to for my needs pay $45 and move on 😁

I have given up on owning a printer. When I actually need a paper copy of something (rarely), I go to the local office store and pay $0.20 per page.

The other issue is the Print Subscription scam. You get to pay for printing more than X pages per month, and, should you dare to buy a branded ink cartridge at the store (not a generic but a brand name matching your printer) the cartridge will not be "recognized" and you can not print (company rhymes with Pewlitt-Hackard). Bought one of the Shaq approved mega-tank printers and it it is great.

Here in the UK replacement toner cartridges are more expensive than buying a new printer (that comes with toner cartridges). Compatible toner cartridges are cheap but are never recognised by the printer and don't work. I miss the old days when you could buy your ink and refill your cartridges yourself.

Why Scentsy? Decent candles (beeswax or soy) cost way more than the one time purchase of the Scentsy warmer and the wax cubes are cheap and made in my home state, and they're non-carcinogenic unlike candles. Plus I don't have to worry about my cats lighting their tails on fire with the wax warmer.

    AnkleByter

1 year ago Created by potrace 1.15, written by Peter Selinger 2001-2017

Because there are cheaper options that are just as good, or better. Scentsy doesn't *have* to cost as much as it does. Of course as with all things, the production of the products costs mere pennies, while the company charges out the butt. The quality may be better than some other brands, but it's certainly not the best and there are many just as good, and better, options out there. Wax warmers almost all follow the same production standards (barring very few substandard). There isn't anything special about their warmers or their wax that would justify the cost. But, that's coming from someone who made those kinds of products and sold them in an actual store (online and B&M) that we owned for a little over ten years. Scentsy is definitely gimmicky, but, if you like it, you like it and that's cool. We all overpay for things here and there.

I'm in an accredited online college called University of Arizona Global Campus getting a bachelor's in psychology; it's been an incredible experience. The profs are incredibly knowledgeable, it's fast paced but one class at a time so it's challenging but because I focus on one class at a time it's an excellent education. If it was in person I'd never be able to get a degree because I make 12 bucks and hour and have a wife and 2 kids, one isn't school aged and daycare costs more than I make, let alone on top of bills and other needs. The idea that anyone gets scammed out of thousands is beyond infuriating, they should get every dime back, plus restitution for their wasted time and stress. Luckily I got federal loans so so far, it isn't killing us financially and I have an internship already waiting for me!

I have made an interesting observation about my own life. I rarely wear makeup and when I do, I do it quite modestly. Still, the most unwanted attention comes when I'm bare-faced and have acne scars and glasses that make my eyes smaller. The question is whether women without makeup are thought of (possibly cultural differences play a role here) as more confident and authentic. Although, my resting friendly face certainly plays its part.

Not once have I considered buying any. If I can't pass a level without paying, I'm not going to play it. They give bonuses without paying every 10 stages or so, so even levels I haven't done so well on I can go back and use them on, so I don't understand why people fall for the cost. Got reeled in to that years ago, before I knew better, and it cost me. Now, once I reach that level, I delete the game. Sad that there are so few games that don’t do that, because certain types of games are actually good for your brain (the games where you have to solve puzzles to reach the next level, thereby making you remember correct moves and develop strategies to succeed).

This bothers me less, although I would like a way to turn them off. People aren't going to develop good games for free. I don't really have an issue with them making money off their work; otherwise, I wouldn't be able to play the game at all without paying. I just never put my card into the app store, so there's no way I can even buy anything by accident, and play what's available in the game without money.

So people want answers to big questions? Why not try science and logic instead of fairy tales and folklore? Maybe the appeal is because science does not have all the answers and religion claims to.

Human rights are a joke for the left. They cry over a supposed lack or losing of Rights when the government is of another party, but as soon as they get in power, Human rights are erased day after day. It killed more than 10 times more people than the Nazis and over and over proves the horseshoe theory.

