A 10-Year-Old Boy In Argentina Went Viral After Posting Pictures Of His Cakes And Other Pastries Online (27 Pics)
Today we’d like for you to read the story of Joaquín Nahuel, who is a 10-year-old child from Argentina. After suffering from burns all over his body, he decided to start making and selling cakes, pies, and even cupcakes to hopefully save enough money to pay for his skin reconstruction surgery.
Joaquín’s story became known a few weeks ago on Instagram, when the young boy posted a publication about his story and some of his work that quickly went viral as people wanted to show their support.
The boy's mother named Raquel said the little boy needs four skin expanders for a facial reconstruction that cost $500 each and are for the face only.

The accident, which left him with 25% of his body burned and evident scars, took place three years ago, when Nahuel and a cousin sprinkled alcohol on some embers, injuring both of them. In the end, the worst injuries fell upon Joaquín’s arms, neck and face.
Boca Juniors players bought 1 cake from the talented Joaquín.
“I was playing with my brother, it was my mother's birthday, we took the alcohol and threw it on the grill and we both caught fire,” he shared on social media.
Joaquín is very inspired when it comes to baking, even though he is still in school. His biggest source of inspiration is his grandfather who taught him how to make pastry and even cakes. He also cooks and distributes muffins, donuts, and mini cakes that he sells as an extra to make more money for his surgeries.
However, a week ago he managed to deliver a cake to Boca Juniors players (a football team in Argentina), and the picture got shared on Twitter with this exact caption:
“I hope you enjoyed it and if not, I promise the next one will be better.”
What is your opinion on Joaquín’s story, Pandas? What do you think of his work? Let us know down in the comments! As for the boy itself, Joaquín mom is actually in charge of receiving donations meant for the buy and if you'd like to donate to help him save up for the surgery we suggest heading to Joaquín’s Instagram page for more info!
What are you, a communist? We at the GOP all think child labor is the way to pay for basic healthcare.
Load More Replies...Just hear on the radio that he reached his funding goal for the surgery. It´s a shame he had to work his ass off at 10 y/o to pay his medical bills. At least it´s not the US health care, otherwise...
Dystopian nightmare. I feel so sorry for this kiddo and I hope everything is ok.
This isn't a cute and inspiring and adorable puff piece. It's so messed up that anyone wants to spin this in any way other than how messed up it is that he has to do this. He is a child with a serious medical issue. Healthcare is a human right. Children who need any type of medical care should never be told "good luck hustling so maybe you can have enough money" I hate it when people write these types of articles and skip how f****d up the whole situation is.
Healthcare should be considered human right, but unlike other human rights it requires lot of funds that many developing countries simply don't possess. Now if this was in the US, that'd be another story...
Load More Replies...I wish this boy the best of all things, but I find it disgusting and tremendously sad that things like this are necessary.
I want this kid to follow his passion and not have to do this for the sake of medical treatment. I'm so tired of this country.
Hello, an Argentine that brings calm about this story. The kid is not working! He could also have surgery in the country, but he decided to do it abroad, so he had to raise money through donations for the trip and because in the USA health care is not free, as it is in Argentina. It is not child labor, it can be operated in the country for free but prefers to do it abroad. It is not a sad story or child exploitation

Someone get that boy an apprenticeship! Damn, I hope that years from now we read about this boy and his famous cake shop.
I love the cakes, but the story behind them is horrific. This is the 21st century, how can we still be in a situation where a child has to resort to this in order to receive life-changing surgery? Universal healthcare should be an absolute right, yet far too many countries are monetising healthcare and turning it into a commodity for companies to profit from.
Nice, but why on earth is he paying? In the uk that would be covered on the NHS. Kids should not need to sell cakes to get medical treatment.
Sadly, healthcare is not fully covered in countries like Argentina or the United States. We are extremely lucky in the United Kingdom. I found an article in Spanish online that says Joquin was in a horrible accident (he was playing with a bottle that had alcohol in it near a gas range) that left with him burns covering 25% of his body. He started baking and cooking when he was 6 with grandfather, Francisco and started to try more challenging recipes. He decided to bake and sell some of his cakes he help pay for the extremely high cost of reconstructive surgery. He is paying for travel for reconstructive surgery in the United States and not his home country of Argentina. The cost of surgery in the United States is a travesty in itself. He also donates his cakes to food kitchens. This seems to be something that he truly loves doing. Still, it is so sad that a family has to rely on fundraising and selling his cakes to help offset costs for reconstructive surgery.

Okay devils advocate here (commence the down voted I don't care) while I agree it is absolutely disgusting that he cannot have the surgery covered by insurance his skin condition from what I see is classified as cosmetic and not life threatening or technically medically necessary (again I think this is wrong) but if a child were on here with a story of how they were baking cakes to save up for say a PlayStation or a car for when he turns 16 no one would even care. This boy is saving up for something he wants but could technically live without. It's not uncommon for insurances to deny cosmetic procedures in any country. It's an issue of medical necessity. Again I still think it's wrong and until we can change healthcare it's not going to change unfortunately.
Extra fact: when he started to practice cake decoration he took the finished ones to places where kids or even whole families go to receive meals (maybe the only ones on days)
How nice to have been able to find his calling so early in life. (Tie-dye one is amazeballs btw.)

He is very good but im just sad cause he is only doing this to pay for is surgery if i knew im in real life i would give him this💲💲💲💲💲💲💲💲💲💲💲💲💲💲💲💲💲💲💲💲💲💲💲💲💲💲💲💲💲💲💲💲💲💲💲💲💲💲💲💲💲💲
This isn’t heartwarming, this is terrible. A child shouldn’t have to labor to pay for a surgery.
Disgusting. A kid have to work to get healthcare, and you are trying to pass that as a "wholesome story"? Noone should have to struggle to access healthcare. Child labor is illegal and fought all through the world. And you try to paint it as a "good thing" here? Immoral.
