Boss Vanishes For 8 Weeks Saying He Has Covid, Employee Finds Out The Truth And Throws A Party To Reveal Where He Actually Was
Recent times have been full of uncertainty and extreme distress. No one has felt safe or comfortable health and work-wise. And the only positive thing to come of this situation is that people have managed to unite and lend a helping hand to each other. A lot of people have been affected by the pandemic one way or another. As everything slowed down, people became more understanding and worried about each other.
Like it or not, most of our time is spent at work. So it becomes natural for people to become friends or at least great acquaintances with people they work with. Even if this is not the case, during the pandemic, a lot of people learned to care for each other and warn one another if anything went wrong. Reddit user @GranetBlanco decided to share the story of how their boss decided to use Covid-19 as an excuse to justify his 8-week absence at work.

The pandemic has brought a lot of chaos into everyone’s lives and the only way for people to manage this chaos was through coping with everything together

The user started their story by saying that in the middle of the pandemic, their boss disappeared without an explanation. Even though the times were rough, the team managed to work without him at first. But as time went by, the narrator and their coworkers started to worry, thinking that something serious may have happened to their boss.
One Reddit user decided to share their work story of a boss who decided to lie to his coworkers about having COVID-19

Once the team was not able to keep up with their work because some things “were beyond their discretion,” they decided to call some of the company’s authorities to find out what happened. This is when they all found out that the boss had caught the virus and was now sick. The colleagues immediately contacted the boss and left him some wishes to get well soon.
The narrator revealed that they were suspicious of the boss, who didn’t seem to look like someone who had been sick for the past 8 weeks

After 3 weeks, the boss still didn’t show up, causing everyone to start speculating about his possible death. Being good colleagues, the team kept reaching out to their boss’s family and sending care packages. At this point, their project turned into disarray and someone even commented that maybe their boss wasn’t sick at all, but had just decided to take a break. This caused a backlash against this coworker.
The events took a sudden turn when the user’s sister noticed the boss in a promo of a new reality show

The employee knew they couldn’t leave this situation hanging, so they came up with an elaborate plan to break the news to the other employees

Finally, after 8 weeks of being gone, the boss showed up and continued with his work. What surprised the narrator and their colleagues was that the boss didn’t comment on the situation and didn’t give any details about his illness. Besides this, he didn’t look like someone who had just suffered from a very dangerous virus, but rather looked like someone who just got back from vacation.

The important twist of the story happens 4 or 5 months later when the user says that their sister saw a promo for a new reality TV show. The promo presented the narrator’s boss as one of the contestants. Suddenly, the user realized where their boss had been all this time.

The employee couldn’t let this go so easily, so they decided to use the opportunity to host a watch party for all the colleagues and this way show everyone what their boss was doing at the time of his absence at work. The user finished his story stating that the boss got fired and people in the office are still speculating whether the user did all of this knowing the situation.

Share on FacebookThis makes me so angry. There are so many people who suffered because of COVID, who died or lost loved ones or lost their livelihood. And this guy uses it as a convenient fake alibi. He deserved being fired, and worse.
I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy, but this douche deserves to actually get covid and be on a ventilator for 8 weeks
Load More Replies...No everyone gets fired for lying about a long absence. Years back, a teacher at a community college told me that a colleague claiming back problems was seen dancing in night clubs. He added with a shrug, "Oh well, there are some people you pay to stay away."
Maybe it works that way in that community college but every place I've work for, any private business would fire you for lying about being sick.
Load More Replies...Hmmmm....not sure I believe this one. Boss disappears, after 7-10 days they finally call the upper boss who says "Oh yeah, he's sick and you won't have a boss for a while" and no other guidance at all, on the biggest project? Hmmmmm....
I only believe it because at the start of the C-19 lockdown the work-from-home thing was new to all of us and it was complete chaos for many businesses. The upper level management probably assumed the idiot boss had been in communication with the team and they knew what was going on.
Load More Replies...E yes!!! Don't leave us like this? There are many bumbling idiots in many reality shows!!! How are we supposed to find out?
Load More Replies...This didn’t happen the most lol. Actually I’m not sure on this one but I think that quip is funny!

This reminds me of my brother who was not a cheat or a liar. My brother's company was working him and his partner, Skip, to the bone in their 2 man department. My brother literally had a nervous breakdown. He was prone to high blood pressure. His blood pressure was off the charts. His high dose medications could no longer keep it down His doctor ordered him to take 2 months off from work or he would probably die from a massive heart attack. His boss promised to replace my brother and give his Skip, his partner, more help. This did not happen. On week two, Skip, was going to work. He had a massive heart attack and died in the driveway before he could get in his truck!!! The boss was demoted. My brother never had anymore trouble getting more staff. BTW, my brother worked for one of those greedy wealthy oil companies.
as someone who has had many family members and friends get covid this makes me angry. covid is not an excuse its a very serious and dangerous thing. i applaude the OP for doing what they did their boss deserved to get fired.
I think if any of my old bosses disappeared for weeks on end we'd get *more* work done without them constantly looking over our shoulders.
I don't know if this true or not.what show? The picture on the post could be any random guy. Noone in the company checked if the guy was in the hospital? What about doctor notes? When they saw him on zoom the fake tan should have been a give away he wasn't sick.
I don't know how these things work in whatever country the OP is from, but to me, it sounds weird that anyone would feel like they could lie about being sick and then go do a TV show. Being caught would be inevitable. (In my country we get paid even if we are on sick leave, so if you are caught misusing your sick leave, you are truly f****d.)
What a beautiful piece of revenge! And I truly admire the Op's ability to keep his mouth shut about nnot having known the boss was on the show. It would kill me not to tell.
Boss did not think things through enough. The whole thing "sun tan" etc are horrible giveaways. Cannot see anything wrong with the boss, wanting to get a nice long holiday through lies, perfectly fine. How ever here, It seems the whole thing was doomed to fail since the start, reality show?! I myself am a professional lier since I was a small kid, getting away with lies is easy thing, all you have to do is think, think twice, 3x and play the scenarios through from every side, angle, view point, you can easily fool people to the max. You have to understand the do's and dont's, and be able to distort whole situation so well that you can remember any detail as if it was real. You have to know and feel the lies down to every detail, feel how people might react, again think think think. I've always skipped as much as possible through lies, since early school years to highschool and work. Skipped days to weeks just to chill and enjoy life, skipped parties I didn't want to go, and so on.
