Most of us have seen Disney classics like The Lion King, Beauty And The Beast, and The Little Mermaid more times in our lives than we could count. With many of those movies we grew up with, they’d then return to screens as a Christmas special, or we’d put them on for our own kids in a bid to share that sweet sense of nostalgia. We turned into adults, but our love for Disney stayed.
So, for Disney aficionados like us, we have a special treat. Get your popcorn ready, ‘cause thanks to the wonderful corner of Reddit r/MovieDetails, we have a precious collection of hidden gems and tiny details spotted in Disney movies.
Let’s give a big round of applause for the Redditors gifted with an exceptionally sharp eye for details that were able to fish out all the interesting things we don't really notice. Have something that’s not on this list? Share the little details you've spotted in the comment section below, so we can all have the pleasure of turning into Disney-fueled detectives.

In Disney's Mulan (1998) - Mulan is told "A girl can bring her family great honor in one way...by striking a good match." Both of Mulan's victories over the Huns involved lighting explosives.
It’s their fault of not leaving Translator’s Note. It can be saved more often than not with creative translation/writing.
Load More Replies...It's one of my favourite movies. Mulan is vulnerable and kind but she's also badass. She's real.
@Marianne, it is sad indeed, and it is awefully difficult to translate puns like these ... and i would know, it's my job ...
They didn't have matches back then, but who cares? ~~~ fun fact: Mulan's people's first language was Siber (Xianbei), and she probably didn't speak Chinese. The Wei armies were almost exclusively Siber.
I did not know that. Is that any connection to Siberia?
Load More Replies..."Striking a match" is horribly clunky and forced, obviously been put in there for the later scenes. In the context given, you'd make a match, you wouldn't strike one.
In Aladdin, Genie wears a Hawaiian shirt and Goofy hat near the end of the film as a tribute to Robin Willams’ outfit in the 1989 short “Back To Neverland” that was filmed for Disney’s MGM Studios.
Every actor in every movie should wear this outfit in the last scene..
Jack in Titanic wearing this just before he freezes to death. Ok not the last scene, but it was his last scene.
Load More Replies...Although I only just now noticed the Goofy hat, so I could be wrong.
Load More Replies...Previously, Bored Panda spoke to Redditor Niiue, one of the moderators of the wonderful Movie Details community, about the hidden details in movies and whether directors place them in the hope that the audience will find them.
"Most details are definitely there for the audience to find, but I think a lot of it also just comes down to creative people wanting to have fun with their projects. Speaking from experience here (though I work on video games, not movies), it really is a lot of fun to add little Easter eggs and whatnot just for the hell of it," Niiue said.
The Incredibles (2004) features a cameo by Frank Thomas and Ollie Johnston, two legendary Disney animators who worked on Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937).
When I grew up I wanted to be an octopus. No lies 🤦♀️
Load More Replies...Disney honored them with an absolutely wonderful 1995 documentary titled, appropriately enough, “Frank and Ollie.” I highly recommend it for the insights into their lifelong friendships and how they helped each other out to create some iconic scenes in the history of animation. It is available as a DVD from Amazon. A1B8DB4A-5...1c7d0.jpeg
They also have a cameo in The Iron Giant as the train workers, also directed by Brad Bird.
I love how one of their lines is "There's nothing like the good old days!"
In Moana, a villager foreshadows the chicken's unsuccessful attempt to consume Maui.
Could be, could also be that it later eats the heart, or it could just be a joke.
We were also interested to know which production houses and directors are most adept at hiding Easter eggs in their movies. According to the moderator, some production houses and directors are more into hiding Easter eggs in their movies than others. "Besides the obvious choices like Pixar, I think Edgar Wright is another example of someone great at hiding details in his movies,” Niiue said and continued the list: “Shaun of the Dead, Scott Pilgrim, and Hot Fuzz are the first ones that come to mind in this regard. You'll find that his movies tend to get featured on this subreddit a lot, which I think reflects his skill as a director."
In Disney's 'Aladdin', the Genie sings "Well, Ali Baba had them forty thieves, Scheherazade had a thousand tales." Scheherazade actually had One thousand and one Arabian tales, but one of them was the tale of Aladdin.
There are not really exactly 1001 tales, it just sounds nice. Also in the Arabian original, many stories were totally different and English "translators" just added more stories that they thought were better suited for European audience. If I remember correctly, Aladdin was one of those.
stories of Shahrazad as we know them are not Arabic but Persian... and even not Persian originally, these legends can be traced back to India or so... so probably the Persians just collected the stories from half of the continent and put them together... Arabs just assimilated them later
Fun trivia - In the original tale of Aladdin, the story takes place in China.
It does, but it seems to be a China that exists in her mind of someone who has never been to China and thinks the Middle East is in China. Like it’s a little vaguely Arabian despite being in China.
Load More Replies...Totally unrelated here but my man was always talking about an Arabian Nights book he had when he was a child and how much he loved it, so I found an old one in an auction on eBay and got it for less than £10, it was published in the 1930's, almost a hundred years old now! We have it sitting in a bookcase, probably not stored correctly at all for a book of its age! It's definitely the best thing I've ever found on eBay!