The guarantee or warranty should come with the product as part of the purchase price, and have clear and reasonable instructions for using it—-not too hard to use so people who need it can achieve satisfaction, but not so easy the company could be scammed. A clear, honest, and shortened translation of the legalese in the thousand page agreement that non-lawyers can understand would help with that. Unless we go back to being able to take our appliances and whatnot to independent repair shops like we used to do, consumers would feel like they’re finally being treated fairly, instead of ripped off, if they could have the seller or manufacturer do the repairs or replacement directly.

Based on the OP and comments, there's a misunderstanding of the difference between a warranty/guarantee and insurance. Warranties cover failure whilst under normal, well-maintained use - insurance covers damage/theft/etc. E.g. drop your electronic/timepiece/etc down the stairs and it breaks? Insurance. Get the same stolen - whether at home or away - insurance. It just stops working prematurely even though properly maintained? Warranty/guarantee.

Do you mean 'warranties', which you don't pay extra for, and are actually a good thing to have if your what-not breaks down in a certain amount of time, or is faulty, or do you mean the so called (and totally useless) "extended warranties", which aren't worth the paper they're printed on?

Very good general advice :only insure what you absolutely can not cover and what is essential. Insurance is always a bet against the "house" (insurance). and just like in a casino, the insurance always wins. Should you insure your car? Absolutely. Should you insure your kitchen appliance? It stopped the screaming and crying until I could get him into the doctor. I also tested in my ear as opposed to my son to see if there was any difference and YES, there surely was! If you have an excess of earwax or an active infection, candling eases the pain and pressure

Enriching the tax preparation companies is definitely part of the equation but the right in the US wants to make paying taxes as painful as possible so you’ll hate taxes even more. That is also why we don’t see the full-tax amount on retail prices. Reactionary conservatives want taxes to feel as present, inconvenient and enraging as possible from the moment you pay for something to the moment you have to file your return.

Buying online music is fine if you know where to get it and how to handle the files. Download the mp3, don't stream it. That way when they shut down the server or yank your access you still have your copy. But the problem with that is most sellers make it very hard to do. Amazon used to be good about letting you download your own copy, but then changed and made it almost impossible which is why I no longer buy anything there. Sites like 7digital still let you download your own copy easily, but who knows how long that will last.

Most people understand that gambling is entertainment, not a reliable means of income or of getting rich quickly. They go to the casino, have some fun and leave a bit lighter in the wallet in the vast majority of cases. It really is no different than any other form of entertainment in that respect. And casinos do not guarantee that you will win so, not a scam; it IS called “gambling” after all. It’s the few people who think they’re going to get rich that are getting scammed…by themselves. If you don’t know that the house has an enormous advantage in most cases, you definitely shouldn’t be gambling.

Oh yes they are a scam. You are conned into thinking that you need to vacation using their facilities, for an annual fee that is higher than if you planned your trip by yourself. And that annual fee that it seems you can never get out of. Just stop paying. Eventually they stop asking and your credit is fine. Took mine 3 years.

There are always 2 or 3 people that manage to make the most of their timeshare and use it, but for most of the people it ends up being an expensie inconvenience. You simply cannot get enough vacation time to justify the cost, and usually cannot get the timeframes that you want. The maintenance fees alone come up to be more expensive than a regular vacation

I have made laundry freshener from baking soda and essential oils, but my favorite is vinegar and nowadays I don't need other fresheners anymore. I sometimes soak sports clothes in diluted vinegar water before washing, it also refreshes a swimsuit that has been in natural water at the end of the summer before washing. Or after the strong smell of chlorine in the pool. (The most disgusting information of the day: many swimming pools, at least here where I live, have an automatic detector that cleans the pool water, so if the chlorine smells strongly, the more swimmers there are who haven't washed before entering the pool, or the water has been peed recently).

I had a student who can be described with the words entitled, lazy, cheat, bully, manipulative, liar ... Yep, he's a chiropractor now. The good news is that he failed the US exam. He passed the one in Norway, so that's where he practices. So beware if you have back problems in Norway.

