30 Women Tell A Makeup Artist And Hairstylist Duo To “Do Something” But Don’t Know What, So They Freestyle It (New Pics)
Interview With Artist
The Moscow-based makeup artist Oksana Trunova and hairstylist Olga Tarasova have been putting the smiles back on women’s faces when they want a change but have no idea where to start. The duo started “blind makeovers” five years ago, and their online fanbase has since grown to 32,700 Instagram followers.
The idea came after Oksana, who previously worked in a beauty salon, had women tell her to "do something" that would alter their looks but “they didn’t know what they wanted.” Today, Oksana and Olga enjoy seeing the eyes of their happy clients who just underwent a dramatic transformation. “We are not only stylists, we are also psychologists,” the makeup artist told Bored Panda in an interview that you can read in full below.

The hair coloring gives her depth, brings out her complexion and her eyes.
In an interview with Bored Panda, Oksana said that she adores everything about her work. “It’s like a hobby to me, my favorite thing without which I could never imagine myself.” The makeup artist and founder of the Oksana Trunova Academy said that the thing which touches her the most in makeovers is the “happy eyes of our clients.”
When it comes to a specific transformation, Oksana explained that she always talks to her client before they start the transformation procedure, so that the makeup artist can get to know them better. There’s no universal look that would fit every woman and Oksana assured us that “the makeup for each participant is individual.”
“We take into account the participant’s lifestyle, age, personality.” In this way, Oksana said, “we are no longer simply stylists,” they become “psychologists.”
The feedback from women who underwent the transformation always brings Oksana and her colleague Olga to tears. “People change not only externally, but also internally,” the makeup artist said.

a fringe can really bring out your eyes, I know she's wearing eye makeup in the 2nd shot, but still, very nice !

Although I am rather critical of these postings, I need to admit this one is much better than usual. Normally, the people on the left look miserable, are shot with bad lighting and strange backgrounds, whereas those on the right are super glad and heavily edited. No so here...the comparison is balanced.

I noticed that as well. I also like how the makeup and hair wasn't just one style that was slapped on everyone, seems like the artist took everyone's individual face shape and hair type into account.

Things I like on this thread: same background on the B&A, most of them are smiling on both photos (much better than B&A when people are gloomy on the before). And mostly : the after is not over the top; the haircuts looks easy to maintain day to day and the make-up is doable with non-professional products.

I like that nobody was photoshopped like all hell in this post. I also like that they're wearing the same outfit instead of an ugly outfit and a flattering outfit to make the difference seem more profound.

Camera angles are changed in many, or hands are hiding features like a double chin. Adding any makeup helps.

I'm thinking of doing something similar at my next trip to my hair stylist. She can cut it as short as she wants as long as it's easy for me to style. And who cares if it isn't amazing? I'm a stay at home mom and can wear hats 99% of the time outside until it grows!

Go for it! I went in with back length hair and told the lady "do whatever you want as long as I don't have to spend too much time styling it each day." You'd have thought I just gave her a million dollars or something - she was over the moon excited. lol Gave me a great Vidal bob.

I let a girl at a girl cut my hair free style....worst mistake I made. My hair was less then a inch long all over my head. Husband hated it and so did I. So beware.

I'm happy that these women got a chance to see how they can look a bit different, but how about seeing one of these makeover posts that doesn't use so much facial smoothing Photoshop techniques? That's not makeup, that's retouching.

Look at the spots on the chest and neck where you can see both in both photos. Or at the hands that are hiding some of the necks. Photoshopped like crazy.

I think the lighting in the second photo is a bit brighter but kinder, but still, great changes. And for all those who say 'oh, you should just go grey', here's your proof against that platitude, colour takes years off you.

Of course I love the after shots. I just wish (and thinking of myself here) that it didn't take gobs of makeup to get to this point. The other thought I always have is the upkeep on the new hairstyles. Having to retouch the roots for color (more money & time) and would I know how to style it quickly for work...... Guess that's why I stay old and crabby looking.....tee hee......

When I go to a "stylist" and pay $60 (US) for a haircut and ask for suggestions, this is what I expect. I always leave look like the before pictures here. They don't even have a book with standard haircuts to choose from. I stopped paying good money. I go to Great Clips or something like that (and give them a very generous tip, but I still pay less). If all they can do is cut exactly what you tell them, and can't help you look better, they are not professionals.

Example after example of people with normal appearances being made to look extraordinary. And to be sure most of the feedback, the upvotes, the comments, often positive, are from women. But, of course, it is men who create pressure for women to look beautiful.

I wonder if bright colours like peach, orange, light rose and white flitter isn´t possible for elder women ... don´t like the age gap in make-up ... would love to see some fresh new styles ... not only fit-in-society-styles ... before-after-shows though always supergood. can´t get enough :-)

Amazing photography tricks on most of the comparisons.... Having the subject smile, do a side ways pose and have them use their hand in the photo.