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aladdin You are correct, however it is a part of the 1001 tales as we know them today, even if not originally, therefore the above statement is correct Xx
Disney's "Lilo & Stitch" (2002) used watercolor backgrounds, exclusively. The studio had some financial failures and was doing ambitious things elsewhere, so they left the filmmakers to their own devices, off at the Florida studio. The only other watercolor films are Dumbo and Snow White.
It's actually a great addition to the look and feel and makes it very distinctive.
Load More Replies...Bambi also had watercolor backgrounds. I watched entire documentary about the making of Bambi. It came with the movie, on DVD.
Hey, I wrote and posted this on Reddit. I hope the image choice is obviously watercolors in the background. Thanks, BoredPanda.
Chicha from The Emperor’s New Groove (2000) is the first pregnant female character to appear in a Disney animated feature film, according to the DVD commentary. She’s also one of the first mother characters in a Disney film not to be killed off or villainized.
I also like that her pregnancy isn’t a plot point, as in she doesn’t inconveniently go into labor at a crucial point.
Yeah, just as if being pregnat were a completely normal thing, right?
Load More Replies...yesss im so happy the emperors new groove is on this list, this is the superior disney movie!!!!
Child: Mom this is Disney! Mom: how do you know? Child: the parents are gone.
Wait. Why did they have to specify “first pregnant female character”? Had there been a pregnant MALE character before that????
Yeah, but The Flintstones was from Hanna Barbera. Btw, when I was little I thought Hannah Barbera was a woman XD
Load More Replies...The moderator of the Movie Details subreddit also shared their personal favorite hidden movie details. "Personally, I liked the way Scott Pilgrim had a recurring number motif tied to the Evil Exes. In the scenes before each fight, there are numerous references to the corresponding Evil Ex; for instance, right before the fight with Lucas Lee, the main characters pass by two crossing signs with an X design, a reference to Lucas being the second Evil Ex.”
“These kinds of references even continue after the Evil Ex in question is introduced, such as Lucas Lee saying (twice) that it will take 'two minutes to kick [Scott's] ass' and later fighting Scott accompanied by his stunt doubles.”
Whenever Maui changes into an animal on Moana, the hook shows up somewhere on his body.
At the end of “Frozen”, Disney included a statement about Kristoff’s belief that all men eat their own boogers.
In Disney’s “The Lion King” The line “What do you want me to do? Dress in drag and do the hula?” was improvised by Timon’s voice actor Nathan Lane. The director liked the line so much, he decided to make a scene for it.
The original Lion King had the single greatest joke (at Disney's expense, btw) to ever occur in a Disney feature when Scar demands Zazu sing him a song. As Zazu starts to sing "It's a Small World", Scar immediately grabs him by the throat and says "Not that song". Every adult who's been on that ride identifies with Scar at that moment. Can't believe I've been on it at least four times.
And two years later, Nathan Lane would go on to play his iconic drag Queen character in The Birdcage
Created in 2017, the Movie Details community is relatively new, but it has a whopping 2.3 million members who could easily call themselves detectives of cinematography. From Easter eggs to incredible hints, tiny details, and scenes, they fish everything out and bring it into plain sight. Often, their findings change and add depth to the perspective of the whole film.
In The Lion King, the lions retract/extend their claws as needed (even in subtle moments) ... but Scar's claws are always out.
scar and yzma (emperors new groove) are the superior disney villains and you cant change my mind
It was said that it was a deliberate part of his character; intentionally indicating a threat at all times and his readiness for violence.
In Disney’s Princess and The Frog (2009),Tiana’s dad received the DSC (Distinguished Service Cross)—the US Army’s second highest award for valor. During WWI African-American soldiers often did not receive America’s highest recognition for bravery—the Medal of Honor.
And they were treated like s**t when they came back from helping save the world!
They were. Their widows/widowers didn't receive survivor benefits nor did they receive the GI Bill used by whites who served to buy homes in the suburbs
Load More Replies...Watch Medal of Honor on Netflix. The episode on Edward A Carter talks about this very thing. He received the DSC and didn’t get the Medal of Honor until 1997, more than 30 years after he died, with 9 other black soldiers. It was interesting because black soldiers had received the Medal of Honor in WWI and even the Civil War, but not WWII.
Sadly too many soldiers widow's are presented their husbands awards decades later. These soldiers stood tall through hell and it is shameful that they weren't recognized and honored for it within their lifetime.
Load More Replies...So all of those brave men, who put their lives on the line, weren't quite 100% brave?
I'm a veteran. It's not that they're bot brave but these awards are for special occasions. Like someone dies (Tianas dad), gets wounded, saves someone. Something that distinguishes them from the rest of the troops.
Load More Replies...But they did review many of those awards and upgraded them IRL, so this would have been one.
So many deserved that and more! Recognition for their unwavering dedication to their country, their outstanding performances in wartime, and saving their squads, outfits, units, so much.. I think it’s time!