My understanding is that the UK chiropractor is the equivalent (or close to) the US osteopathic doctor. A DO goes through medical school but gets extra training in osteopathic medicine. But correct me if I'm wrong.

I now have to have a prescription for the much needed pseudoephedrine that my sinuses for me to need that I used to be able to buy OTC—-and had been since the 1980s when Burroughs-Wellcome invented it. It used to be reasonably priced back then too, and now even the generics cost a pretty penny.

Phenylephrine nasal spray works very well, but in the pill for, it's practically useless. They knew this at the time they were looking for an OTC replacement for pseudoephedrine.

In Australia, if your allergy/antihistamine meds have "PE" on the box, they do nothing. A pharmacist once joked with me that the PE stands for Placebo Edition. Go to a doctor, get a prescription for the real stuff that has active ingredients.

Also be VERY careful about bringing sudafed abroad. It's considered an illicit substance in some countries since it's often a precursor chemical for a certain hard d**g. Some of these same countries also have the death penalty for certain d**g offences.

Phenylephrine doesn’t even beat placebo. Pseudoephedrine is better, but not by a huge amount. I miss phenylpropylalamine (PPA), which got taken off the market a few decades ago, even for prescription, because a few studies showed it caused a small-to-moderate increase in stroke risk for certain categories of women. They should have just given it a black box warning and allowed it to be sold prescription-only, allowing doctors and patients to decide whether the risk was significant for them. But decongestants are considered a “convenience” medicine rather than a medically important one, and the FDA won’t allow anyone to use a convenience med if there’s a measurable risk of anything serious to any subset of adults. I personally believe this extreme caution is a continued overreaction to thalidomide, which justifiably scared a lot of people but didn’t warrant taking so many useful meds completely off the market. Even thalidomide is still on the market as a prescription.

Toothless Feline, if pseudoephedrine is "convenience" medicine, it is a mighty big convenience. It stops me from needing to stay home and not get paid, damm what an inconvenience. When I get sick I need pseudoephedrine to save cutting down a hundred trees to create all of the tissues I would use.

Any of those stock tip subscription sites. The ones that offer you the “inside scoop” on stocks that are going to shoot up

Literally all of them are pump and dumps. All of them. The stock shoots up because all of the subscribers buy the stock at once, then the big guys sell at the top and the price crashes again leaving the subscribers bagholding some dirt company

A lot of it is common sense. Oil company stock went down when covid hit, you could be sure it would come back up. Pump & dump will only work if the number of people buying is significant in relation to the free float (number of stocks available to the public) and the average trading volume, both public information. So a stock tip site needs either an outrageous number of subscribers or really obscure stock tips. Reddit influencers on the other hand can have an immense audience (Roaring Kitty), so beware.

My great-great-grandfather brought his smartphone here in the cargo hold of a British merchant ship in 1862. My grandfather carried that very same smartphone when he stormed the beaches of Normandy in '44. That smartphone has survived famines, droughts, and a plague of locusts in 1912. It has become our family's most treasured possession, and someday, God willing, I will pass that smartphone on to my own grandchildren.

Here are a few of the issues. They are called residents because they pretty much live at the hospital. They work about 80 hours per week and a shift can be 20 hours or more. They just graduated from medical school and have $250,000 to $300,000 in student loans. They need to start making loan payments, but starting salary averages $55,000 a year. In many programs, they need to compete against other residents for opportunities to evaluate/treat patients. Residents may have few opportunities to experience the kind of medical conditions/patients they want to work with after completing residency and going into their chosen specialty.

