People Come From All Over The World To Cuddle 500 Kitties At This Cat Sanctuary In Hawaii
If you like cats and you’re going to Hawaii then you might want to add the Lanai Cat Sanctuary to your itinerary. People travel from all over the world to visit it, and it’s easy to see why when you look at the pictures.
The sanctuary is home to almost 500 cats (495 to be precise) and visitors are free to pet them all, providing they have a long enough vacation of course! Located on the small Hawaiian island of Lanai, the sanctuary covers 25,000 square foot, and because the cats aren’t confined to cages, the free-range felines can roam and explore at their leisure. No wonder the sanctuary’s executive director refers to it as the “Furr” Seasons! The cats are available for either foster or adoption, and any cat that doesn’t find a home is free to spend the rest of its life at the sanctuary. It’s open to the public between 10 a.m. to 3.p.m every day, and our bags are already packed.

Share on FacebookThe thing I love most about this is all of the cats look to be a healthy weight and without illness, which means the owners are doing a great job taking care of ALL of them!
Exactly my thought too. Was afraid at first they could look neglected. But they look well fed and healthy.
Load More Replies...The cats look plump and happy. I love that they all have their own collar, which means to me they all have their own special identity and are cared for as individuals, instead of just a herd of cats existing together.
My husband and I have been there! The cats are healthy, happy, and well taken care of, thanks to the dedicated staff. Sit down on one of the benches around the sanctuary and it won't take long before the cats come along and sit on your lap. There are plenty of cool things to do in the island, but it is recommnded to get a tour guide since most of the stuff won't make sense unless you have someone telling you the historical background. Best korean chicken wings ever at Cafe 565...I still dream about them nowadays >_<
Compassion is the word that comes to mind. Love this. Such a peaceful place !
My perfect HEAVEN! I have never been to Hawaii and I am as excited about being amongst 500 cats as I am seeing the sun and surf!
So awesome, i would do the same if i won the lottery, wish it wasnt so far so i can go
That one cat looks like all he wants to explore is the other cats butt hole
I was happy till I knew this place existed... now I wanna go there and get the black and white kitty home... they are adorable.
I'm not even a cat person and I love this!! they seem so happy and healthy, clearly well loved and cared for even at these large numbers!!
This sanctuary is PURRR-FECT. And not to many better places to be a cat than inside this place of paradise!
I don't know that I'd be lying down in the grass. Or at least shower before you leave. I have a few stray cats that hang out in my backyard. I always manged to step in at least one "surprise" when I go out there. :-/
That's unlikely you'd step on anything. Cats only do that in liter boxes. Dogs always leaves bunch of surprises