In Aladdin, the Genie writes Aladdin’s order from right to left, which is how Arabic would be actually written.
I won't really call it a detail, that's more like an obvious mistake they didn't make.
Well... Attention to detail is thoroughness and accuracy when accomplishing a task, so technically detail. Not making obvious mistakes is attention to detail
Load More Replies...Actually what he wrote is Persian not arabic. The first word means turkey and the second one means cooked rice (polo , notice that there is no P in arabic)
This is actually written in Farsi (Persian) the meaning is "Turkey Rice"
Can anyone translate what he wrote? Curious if it's accurate to what's happening in the scene :)
Actually it's not in arabic it's in farsi(persian) and it means turkey and rice
Load More Replies...In Disney's Princess and the frog, the wallpaper where Dr. Facilier's shadow is, turned to cross bones.
Another nice detail: none of the voodoo symbols are real. The artists made absolutely certain not to use any actual voodoo symbols, both to avoid appropriation... and to avoid accidentally invoking anything. : P
Isn't he based on Baron Samedi, the big Papa of Voodoo? He's like the god of the dead
At the end of Disney/Pixar’s Ratatouille (2007) Anton Ego is a little bit fatter. This is especially poignant since he states, "I don't like food, I love it... if I don't love it I don't swallow."
it's supposed to make you cringe. it's supposed to be subjective innuendo. this is solid writing. Brilliant of them to make him skinny (ie his bar is so high that he rarely digests any food).
Load More Replies...I noticed that he was fatter and figured it's the way of showing he's more relaxed and eats more
Wow! I did not notice that and I watched Ratatouille last week about half a dozen times! (I watch my cartoons every night, sometimes I select 2 or 3 either a series or ones that are kinda similar to each other and then I watch them on rotation for a good few nights or even a week! I don't like change very much so I like to stick to what I know lol
If it has a weird texture, I don't swallow (or at least I try to...)
In Disney’s Tangled, after Mother Gothel says “I love you most” to Rapunzel instead of kissing her forehead Mother Gothel kisses Rapunzel’s hair, which is her source of youth.
Yep, and it happens throughout her song “Mother Knows Best” - like when she says her restrictions are “to keep you safe and sound, dear” she’s caressing and looking only at the hair.
And Eugene/Flynn pushes her hair out of her face when saying he loves her! So clever
And in the latinamerican version she calls her "mi linda florecita" all the time... (My pretty little flower)
I noticed that--I was kinda just looking out for each times she'd kiss or stroke Rapunzel's hair instead of Rapunzel herself. There were a lot of times :o
I have been thinking about this movie a lot than I just watched it the other day its kind of like symbolism of my life. tis sad.
In Disney’s Hercules (1997) the Fates tell Hades "In 18 years precisely the planets will align ever so nicely", but only show 6 planets. The Greeks were only aware of 5 planets (plus Earth) which they could see with the naked eye.
Fun fact: you can see Uranus with the naked eye, but it moves so slowly that the ancients didnt realise it was a planet
its a nice detail, but overall innacurate. just because ancient greeks didnt know of the remaining 3 (4 if youre one of those) doesnt mean the planets dont exist.
Hercules movie subverted everything about the Greek Mythology's real Hercules. To begin with, Hercules is a semigod, that is, son of Zeus and the mortal queen Alcmena. Hera/Juno just hates him. She proves no motherly feelings for little Hercules. And Hades only appears when cruel and cunning Euristeos, adviced by Hera (who wants Hercules dead), orders him to bring to his palace Cerberus, Hades'three-headed dog who guards the entrance to Hell, so nobody can leave. Silly movie. Worse than what Disney Studios made with Pinocchio, who in the original story was a young scoundrel who finds redemption, very in the way of the biblical prodigal son, and turned the character into a nice, somewhat silly puppet. Nonsense.
Lost in translation in dutch version, it's translated as the stars will align here.
In Zootopia, Nick first answers "yes" when asked if he's ever been arrested, and then crosses over it.
I guess zootopia was already used for something over here.
Load More Replies...Ónice it asks for predator prey and not male, female. Not that those have to interconnect, but its crazy that they want to know predator prey.
Thats the whole plot of the movie though. No one thinks Judy can be a Police officer, because she is a rabbit (prey). Not sure but I think they mention that only predators get to be Police officers, so it makes sense to ask for that. And then they think that only predators can be the bad guys, so predators get a bad rep.
Load More Replies...In Disney's CINDERELLA and ALICE IN WONDERLAND, the same actress played the Fairy Godmother and the Red Queen in both the original animation and the live-action remake: Verna Felton voiced both women in the originals (1950, 1951), while Helena B. Carter played both women in the remakes (2010, 2015).
It was okay. Richard Madden played the prince. I hate Disney versions of Cinderella because she's this meek, nice but spineless person who just takes being badly treated without ever so much as getting angry. The only Cinderella story I like - actually love - is 1998's Ever After. Gorgeous movie, great cast and one the (if not the) best live action fairy tale adaptations I've ever watched.
Load More Replies...I love Helena! She's such a talented actress and always understands the assignment ;)
She is. I have loved everything she's done. I feel like she brings a separate individuality to all of her roles that most couldn't.