IF there are stores in your area that have what you need in stock. IF. Remember, not everyone live near a metropolitan area where there are multiple huge store with everything you need available. Some of us live in remote or rural areas with only smaller towns nearby with smaller stores and less variety, and metro areas are hundreds of miles away. So we rely on mail order, and are glad of it. Unfortunately there are times it’s unavoidable that Amazon is the only online vendor that has what we need in stock and will have it delivered to us in a decent amount of time, including their Prime 2-Day Shipping if we need it ASAP. Though most of us try to avoid using it, sometimes we have no other choice, because nearby stores don’t have the products we need, and even the manufacturers can’t get them to us by the time we need them.

The Mecca is a multi billion business. Imagen if your earthly representative of your imaginary man in the sky told you that, once in your life, you had to, to cleanse yourself, go on a Royal Caribbean cruse. So save up all your life, then give all your savings to Royal Caribbean. Otherwise it's Jahannam for you mate!!

    Dating apps.

They gain nothing from you finding a good relationship. If anything they lose ad revenue after you delete the app. They're there to sell you on buying premium versions or add-ons. They'll give you just enough matches, likes, etc to give you some hope. But their goal is to make money off of you, not to help you be happy.

I answered an online ad 24 years ago. The only time I ever did. It was my high school girlfriend. We've been happily married for 22 years now.

I met my husband online but not on a dating app, we were friends before we got to gand we are still best friends now. Over 15 years and my stomach still flutter. You can absolutely meet people online but don't count on finding it on dating apps.

I don't remember where I got my cord from, but it's lasted for at least 4 years. Is this about iphones?

I've had an iphone cable for 4-5 years. I take decent care of it, try not to run over it with my deskchair, and it's fine.

This is another self inflicted problem. Older USB2 cables consisted of 4 wires running directly from one end of the cable to the other, not unlike an Ethernet cable, so cable bends were not stressing the connection point. USB 2 capped out at 2.5w power delivery, and 480 megabit transfer speed, USB 3 doubled the wire count to 8, 3.1 upped the wire count to 12, and USB C, has 24 itty bitty wires, 40 GIGABIT data speeds and 240 WATTS of power delivery....but those wires are not end to end, those wires are SOLDERED to a micro PCB which controls power delivery, signal integrity and data throughput. YOU ARE NOT MEANT TO HANDLE YOUR DEVICE WHILE IT IS PLUGGED IN. Doing so stresses the solder points on the PCB housed in the cable end, either causing the joints to break, or the cable housing to degrade. They're not designed to fail after three months, they're simply much more capable, and thus complicated bits of technology. They fail because consumers refuse to learn a lesson.

Or, and hear me out, they could build strain relief into the cable and solve the problem that way.

Salt lamps. The claim sellers make is that they can miraculously change the air around them which somehow apparently improves your health/sleep etc. Load of BS. I bought one once because I liked the shape of it. It used to drip salt onto the table and make a mess. It eventually rusted and stopped working.

LOL... my wife had to deal with an irate customer once because the customer had bought a salt lamp... and when it got dusty... put it in her dishwasher. My wife told her "IT WAS SALT. What did you expect it to do?"

Vitamins and herbal supplements. In a few cases, like when a person has a legitimate deficiency, they help. There are few herbs with legitimate medical benefit. Otherwise it's a complete waste of money.

After moving in to a newly built house, I went to two alternative physicians for chronic fatigue. They both had a side company to sell patients hundred of dollars a week of specially formulated supplements. After three months I realized I was not improving and went back to my mainstream doctor. I was diagnosed with extreme allergy to dust mites. This new house was wall to wall carpeting. We moved to a house that had no carpets and hardwood floors and my fatigue vanished. I also suspect the new house was gassing off chemicals like formaldehyde from all the newly made building materials.

I really wish they weren't so expensive! I do need them because my autoimmune system is s**t, so I buy iron, vit B, vit D, magnesium, calcium and folate and it costs so much, way more than my prescription meds.

you might be able to find a multivitamin product that covers the vitamins and one that does both calcium and magnesium. iron of course can't be in the same pills because it needs to be taken 2h before anything with calcium. But those combo pills from the supermarket are usually way cheaper than the specialized from the d**g store