In Saving Mr Banks (2013), you can see the special Oscar that Walt Disney won for Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.
I haven't watched this movie so I had no idea about this detail, and I didn't know about the special Oscar for it! It's absolutely fantastic!
If whoever ownes it now ever has financial problems, they can sell this for a pretty penny
I think that the disney company probably owns it....
Load More Replies...In Disney’s The Rescuers (1977), Orville the Albatross is seen using a runway and requires a running start before taking flight. This is because albatrosses in real life also require a running start due to their significant size and weight.
This is because albatrosses in real life also require a running start due to their significant size and weight. CORRECTION because their long wings do not have strong muscles or energy, they cannot flap while they fly. ... When taking-off, albatrosses need to run first to help the wing make lift.
Anyone who has ever been to Guam or anywhere albatrosses hang out, know why they call them "gooney birds". They are the most beautiful bird in flight but every landing is a crash.
Giant albatrosses are the largest flying bird in terms of wingspan, in fact. Andean condors are the largest flying bird overall, though.
This also happens to be right before a very lewd scene for Disney, one that was censored from some movies...
The scene with the naked woman in the background for a few frames?
Load More Replies...And it is hilarious to see them land. Many times tumbling in as an airplane in a mishap.
In Disney's Pinocchio (1940), Figaro has a little "sand box" next to his bed that is only visible in one shot.
It was safe: "Figaro" had a dog that came in daily to clean up the "morsels."
Load More Replies...when I was a kid, I wanted to call my cat Figaro because of this movie. I told my mom and she thought the name was lame cuz she only knew the name from the Barber of Seville, (she hates Opera) so she wouldnt let me. D: She made me name him Scooby instead. I know right? It's not even a cat's name! Lol I never forgot it. To this day I still wanna name a cat Figaro. (But I keep adopting older cats and they have names already)
Aww, I could really watch Pinocchio right now! Lol, I've actually been considering subscribing to that Disney + so that I can access all the animations lol! Anyone subscribe to it? What's it like and is it worthwhile giving it a shot?
That is actually just too cute. I cannot believe I’m saying this
The Jungle Book (1967) The Vultures were originally going to be voiced by The Beatles. The band manager met with Disney and they created the images but the idea was vetoed by John Lennon. Their look and Liverpool dialects stayed, but the song was switch to a barbershop quartet.
Especially since Paul McCartney was later in the band Wings.
Load More Replies...In the latinamerican version, they had mexican, argentinian and spanish accents, and one I can't define.
In Pinocchio (1940) When Jiminy Cricket opens a book to tell the story of Pinocchio at the beginning of the film, two other books which Disney would later go on to animate are on the shelf. Alice in Wonderland (1951) and Peter Pan. (1953)
Maybe there's one library for all the movies Disney ever makes that starts with book opening. Mind blown.
Honestly, that'd be pretty cool to have at Disney World: a library of the original works, so you could see where the films started.
Load More Replies...Disney could've spared Carlo Collodi's Pinocchio this movie. It has NOTHING to do with the original. Turned Pinocchio into a simple, somewhat naive puppet, while the original Pinocchio is a teen scoundrel.
i believe that was the inspiration for this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=psAUiLqxiYg
In Zootopia, Nick's handkerchief was part of his Scout uniform from when he was a cub.
It’s called a neckerchief for anyone wondering. It’s usually worn to show what patrol, troop, council, or even country you are from like at the World Scout Jamboree.
I know my neckerchief would have been a lot larger than what he's holding though...
Load More Replies...Aww, that's sweet! Especially when you know what happened with him joining the scouts.
In The Princess and the Frog, when Tiana is going to her second job, the Magic Carpet from Aladin is the floor rug an old lady is shaking out.
If you look closely at the far background you can also spot the horse from Aristocats.
I love pointing that out to my cousins. I used to scream it at them once a pon a time
I cannot unsee the paper doll people at the bottom. Especially the woman in blue.
In Lilo & Stitch (2002) Stitch’s adoption paper Nani signs is actually a thank you letter from the directors and producer to the people who helped create the film.
Let it be known and stated in this, the fiftieth state of the union, on this, the 22nd day of September, 2001 that the Directors and Producer of the animated project LILO & STITCH (the "Picture") wish to recognize the hard work and amazing talent of the Florida Feature Animation Studio, including but not limited to, the artists, production management team and overhead departments, as well as acknowledge their meritorious service in conjunction with the production of the Picture. Additional recognition is given to California and Paris Feature Animation as well as our partners at Disney-MGM Studios for their participation and support during the making of Lilo & Stitch. ALOHA ANIMAL RESCUE
In Tangled, the lantern that Rapunzel lofts back into the sky is the one lit by the queen and king (her true parents). It was the only one with the royal symbol of the sun on it.
WAIT. Not everyone knew this? oh. I guess I'm just super amazing then! Just kidding!
I thought everyone knew that. Maybe I did since she is my favorite princess and when i wS little it was the only thing i would watch and i have seen it so many times that one of my friend’s parents bought it for when i was there for parties. All the older kids had to watch it with me.
Probably by looking and seeing no other lantern with the royal symbol.
Load More Replies...Zootopia - a buck on a buck.
A dollar being called a buck literally comes from frontier trading of skins, i.e. a buck's hide.
In the scene in which some charachter is selling pirate DVDs you can see Moana before it was released. I noticed that in the movie theater and thought: i bet those movies will be released in the future...
Took me ages to realise what Zootopia was as in the UK it's called Zootropolis XD
Really? I wonder how many "buck's hides" did they have to pay for a month of supplies. More than a BUCK I'll bet.
i always thought that that animal was a Fennec fox lol, learn something new every day
On the money, dollar bill, there is a buck - deer, iinstead of president's picture

Load More Replies...In 'The Little Mermaid', when Ariel rescues Eric from drowning and sings to him, she is backlit making her hair appear dark brown/black. It makes it even more conceivable that Eric believes the dark-haired human version Ursula was the one woman that rescued him.
Now that I’m thinking about this really for the first time, I’m guessing the main thing is it makes it more believable that everyone else in the palace believes that Ursula is the one who rescued him. Eric is just under a magic spell. However, I am betting in his days of trying to find the mystery girl, he gave descriptions of her to his staff for them to look for her too. His right hand man even says it appears this mystery woman exists after all, which could also imply she matches the description that Eric previously gave him.
It might also be a callback to the book, where there was no evil sea-witch but a genuine girl with dark hair who finds the prince on the beach after the little mermaid brought him there. He wakes up to the dark-haired girl and believes she's the one that rescued her, and there is absolutely no evil intend just a sad, one-sided love-story.
It's interesting that Ursula is a shape-shifter and can take any form she wants, but she chooses to be a big, brassy octopus with a gray streaked bouffant and drag queen makeup. I like that.
OHHHHhhhHHhhh It made her look like Vanessa/Ursula That's why he couldn't really remember cuz she had different colored hair + her voice didn't work
did you miss the whole part about "vanessa" brainwashing him and using ariels voice?
In Hercules (1997) when Hercules first walks into Phil's cabin he hits his head on the mast of the Argo. In the original myth, Jason, the captain of the Argo, was killed when the mast hit his head.
But Hercules was one of the Argonauts. A young Hercules wouldn't be in the same time as a piece of the Argo's wreckage.
Most of this movie is incorrect, like how Hera is the dude's mother when she really hated him.
Load More Replies...So you're saying Hercules met a mythical creation in a form of Phil and he had to transend to be in his world?
Hercules's actual name was Hereacles. Named for the glory of Hera and in hopes she wouldn't kill him/his mother (stupid Zues)
In The Lion King, (1994) Nala used her anti-pounce maneuver on Simba as a cub and a grown lioness. When he fights Scar at Pride Rock, Simba finally puts the maneuver to good use.
This is not a hidden detail. Simba recognizes Nala by the maneuvre when they meet as adults.
I thought the same thing - but I have to admit I hadn't put together him putting "the maneuver to good use" in defeating Scar.
Load More Replies...This is most likely because hand-drawn animated movies take a lót time, especially complicated moves like this. So to save time and money they redraw previous poses and expressions, or reuse the same slates again with different colors. You can still see this done in digitally animated movies: reused models, poses and expressions.
In Mulan (1998), Mulan mentions 'Punctual' as one of the desirable qualities in a bride. This is a callback to Aladdin when the Genie accidentally tells him to say 'Punctual'.
I think someone once said Punctuality is the courtesy of princes. Or something like that?
Another trivia: the singing voice of both Mulan and Princess Jazmin was Ms. Lea Salonga.
In Lilo & Stitch (2002) Lilo believes Pudge the fish controls the weather. Her parents were killed in a car accident caused by treacherous rain and she feeds him sandwiches to appease him, in hopes another accident will not happen like the one that took her parents.
detail, because it's not a part of the plot, just something this person noticed.
Load More Replies...I like the fan theory that Pudge is actually Maui from Moana watching over Lilo and Nani because they're Moana's decedents.
The blu-ray version of Disney’s Cinderella(1950) has been so scrubbed of grain that it removed some of the line work within some scenes.
I would happily watch a grainy movie if that would mean the details would actually be there, instead of them being scrubbed away...

Attention to fine details is the difference between computers and craftsmen doing a restoration.
Disney movies are often more complex than they seem, filled with intricate details and hidden gems not immediately apparent on first viewing. This thematic exploration is reminded to us in Ratatouille, where a deep dive into the animation reveals subtle yet meaningful Easter eggs, enriching the viewer's experience.
We invite you to explore these minute details further, much like the ones highlighted in Pixar's masterpiece.
In Disney’s “Tangled”, Rapunzel’s crib mobile shown in the beginning of the movie foreshadows scenes and characters we see throughout the rest of the film.
Sultan is the name of the dog that was transformed into a footstool in “Beauty and the Beast”. Another word for “footstool” is “ottoman”. The ruler of the Ottoman Empire was called a Sultan.
...And that's why you should call your couch store the "Ottoman Empire".
There is a store in Australia called that! (*Ottoman Empire* is the latest exciting venture by the team at Lauder & Howard Antiques and Fine Art, offering beautiful and unusual antique items from 16th century Europe and Asia for the homes and gardens of Australia and beyond.) https://ottomanempire.com.au/

My aunt lived near a movie theater that had a lot of movie memorabilia. In the front it had one of the herbie cars. The theater was shut down so I have no idea what happened to it
Frozen (2013) features accurate Norse runes. Disney consulted with Jack Crawford, a leading international expert in Old Norse. Crawford made several minor plot changes and coached voice actor Robert Pine, who played the bishop in the coronation scene and delivered a speech in the Norse language.
What was the point of using very accurate runes if they went to dress the characters with 19th century clothing anyways?
Friend in linguistics told me Medieval Runes were in use until about 1800.

It would be quite a different movie, as no cat ever wants to leave their islands because they might get wet...
Load More Replies...I haven't watched zootopia, is Duke Weaselton similar to the Frozen Character?
Aside from his name and being voiced by Alan Tudyk, Duke Weaselton is basically just a petty thief.
Load More Replies...I remember seeing that Easter egg when the film first came out but for whatever reason i thought it was an allusion to an anime! Also Duke corrects Judy when she pronounces his last name as Weslton to Weaselton, the opposite order of The Duke of Weslton in Frozen.
Honestly I wouldn't consider them knock-offs. Just what they actually would animate in the world of Zootopia. We animate humans a lot, so they'd probably animate animals more
I think the "knock-off" part is him copying the DVDs illegally.
Load More Replies...There is also a nod to a Gigantic, a cancelled movie that had been scheduled after Moana.
Yep, the knock off DVD titles were brilliant! PS, in the UK it's called Zootropolis just a little random info lol

In "Zootopia" (2016), during the chase scene in Little Rodentia, they pass by a billboard for "Thigmo Taxis". In Biology, thigmotaxis is the movement towards or away from physical stimulus, and has been extensively studied in rodents.
In Disney/Pixar's "Inside Out" (2015), the playing cards that are shown in Riley's Imagination Land include her family, not the typical card faces. Her father is the king, her mother the queen, and herself the jack (with the "J" being changed to an "R" for "Riley").
In the movie Wreck It Ralph The high score on Fix-It Felix Jr. is 120501, a hidden reference to December, 05, 1901, Walt Disney's birthday.
In "Ralph Breaks The Internet" (2018) the woman on the "Sassy Housewife" online ad is Aunt Cass from Big Hero 6.
Ohh! I noticed that before and I was like "That woman looks so familiar, which movie is she from?"
In 'The Little Mermaid' (1989) Ursula uses a butterfly (a symbol of transformation and mimicry) in the potion to transform herself into 'Vanessa' - which is a genus of butterfly.
In Disney's Tron, the main characters fly over a digital landscape, including this familiar rodent-shaped lake.
In Beauty and the Beast (1991), you can see little skulls in his eyes as he falls to his death.
No one dies like Gaston, says goodbye like Gaston no one has little skulls in his eyes like Gaston!
The way it's written ("his eyes"), it sounds like the Beast dies, while it's actually Gaston.
Nooooo one's slick as Gaston No one's quick as Gaston No one's neck is as incredibly thick as Gaston's 😄
Among the many references in the princesses' loungewear scene in Ralph Breaks the Internet, Ariel's cutlery candlestick (and a small part of her box of thingamabobs) can be spotted on the table behind Aurora.
Also the phrases on the princesses' pajamas are nods to each of their movies. Aurora's is "Nap Queen" and Merida's is a bear with the caption "Mum".
I absolutely loved the scene with the princesses in this movie.
Disney's 1940 animated film Fantasia shows the dinosaurs dying off as the result of an intense drought. The theory of mass extinction as the result of an astroid strike wasn't proposed until 1980.
Well, technically the dinosaurs in the Yucatan peninsula died from a REALLY intense drought.
And it wasn't till the '70s that scientists learned that dinosaurs didn't drag their tails.
In Disney’s “Princess and the Frog” (2009), when Dr. Facilier is showing Prince Naveen his future the money pile on the tarot card is in the shape of a lily pad.
''hop from place to place, but freedom takes green, its the green its the green its the green you need, and when i looked into your future its the green that i see.'' he could be talking about money but considering that fact he turned into a frog...... :/
I mean, he also said something like "I see green in your future", so...
And there are little zigzags on the edges of the card for waves in water, haha!
Saving Mr Banks (2013) references Disney’s censorship of the smoking habits of Walt Disney. In real life, they airbrushed cigarettes out of his hands in many old photos, leaving him with an odd two-finger salute.
Really? I knew that in Disney parks they use two fingers instead of the index finger to point, but I did not know it was for this reason....
Load More Replies...I suppose any reference to cryogenics in Frozen would have been frowned upon
This kind of censorship is so hypocrite while the alcohol lobby is perfectly OK with a lot of product placement in movies/series.
Actually walt disney is probably dead because he was born in 1901... he would be 120 if he didn’t die.

I've never actually watched this movie, so could someone please explain why?
He's essentially the dreaded character in the movie, due to being so hard to impress. At some point in the past, he gave a very negative review of the restaurant the film takes place in, and due to the resurging popularity in the restaurant during the events of the film, he announces he will be returning to give it another review.
Load More Replies...In Disney's Beauty and the Beast (1991) Belle was willing to be locked up for the rest of her life with the beast to save her father, but unwilling to be stuck with Gaston for the rest of her life to save her father.
I would want to stay with a beast who will leave me alone then stay with a man who won't listen when I tell him to leave me alone.
Just shows us how much of an ass Gaston is. Like Gilderoy Lockhart.
Guess she was just into creepy looking monsters at that time and thought "trapped in a dream castle with a monster that could possibly fall in love with the most beautiful face of town to save my father, h m, win win"
Charles Muntz, the villain in Pixar’s “Up,” is named after real life Disney villain Charles Mintz, who stole Walt Disney’s first creation, Oswald the Lucky Rabbit.
Fun fact there are some references to Oswald in zootopia if you know where to look
Then what happened? Not doubting, actually wondering.
Load More Replies...In Disney/Pixar's Up(2009) Carl and Ellie are shown hammering nails and sawing wood on their wedding day. This is a once popular euphemism cleverly disguised as innocent enthusiasm to fix their dream home.
An euphemism is a "nice" word or phrase that stands in for something more unpleasant. Like "between jobs" instead of "unemployed". But I am not sure what is meant in this scene. My guess is, that they are poor but instead of showing or saying that they are, they show that they have to work alone on their home even on their wedding day.

Disney puts references about their next movie in that movie. LILO and Stitch was the next movie
I love that movie and always point this out to people when we watch together
Because everyone gets to decide what they like for themselves?!

Bolt (2008). The address on Bolt’s tag is for the Disney Animation Building.
In “The Hunchback of Notre Dame,” Frollo offers captured Gypsies silver coins for the location of Esmeralda. He asks 3 times, raising the price by 10 each time. On the 3rd time, he offers nothing. He would have otherwise offered them 30 silver pieces, the same price that bought Judas.
This one seems like a stretch, but maybe it was intentional.
In Disney’s Coco, Miguel’s skeleton hands show little sign of use or age since he is a kid. However, Hector’s hands show wear and look potentially arthritic, since he was an adult when he died.
This film was so emotional and so good. I get teary thinking of the end.
Héctor is notably worn down in general, but I think that might mainly have to do with the fact that he was slowly being forgotten. According to the creators of the movie, Héctor was only 21 when he died.
In Disney’s “The Lion King” Simba eats the bugs with his pinky up. This is a reference to his royal background and manors due to his father being the “king” of the jungle.
I would love to own a good manor, i'm stuck with only good manners. The adult simba have a good mane and good manners.

Jack Sparrow telling the bone bribing prisoners in 'Pirates Of The Caribbean' that the dog holding the cell keys is "never going to move" is an obvious but cheeky reference to the stationary audio-animatronic in the original Disneyland dark ride that hasn't moved since the attraction opened in 1967.
In Disney’s The Hunchback of Notre Dame (1996) during the song “Out There” you can see Belle walking with her book just like in the “Belle” scene in Beauty and the Beast. Both movies take place in France.
Also, just a grim thought, but Beauty and the Beast takes place in pre-Revolutionary France. Does not bode well for Belle's future .
When I saw the photo before reading the text, I was like "What is Belle doing here?"
The Muses in Hercules (1997) during "I Won't Say (I'm in Love)" are depicted as busts that are arranged like the singing busts in Disney's Haunted Mansion Ride.
The french one was scary when i was 5yo (early 90's). It had a room that was an elevator(or the contrary the walls were moving?) and there was disguised staff who pushed people off the walls. A witch touched my mothers shoulder, saying "step aside the walls!" in her creepy witch voice. I shout at her "don't you dare to touch my mother! You!". "Tu touches pas à ma mère toi!". The witch felt so treatened that they removed that part of the attraction (or because it was not very safe...).
I’m pretty sure cast members don’t push people off walls, not even in Disneyland Paris

In COCO (2017), the “Rivera Family of Shoemakers” started in 1921. The same year Walt Disney made his first animation.
Unsure if this is intentional or not, but it's still a very cool detail!
In Disney's Atlantis: The Lost Empire (2001) the fish tank behind Prof. Whitmore contains Coelacanths which some describe as a living fossil.
Should have stated that live Coelocanths hadn't been discovered at the point the movie takes place in, which describes Whitmores personality as an adventurer of the unknown.
In “Ralph Breaks the Internet” (2018), Oh My Disney is surrounded by cheap motels. This is exactly what happened to the real Disneyland shortly after its opening, leading Walt to purchase a large excess of land for his next project, Disney World.
Hey, those cheap hotels made it more affordable for families to visit.
Working on SNOW WHITE AND THE SEVEN DWARFS (1937), animator Ward Kimball nearly quit after his two main sequences (the dwarfs eating soup and building a bed for Snow White) were cut. Walt Disney convinced him to stay by giving him the character of Jiminy Cricket to animate in PINOCCHIO (1940).
He wanted to quit because they cut his two main sequences in the movie

Hera's awful. We here in the PJO fandom dislike her very, very much.

I like Hercules but I don't like how they made the gods like this. Now that I've read PJO/HoO I point out what is not mythologically correct. In the myths hera is a complete b****, she flipping threw her son of mt. Olympus for being to ugly, and that all the gods are kinda a pain in the butt

In Saving Mr. Banks (2013), as Walt addresses PL Travers in his office prior to the premiere of Marry Poppins in 1964, a map of Florida is seen showing the initial interest of land that would eventually become Disney World.
Disney bought as much land in Florida as he could on the downlow because it was cheap. As soon as they realized Disney was purchasing the land, the price went way up.

Fire Casts a Transparent Shadow. In Disney's Hercules, Hades Head of Fire Does The Same!
If there is a stronger light casting on a fire it will, indeed, have a shadow. The same way a lightbulb will still make a shadow even if it's on, if there's a stronger light behind it. Technically the Sun has a shadow as well.

In Moana, Tamatoa refers to himself as a decapod, which is a crustacean that has 10 legs. You're probably wondering why he only appears to have 8 legs (okay, 7 and a half since Maui ripped off one of them). It's actually because he's a coconut crab. Coconut crabs have 10 legs, but the last pair is very small and hidden as they're only used for mating and tending to their eggs.
IDK if this counts but there is a nod to lion king being based on Shakespeare's hamlet in the song Hanku Mata. When Pumba is singing about changing his name Timon says "what's in a name". A line pulled from Shakespeares' Romeo and Juliet.
Dang! How do people find these details and their references? Tipping my hat to all y'all's good eye
In Aladdin, when the Genie pulls out the 'King Crab' if you pause it, it's actually Sebastian from The Little Mermaid!
Anyone mention Hercules wearing Scar as the skin of the Nemean lion in a scene yet?
